  • If you want to see the fastest improvement in your ability to speak and understand French, it's important to learn the specifics of spoken French - and ignoring everything else! Luckily for you, that's exactly what we specialize in here at Comme une Française. Unlike the French you learned in school, from your language learning apps, and even from other CZcamsrs, we focus only on the specifics of speaking, understanding, and being understood in everyday French. One way we do this is by giving you the opportunity to practice your spoken French from home! In today's lesson, we'll do some French pronunciation practice to help you improve your fluency and your French “accent”. We'll specifically take a look at the difference between words that have a “é” sound versus a “è” sound. Can you hear the difference? Can you adopt it yourself? Let's try!
    0:00 - Intro
    0:25 - é or è?
    2:54 - The problems with “é” and “è”! It doesn't make sense!
    5:37 - Practice with me!
    7:21 - Outro

At Comme une Française, we specialize in everyday spoken French. We focus on three unique aspects that are different from school French, self-study books, Duolingo, etc:
    1. We focus only on the specifics of speaking/understanding/being understood in everyday French and have unique ways to help you learn it properly & faster.
    2. We focus on shortcuts to help you make progress faster, which also means we tell you exactly what you can stop learning to prioritize what’s really important.
    3. We use French culture as the subject to make it fun and interesting for adults.
Take care and stay safe. 😘 from Grenoble, France.

Thank you so much for this! I've been listening to the Choses à Savoir podcasts over the past year and I was mortified cos I thought I'd been mispronouncing words like "J'ai" and "lait" incorrectly this whole time. I've always pronounced them with l'accent grave but I keep hearing native speakers pronounce them with l'accent aigu! I'm so happy it's just a case of a difference in regional accents

Pour moi en voyant un mot avec un quelconque accent sur l'euh, j'ai toujours pensé à la prononciation d'accent aigu comme la même chose que la fin des verbes infinitifs (qui terminent avec ER), et pour l'accent grave je mimique le son d'euh dans la phrase "je me lève". Cela m'a souvent bien servi quand je n'étais pas 100 % sûr !

Please help , my middle name is spelled Moneè pronounced (Monet) I’m wanting to give my middle name to my daughter , I’m just worried that the spelling my parents chose might not be correct? Trying to figure it out before also giving my child the same name and spelling , so my question is , Is Moneè spelled in a way it’s actually pronounced like Monet? Thank you !

je vous conseille d'écouter du mot "élève" plusieurs fois pour voir la difference entre ces deux voyelles.

This video explains that French é sound actually closely corresponds to the so called "short ı sound" in English.
İ think it's really helpful for anglophones learning French and francophones learning English pronunciation. 😃
