Based on the classic Wampler Pedal “Plexi-Drive”, the Plexi-Drive Deluxe builds on the foundation of the original and gives you considerably more control to shape your tone. With a 3 band active EQ and additional brightness control, the Plexi-Drive takes a huge step forward into the modern era of pedals. Complete with the perfectly voiced pregain booster, you can achieve virtually any Plexi tone from your amp - Hudba
If it can do AC/DC then you know you’ve done it right. This thing does AC/DC spectacularly.
Honestly, I don't think it does AC/DC well at all. I've had better luck getting an Angus sizzle by stacking OD pedals. I can get a Malcom-esque tone from this, but it's either too bright or too muddy. I have to pair the PD with another OD to get where I want to be.
I just love the sound and built quality of all your pedals.
I just picked one of these up. Best pedal out there. It covers the Plexi and more with the pre gain. Finally the plexi tone and feel without melting my ears. Well done.
Mine arrived today and within an hour was posting some of my other overdrives for sale, this the one. Bravo Wampler Pedals
I finally bought this one last week after months of saving, buying items at this kind of rate is not easy for me, will take few months more for a Tumnus Deluxe. Anyway, this is the 1st time I begin to appreciate my bridge pickup on a guitar I own since 2017, never sounded this good. This is the best OD pedal I own so far (Been playing for around 25 years and it’s my 4th OD) and will stay for few years to come. Thanks for this invention. Cheers from Malaysia 🇲🇾
What amp are you playing it through?
@@thelowmein9143 Vox AC4
That guy doing the Hendrix style tone sounded fantastic!!
Really nice pedal.. I think you pretty much nailed the Plexi tone. Have to have one!
Just got mine today. Absolutely knocked this out of the park! Adds a "Marshall" channel to my ENGL Savage. Sounds killer with a Dimarzio Super Distortion equipped axe. Does NOT sound like a pedal at all. Any VH fan should get this over a 5150 if they truly want the cranked plexi sound of the first six albums. With the boost it does classic Maiden/Priest style metal perfectly.
Sounds absolutely killer through the HRD!!
The built in TS style boost as pre-gain is genius. If only I knew about this pedal when I had an amp. I had an OR50 which had a great boosted lead tone, I still wanted to be able to do some classic Plexi tones. This would have made my life much easier.
YAY! Third Eye Blind in the demo! :) Great playing, both of you. The PDD sounds awesome! I haven't typically been a big Marshall fan, but I may have to consider this. :)
I would love to be able to afford one of these. I love your videos, fun to watch. You seem like a really cool guy! Keep up with the videos, I look forward to them!
I ended up getting the Catalinbread Dirty Little Secret, which works great for me but it's more of a vertical input JCM 800 than a plexi - and I'm actually okay with that. But the Wampler Plexi Drive spot on nails the classic plexi amp tones spot on, no false advertising here. You guys really delivered.
now I am using it. the best drive pedal I’ve ever met.
Great demo Brian!
***** Thanks guys!
I ordered mine today. Can't wait.
Travis you have a nice touch man! I think you got a great tone out of the pedal!! Even though Tom Quayle is a master technician but I like your tone setup better! No offense Brian and Tom ,but I thought the pedal sounded a bit dark with you guys I liked how Travis lifted the blanket of this pedal and made it shine.
Ya nice pedal Brian......was just gonna buy the basic Plexi-Drive but I think I'll go with this one....From all of us,thanks for these great pedals
Oh. I am an old punk from UK. I does the lot.....plus... Steve Jones Never mind the Bollox sound. N.B : he did not use his white LP Humbucker guitar. He used a P90 Les Paul on bridge. This pedal nails it. A proper weapon. I salute you, Wampler. 😎😊♥️
sold great video and sounding pedal can't wait for it to arrive
Im sold on this pedal, sounds amazing!!!!
i have this awesome pedal one week ago, I like too much this OD, i am from Costa Rica !! best regards
wow awesome loving this tone!
Loving the Jason Aldean riffs! Kurt Allison and Jack Sizemore do great work.
Best Wampler pedal yet (and the best looking one too!)
Snagged one used and mint for a nice price. Just got it...my impression is that it not only sounds like a Marshall plexi, it FEELS kind of spongy like a Marshall plexi, and how I recall my JTM 45 feeling when I had it. And it responds well to the volume control. Feels very amp like. So far, I really l like it. Just starting to play with it. Should be fun to crank it up in a band setting and see how it fares soon.
sounds KILLER! I started to sing the AC/DC songs! LOL
The active EQ is great!
Great sounding pedal.
Very Nice, totally Dig mine.
The Lit tone is so good. I knew it after the first note.
Just picked this pedal up and really happy with it. Running it through a fender HRD and getting some incredible tones both at home and in live situations. Cuts right through. I guess wampler changed the design a bit because my pedal doesn't say pre gain but rather just boost. Highly recommend this pedal.
the design wasn't changed, only the graphics
@@wampler_pedals You created the best Marshall in a box (M.I.A.B.) in the world. I bought this last April 18, 2017. I will buy another one
@@wampler_pedals My compression pedal is Wampler Ego mini. It is the best.
@@wampler_pedals My reverb is Wampler Ethereal. It is forever in my pedal board
Killer tones Brian!
Killer sounding and definitely in my wheelhouse to buy, with the popularity of loopers these days I wish all double pedals would come with in/out for each side, to save space I think you would be able to run a stereo jack on each possibly so if you use a mono cable you can run it as is but with TRS to mono ends you could run into two loops
Really awesome demo.
Cool demo! Nice pedal Iam tempted to try one although I only love low gain stuff, I was wondering if the pre-gain circuit is similar to the clarksdale?
I finally got this pedal last night, and just now tried it out. The first and only plexi pedal I'll ever need (so long as you don't count the Wampler Pinnacle Deluxe).
Dear Wampler pedals, with the new plexi drive deluxe in my opinion you get the perfect strike in the hearts of next gen guitar players collectors of pedals. First move, produce 2 great pedals that perfectly catch the beauty (JTM = plexi drive) and the beast (JCM 800 = plextortion) of a holy grail amp (the plexi). Second move, make it possible to run each of them on every kind of amp from U.S.A. clean (6l6) to England dirt (El34). Third move, put the two pedals in one box to get the perfect balance and versatility from the best of both worlds (from plexi drive soft sparkly crunch to heavy killer sounds of plextortion adding the separate switch for more gain and the three band eq). From the ashes of plextortion, the new plexi drive deluxe shown at the Namm. Fifth move, tell to the world it will come out on february 27 and before of that day blasting youtube with videos from PGS, Mike Hermans, Shnobel...checkmate. Now this is marketing and you're doing extraordinarily well. I really hope you'll continue to produce good stuff :D
Thanks Edoardo Papa !
Another awesome pedal
Sounds just like a plexi!! Surely to be my next pedal🤔 think itd sound great through my music man HD 130
This pedal sounds awesome , like in this video and better..
I love it. It's the closest to plexi tone I've ever heard! - practically just like one.
Love Pedal Purple Plexi. I f'n love it.
You've nailed it .
Hey Brian will the plexi drive push the classic gain channel on my Marshall dsl into more sustain? Or what would you recommend to use to get a more liquid sustain from the amp ? Thanx Brian and you make awesome products man best sounding pedal out there
"Every" since I was a kid...
Never change, Martinsville!
Wonder how this would compare to my aging Shredmaster. (still my favorite of all time.) The added EQ might make it possible.
Sounds awesome!
Nice pedal. Does it feature a boost for solos (with a considerable volume jump)? I've been looking for one for ages and currently resort to using a BOSS EQ pedal in order to facilitate that. Would be nice to have a dirt box/with VOLUME boost in one unit
Excellent pedal... perfect
Still listing to find my main tone gain pedal so far it's between this and your Velvet Fuzz. What I'm looking for is a super high gain distortion pedal geared towards Rock players. I've found to get the sound I'm searching for the closest I've heard have been Wampler pedals my favorite so far, (it changes on a weekly basis) is your Velvet Fuzz.. So I'm thinking maybe I'm a Fuzz guy? So I listened to a bunch of Fuzz pedals. I was not drawn into anything. But Love a lot of Distortion pedals. I play Fenders so singlecoil pickups are obviously not the most taint pickup but it's what I want to hear when I play. Am I obsessing too much? Can you steer me towards what YUO think is the best Wampler pedal for me? I would consider it an honor to hear your take on my issue. Thanx.
Is the "808" circuit in PD D similar to that of the Clarksdale OD?
Dying to try one through my dc10s clean channel
Sounds great Brian. Any chance of expanding the Clarksdale into a two stage pedal? I'd love to see a blend of the Clarksdale/\Cranked OD Pedal with active EQ
BGUCrossroads Possibly... we have some ideas we've been working on ;)
Just bought one of these, really like it
4:50 Doo Doo Doo!
So I've been doing a lot of research on your amp in a box pedals and I'll probably post a more detailed post on the Facebook group, but for now I'd like to know: how would these pedals sound running direct into a console or interface? Any speaker sim?
Friends, it seems a killer pedal. I wonder if the pre gain side would be able to supplement my "ts" needs. What do you tell me? i use a Fulltone, and i like it but i need just a ts type pedal to make some low gain work and to stack with my other drives.
I have the standard plexi drive and currently looking into new amps to buy....I assume it would make an awesome tone through a plexi style amp i.e. the Marshall Studio Vintage or even the 20w JCM800 Studio Classic?
Amazing pedal!!! I can't say enough good things about it. It really makes my amp come alive, I especially love putting my 808 reissue TS and ***** velvet fuzz infront it. Whatever, flavor of tone I want I can get. Thanks *****
K.C. Anderson Thanks!
I see 9-18 at the power intake. Do you have the option of power between 9 and 18? Does it change the tones? If so, maybe think about a demo of that? Thanks!
***** Yes, as long as the correct polarity is observed, you may run it at 18v. It gives a bit more headroom that way, more of a 'feel' thing than a 'sound' thing.
Can I use the pre-gain toggle for soloing? In other words can the pre-gain toggle have enough boost to make a solo stand out or cut through in a band perspective?
I know this is a dumb question, Brian, but with the active EQ, could you use this pedal in front of a clean tube amp as a "clean boost" in an attempt to capture the spanky, punchy, chimey characteristics of, say, the green channel 1 on a JTM 410? Both of my amps have a more "vintage" (ie: dark) clean channel (especially at condo volume). BTW, the Ego compressor IS my clean tone. I use it with sustain at 11:00, attack at 1:00, and blend so you can hear and FEEL it, but not so much that I can't "pick underneath it" if that makes any sense. It is so expressive, and interacts so musically with my other pedals, it's as if I have another dimension to work with besides pitch, time, and volume.
you can, yes... but honestly I'd say for your needs you'd prefer the plexidrive standard -
Hi Wampler Pedals, I am thinking of using this pedal as a preamp and pair it with the Two Notes Torpedo C.A.B.(as it has power amp&cab simulation). Does this make sense ? Or is the Plexi-Drive Deluxe Pedal strictly a distortion pedal and cannot be used as a preamp ? Noob here
Hi is the pre-gain switch more of a volume boost or a gain boost? Is it possible to get a gain boost without the added volume?
I love this pedal it’s my main distortion use through my vox ac30. The boost is horrible imo. I use a ts9 to boost it and it’s AMAZING.
Luke Robinett I use it through the effects loop and it sounds perfect. I’ve tried it in front of the amp but it’s very weak and has no bottom end
Any plans on releasing a version of the Plexi Drive that is essentially the left side of the Deluxe with a 3 band EQ? Is there a difference between the post gain on the Deluxe and the gain knob on the original Plexi Drive?
How would this work before a my Orange Dark Terror. I love my amp but it is a bit dark to do Hendrix and classic rock right.
great pedal, what difference between Pinnacle deluxe V2
Wow I really dig this pedal. Got to have one to go alongside my Velvet Fuzz :)
Dang, skipped over 80s haha, I’m pretty new to pedals so would this help me get a JCM 800 sound? Maybe a Ratt or Quiet Riot tone? If not do you guys have any pedals that would? I hear nothing but the best about y’all!
Hey Brian! Most of the pedals im finding now say bypass and boost instead of post gain and pre gain. Just wondering, is there any difference between these versions soundwise? Cheers
Hi Nicholas, same circuit, just a little different labeling because some of our customers were confused by the former labels
I wonder if this pedal sounded good in my marshall lead 100 mosfet amp , I try to get on the VH tone
Nice!
Hi ... what clean Amp was driven by the pedal and how does it behave when the Amp already has a bit of drive
Does the plexi drive deluxe also have transistors in its circuit as well as its first version ?
@brianwampler what is the correct setting for the three trimpots inside? Cheers @wampler pedals
4.5VDC, assuming a 9VDC supply
If you do get an opportunity to review any of these comments, I would love for someone like you because I use your petals lol to build a dual overdrive pedal with a 62 BB on one side and a 68 on the other even a triple drive would be great with the 74X as the third all being able to blend But the dual drive 62 and 68 plexi but like I said with a blend knob, I am currently blending an LPD 68 plexi with a Marshall BB pedal and I’m telling you there’s definitely some magic to be had there. Thanks. Even the option of having it set up with independent gain stages that give you those amps and then a control knobs or get EQ to the side like the Clarksdale Drive for instance that type of design but with gain staging like a Friedman app. 1:50
Does the level knob affect the volume of the pre gain channel? Can the pre gain be used independently as its own overdrive?
+Gibby Nik Music No, the level knob has no affect on the pre-gain. The Pre-gain can be used as it's own overdrive, but the only control you'd have would be the volume of it (controlled by the 'pre-gain' control here).
I know i am late to the party,
I am interested in this pedal lately
But is this different From the new versions having boot and gain knobs instead of pre gain and post gain ?
Brian will this pedal work well with a Fender hotrod deluxe iii?
+Chris Kile yep should sound quite good
I just got a Vox AC30HW and im wondering how this would sound in one of those?
this might sound like a stupid question but I'm new to guitar I've got this pedal using it with a boss katana do I use it on just the clean channel and what other settings should I use not use on the amp to get the best out of the pedal thanks
Use it on the clean, as well as crunch
Please put midi on this so we can control settings via a foot controller such as RJM PBC or Gigrig G2, ect...
Is this going to be a limited release or will it be a full time part of the Wampler line??
Johnny Six-String Planning on it being a regular part of the line
I've just bought the WPD so Guyz when setting up the clean channel on the amp do you set EQ to desired settings of the clean tone you want, or have EQ all at 12o'clock?
mindofown I Eq it to my desired settings. all 12:00 on an amp's (or pedals) eq is not always going to be a good starting point.
Is this pedal good for overdriving an amp transparently to add extra gain? Or is it meant to be used as a distortion pedal only ?
this is an amp in the box type of pedal, what you're looking for is the Wampler tumnus
Can i stack it with a tube screamer type of pedal? If yes which comes first in the chain is it the wampler plexi drive or the tube screamer?
there's really not right or wrong way, but yes you could stack a TS with it. If you want more gain, you probably want to run it before the Plexidrive. Keep in mind, the "boost" on this actually is a TS type circuit, with the "post gain" controlling the volume of that boost circuit.
Brian, how about a
Plextortion Deluxe in the near future, now that the Plextortion has been discontinued?
Fireheart Hmmmm, possibly so - I'd want to do the "jcm800" type circuit differently now I think though.
What Amp are you using Brian? In case I missed it????
+Lynn Boyd I believe it was a Port City Pearl (www.portcityamps.com/products/amplifiers/pearl-head )
I like sounds, but I can’t deal with those graphics.i guess I’ll get the non-deluxe and I have other pedals to add the other features.
I'm lookina git a plexi pedal, for classic rock and Van Halen tones, and I'm leaning mostly towards a Wampler. Which pedal would y'all recommend? Eddie is the main tone I'm going for, and everything else is secondary, so far I'm likin the tones of the plexi deluxe. What are y'all's inputs?
Beery if looking for the EVH go for the pinnacle deluxe.
@@baivabchowdhury Brian already recommended I go for the Pinnacle, but I figure I'd go for v2, since it's the version with the most options. Seems the way to go to me.
Plus I'll probably end up getting the Plexi Deluxe later as well. I like dirt pedals.
Beery awesome. It’s the journey that makes it fun 😊 peace ✌️
Are you plugged into a Fender HRD?
Hey guys!
I'm looking at getting my partner a Wampler pedal for his birthday. But i'm stuck between the Plexi-Drive Deluxe and the Euphoria. He plays majority blues music with both a strat and an es339 into a Fender supersonic 22. He has a couple of tube screamers and other pedals.
Was hoping you could give me some advice, thanks! :)
Melissa Whitton I'd probably recommend the Plexidrive Deluxe for him - it's going to give him more options and for blues type of music he'll love it :)
Thanks heaps! :)
Brian, what pickups do you have in your telecaster?
It’s stock, so whatever Whitfill puts In then
Wampler Plexi - drive deluxe.........It is the best M.I.A.B. in the world
Love the white tele... what is that thing?
If I'm not mistaken, it's one of these:
facebook.com/WhitfillCustomGtrs
Is this the old version or something? Cuz the one on the guitar center website doesn’t have Pre Gain and Post Gain. It’s got a gain knob and a boost knob instead. And a bypass button and a boost button also at the bottom. THIS is the one I wanna get….or are they just the same thing but with the controls labeled differently?
They are the same thing just different labels
@@wampler_pedals excellent. I was hoping that was the case. Thanks!
The "Country Rock Sound" sounds like drop D metal. 🙂
Old video but anyone know if the Plexi Deluxe works better in 9v or 18v? I picked one up and I noticed it does both. A on another forum thinks it just might be for flexibility but the OCD pedal I own sounds better at 18v, any thoughts?
It sounds better at 18v IMO. It gives it more headroom (doesn't break up as quickly on the gain taper) and sounds more amp-like to me. If you want the maximum distortion it can provide then 9v would be better, but if you want a more "classic" Plexi tone, then 18v for sure.
@@Nightbreed82 I have mine in 18v and it's sounds ridiculously awesome. This is my 3rd Wampler pedal. I have the Triple Wreck which is equally good and the Pinnacle which wasn't for me. To loose sounding. But the Plexi is right on the money.Very Amp like like a preamp in a box. As good as it sounds now I don't even care to try out 9v. My Power supply( One Spot CS12 is an awesome power supply that powers everything on my board perfectly and quietly.
Hi there, none of the demos online feature this pedal through a Fender amp. I actually just bought one thinking it would give me more of those 'pop punk' tones you demo, through my Vibrolux.. It didn't. Still get that shrill crap on the top end when using distortion/OD in a Fender amp. No drama I will just have to not bother with that particular tone.
Yuval Legendtofski that's more due to the "bright" cap on the volume control.
the 'bright' cap on the Vibrolux?? I still happened with th 'bright and boost switch on the Plexi drive.. No drama, the voicing of the amp just doesn't suit that cock rock sound.
hey.......please..................... What power source do you use in this pedal? I have placed several types of transformers and in all the pedal throws a background noise, in some very annoying and in others lower, I still cannot have an acceptable sound quality.
Already did a video on that:
