The Plexi-Drive Deluxe, is an updated and upgraded version of the Plexi-Drive Standard. Like the original, the Plexi-Drive Deluxe's unique gain structure can cover an array of tones from Vintage '68 style Plexi tones to the massive rock tones of a JTM-45® cranked to ten, or even eleven...
Wampler have now included an active 3 band Bass/Mids/Treble EQ stack giving you even more tonal control and versatility. With the bass boost switch, you can easily produce the feeling of the low-end thump of a 4x12” cabinet (or two) at the flick of a switch. The bass boost makes it simple to dial in your low end at lower volume gigs or at bedroom volume levels. Wampler have also added a bright switch to add the perfect amount of highs giving you the control you need when switching between darker and brighter guitars. The new killer feature is a one knob, pre-gain boost soft click switch that is voiced like that "famous overdrive with pronounced mids” - to help push your leads in to overdrive.
As the Wampler website says - 'To this day, the original Plexi-Drive is still one Brian’s favorite pedals and never left his personal pedal board. For a man who is said to be never satisfied with his tone, the Plexi-Drive has stayed with him throughout and is still inspiring him gig after gig, the Deluxe is taking on that tradition and running with it.
The Plexi-Drive Deluxe will fill your Marshall® void and give you the crunch, response, boost and feeling that your rig begs for. Whether you are playing sold out shows or rocking out by yourself - the Plexi-Drive Deluxe will take your tone and allow you to create your own flavor of rock!
Your search for the perfect M.I.A.B. (Marshall® in a Box) can finally be over.' - Hudba
"if that doesnt sell it to you nothing will" well played!
Tom does some of the best pedal demos and I literally have almost all the distortion and fuzz Wampler pedals. And of course the dual fusion. Just got the pantheon. Great pedal . Love this one and we’ll all the others I have. Just came to revisit this one.
The Dual Fusion & the Plexi-Drive are the best sounding overdrive pedals available, imo. They're so versatile! Wampler is really raising the bar!
James Robinson which is better in your opinion between the two you've mentioned. I'm torn between the two.
Jason Kerr I have the dual fusion, if you get that you'll gonna love it
What a sweet pedal ! I'm definitely going to buy one after seeing this excellent demo. And wow what GREAT playing, Tom. Thank you for another helpful demo. It's a joy to hear gear demonstrated by such a talented guitarist; it inspires us to hear the possibilities.
Tom, I bought this pedal after watching your demo. Love it love it love it !!! Best overdrive pedal EVER !
Beautiful playing, man!
You've peaked my interest to try this pedal in person with my single coils. Keep up the great work!
Best plexi drive on the market hands down
Wow! Great picking, great pedal, thanks for the awesome demo.
Great demo Tom! :D and your playing...no words can describe...you are such an inspiration :-) I am loving your wampler dual fusion it sounds incredible!!!!!
Cheers Tom. Just the demo I needed. Buying one of these as soon as I can..
tom quayle can make a metal zone sound good
But a metal zone sounds amazing with no major effort, just plug it in into the effects loop of any decent amp, lol
In my top 5 demo players right here, just WOW !!
Great demo! looking at a second hand one of these. Perfect!
Fantastic legato, some of the best I've ever heard.
Amazing playing dude. So glad I picked one of these up for my rig! Doubt I'll make it sound as good as you do though lol.
I've been looking for a Plexi pedal for VH/Dokken stuff, this demo finally confirms it does exist!
If your looking for THE VH tone, look up the Wampler Pinnacle. It's the greatest VH tone in a box ever created.
Wow so awesome to hear Tom hit some power chords!
Crazy awesome guitar playing! Great pedal also
Another great pedal. Besides the Dual Fusion. Great demo as always. A bit late to the demo but late is better than never. Have this and your signature pedal. Both great.
You're an excellent guitarist! Nice demo!
SOLD. What a demo!
Absolutely fantastic! Great demo. Makes me want to play better. Subscribed.
best demo of this pedal... he could make a stick sound good
manna what a cool guitar player! keep up the good work
Awesome review, Tom. Have you ever thought of putting out a series of videos on how to set up tone stacks for altering tone? Differences in legato sound intrigue me massively (yes, I know 90% of it is the player's hand).
Hi Tom, excellent reviews, this is probably the best pedal on the market and of course beautiful playing.Tom what your pick on video? Thank you
Like the vid, pedal and your legato playing.
Hey TQ, amazing playing (as always), and very thorough demo. It sounded like there was a drop in volume when you engaged the pre-gain by itself (or even combined with the vintage channel of your dual fusion pedal). Is there any way to compensate for that?
Superb demo.
Who didn't like this guy? I am starting to realize musicians can be real snobs. Great demo, and playing!
Yeah, no shortage of people online who think they're the smartest people in the room.
I have one and it is my main pedal. It sounds great.
Hey Tom, great demo as always. What cables are you using?
damn sounds beautiful!!! wampler is HARD BODY(amazing)
Just got my hands on this pedal. Wow. Every Marshall sound available is in this little box. From Plexi brittle crunch to chunky JCM 800 to total metal saturation. You can use the built in tube screamer either separate or with the left side of the pedal. It does Van Halen. Old Metalica. Free. Zakk Wylde. Great pedal. It's the sound I've been waiting for.
hold up did you say tube screamer built in. I was stuck between this a a clarksdale od
Ok so it's not the Clarksdale circuit. It's a tube screamerish type circuit. It's only got one setting. As if you had a screamer with all the knobs at 12 o'clock. So if you want a tube screamer with all the tweak able sounds stick with the Clarksdale. If you want a Marshall in a box with a screamer type boost built in buy the Plexi Deluxe. But you can run the screamer side of the pedal on its own which is awesome. I stack it with another screamer in my board and it does the SRV thing in spades.
+Jeffrey Haefner I have a fuldrive 3 with a jrc 45 chip so that's basically my tube screamer . so this plexi drive will be a nice addition. I was sold as soon as you said srv
Great demo Tom,thanks for that! I know you said that its great for various guitars, but I wonder how it would sound with a 335?Cheers! Dave
your playing is insanely good ...
Tom Quayle is a low-key, modern-day guitar hero. He could easily be on the G-3 Tour (does that still exist?) up there with the greats. My dude shreds. Ends up selling me way more pedals than I need. I feel like he needs to release a jazz album or something.
Great great demo
Best distortion pedal I’ve ever owned.
Thanks, enjoyed
Pretty impressive pedal and guitar player.
Awesome demo of what looks to be an amazing product. The only thing holding me back from getting is a problem (or rather, an inconvenience ) with all of these two in one drive pedals hitting the market. That problem is a lack of remote accessibility of the second side of the pedal. I have all my pedals in a midi loop switching system housed in my rack and not on a pedalboard. So for me, there's no way of getting to take full advantage of having this pedal or any like it. Some years ago, Bogner put out distortion pedals that were capable of having the boost function remotely switchable. That was great but the pedals were nowhere near what Whampler and other companies are putting out now.
gotta get myself a fibernare, just sooo impressive
Tom, which delay is used? And where did you put in the signal chain... Please be so kind and tell us. You rock!
Your sir are an absolute beast. I'm not worthy. Lol.
Very cool demo... Beautiful form! Can I ask, have you ever tried the Weehbo Marshall type pedals? If so, which do you prefer? Again, great demo...
Tony S I have the jvm its the higher gain Marshall type pedal. The morbid drive great. The SLOdrive great. All high gain but they have lower and medium gain. I have a relicd heavy or low bastard it's nice but may sell just because I need cash. Sorry I'm not Tom. They're very expensive. Look for used if possible.
Does he play good!!! Great sound
Not a single bad sound from this pedal. Great paying, very nice review.
Nice guitar there, soo beautiful!
thats a good demo young tommy quayle.....much appreciated
awesome pedal. does sound very marshall like. what power tubes are in the head? sounds like el34's?
Hi Tom!!
With a name of Quayle are you of Manx heritage :)
Lovely tone by the way!!
Awesome!!
Tom Quayle , such an awesome demo! Does this have more gain on tap than your Dual Fusion (when both sides are engaged)? I'm looking for a pedal I can use strictly for lead work with some delay and reverb, and both the Plexidrive Deluxe and Dual Fusion interest me. I want something thick and articulate with plenty of sustain.
Rodrigo Sanchez they're different. Both great but this is a high gain Marshall in a box. The DF is 2 of toms pedals put together. Get both😀I did and I'm broke!!🎊🎈🎉
Both WOULD cost a pretty penny! I've since moved on to a different setup with some different needs, but I appreciate the reply :)
Quayle-Man! (Bobwhite whistle) I would love to see you doing some improv on that Ibby 7 string behind you! Im sure Fibenare would understand! Also, what is your opinion on the MOAR STRINGS fad going on now? Would you play, say, an 11 string if Fibenare offered you one? I wonder if tuning my 1527 in 4ths would inspire me to play it more.
Very nice .dual fusion?
Would it be ridiculous if I said DANG YOU CAN PLAY! 👍🏻
that guitar looks as if prince got his hands on a prs. sounds great though.
...and looks great. to be honest i thought it's ugly when i saw it the first time.
but now - i start to like how it looks.
yeah it definitely grows on you. really nice top.
Great review! Which mic are you using to record your voice, and how it is going in to the computer, please?
Thanks Stephen! It's an AKG lapel mic and I use an Universal Audio Apollo as my interface.
Tom Quayle I then use a ducking compression technique to remove the guitar audio from my vocal mic.
Tom Quayle Thanks! It all adds to a great quality presentation!
What power source do you use in this pedal PLEXI WAMPLER? I have placed several types of transformers and in all the pedal throws a background noise, in some very annoying and in others lower, I still cannot have an acceptable sound quality.
Well we know you can play fast. That’s Greeaaat.
Hey Tom I emailed u about your lesson bundle package, does that bundle include the actual dvds or is it just downloads?
Hey, Brittany. Sorry - I thought I'd replied. The lessons are only in download format. Cheers!
Why did you choose a guitar that kills the plexisound?
What Is the delay??
And where is it in the signal chain?
Yes, would like to know your signal chain as well
Hi Tom, should it plugged directly to return or to input of the amp?
usually gain pedals are put in front of the amp (into the amps input) ....................guitar>plexi drive>amp
asido111 input. Modulations in the back.
asido111 considering the active eq and smooth clipping, you could probably use it in the effects loop as your preamp. If you decide to, I'd like to hear how it turns out either way
Please help me, i can't decide between the Wampler Plexi Drive or the Hot Rod Plexi Any thoughts about it? Thanks.
Adrián Miramendy OMG go with this one. I sold the regular. Very low gain. Again sorry I'm not Tom.
That’s a funky looking guitar. It’s cool, but funky.
Hey Tom, Are you tuned in 4ths here?
+Renton Harper I believe Tom always tunes to 4ths...
umm, is his B string tuned down a half-step? looks interesting to try..
Ryalside he tunes all his strings the same. So the 5th fret all the way down, instead of the b string on 4th
Tom tunes in 4ths.So E A D G C F is the tuning. Its good for symmetry on the fretboard. It takes a little getting used too but it does make sense.
Check out the Xotic SL. It sounds even better.
Rich Veeck REALLY? BETTER? ;)
Rich Veeck no it's good but not as good as this. Sorry.
Nunzio Annunziata no this is better. both good. This better.
This guitar looks like a furniture. ;)
Awesome playing,and pedal as well.
magic fingers
At least with the way the pedal is set, too muddy in the lower registers for my taste. Marshall rock is all about that clear snap in the low strings for riffing and rhythm work. Accept for some JTM45 and black flag tones of course. Tom being a legato and fusion style player, his smooth or warm is probably my mud. I’m all about 70’s/early 80’s hard rock, punk and metal. Didn’t hear this pedal doing much for those things with that low end response. Just the Pre gain by itself was the closest if you were running it into an amp set to crunch, but then you just save yourself some coin and get one of the many simpler boost/OD pedals out there. Would have liked to hear the pedal with the bass boost off and maybe adjusting the bass knob lower. Heard an older demo of a previous gen, 3 knob plexi drive that seemed to sound very good for that Marshall “Klang” in the low end...lol
Is that guitar from the John Holmes artist collection?
Is this a Overdrive or a Distortion pedal?
Wampler pedals tend to blur that line. I have a Pantheon and it does overdrive, distortion, and even works as a clean boost or a preamp. This one seems to blur the line between OD and distortion as well
Will this pedal make me play like Tom Quayle?
Absolutely, I bought it and insantly starting playing like him!
I have to say this ... and this applies to all of these types of "demo's" ... no disparagement directed toward he player as he is an excellent one ... but these "demo's" all sound exactly the same, because whatever is being "demo'ed" is pumped through mic preamps, EQ's, whatever, then into software that's tailored to sound exactly like the current fad "sound". Ergo, generic results that do not highlight the true product but only the player (in order to "dazzle" the listener) and "The Sound". As an alternative example, check any of the many J D Simo video demo's, which are recorded open-air, so that the listener gets the real sound and feel of whatever's being played. THIS is the way that a sound demo SHOULD be exhibited. The mic, software, special EQ'ing, etc., should be minimized to the max, so that the result is only the actual gear, together with the way that the instrument interacts with it. I've watched demo's of amp's, for instance, that cost thousands of $'s, and are reduced to sounding like a $50 Joyo pedal, simply because of the emphasis on marketing hype, rather than an honest assessment of the product. End of rant. (Sorry .... )
+Andrew Bradford You should add more air quotes and unnecessary apostrophes to your posts.

soap… no? yes, only lamps !
hwatt the f: been seaerchin hi n loe, are the bmt available when th boost is on???????????????????? no manual or vid demos demo that!!!!!!!!😒
Great demo that convinced me not to buy the pedal, I’ll never sound that good 😩
I tell a lie. I just bought a used one.
Screw the pedal....I want Toms hands....
Sounds muddy in the beginning
That's is the ugliest guitar I've ever seen...
I couldnt take this video serious fro second one with that goofy looking guitar. Narrow, I know. But that thing is yucko
Mesa3077Boogie fibinare. Agree.
Mesa3077Boogie older puts but can’t help saying we were in a guitar store and they wouldn’t let me play that guitar because it’s about $5,000 usd. That’s ok with me.
It is a seriously ugly guitar.
Gosh that's an ugly guitar.
