considering Guts is around 6'8" tall, even if the Dragon Slayer was a bit smaller than him, it would still be an enormous piece of iron attached into a handguard that will look impossible to be used by any human.

@@fica1137 Nah you would just have to be incredibly strong. Guts canonically has been swinging swords bigger than him since he could walk. And ever since he was 19, he’s been fighting inhuman monsters, demons and evil spirits every night almost without rest. Guts also did struggle to wield the Dragonslayer at first, but now, since he has the Berserker Armor, he can freely jump around and wave it around at will. In his fight against Grunbeld he massacres a large group of apostles with ease.
Even before that, it wasn’t so much that the Dragonslayer was magic or that Guts was some super special warrior that could only wield this super special sword, but that the damn thing was so insanely heavy that only an insanely strong person could use it. In-universe it’s literally a meme sword, made because Godo was told by some lord or king of Midland to give him a sword “great enough to slay a dragon”, so he made this massive slab of raw steel and it’s been sitting in his workshop since. Which is why it can slice through Apostles with ease.

The fact that he didn't put a single add into this video shows just how much he loves the people and his job, he is dedicated to this, and amazing at his works.
Honestly, I think I'd want a truly accurate version of this sword built not to be wielded, but to just... be there. To let you feel how utterly fucking stupid this sword is yourself, add some weight to Guts' actions. If one day I ever become a smith, probably something I'd be insane enough to try. If nothing else, you could use it for weight lifting.
@uriel nicolas rosso I've squatted 405 but that was my max. I also might have had bad technique so, maybe a proper "squat" going down lower wouldn't be something I could do. I have good legs in general. Idk, if you've ever seen people participating in Highland Games, those show the ridiculous stuff people can do.
Pretty Hate Machining has been posting videos of where he's making a Dragonslayer from a 2" slab. The blade alone ended up being slightly over 300 lbs.

Jakub G actually the metal plates he uses come heat treated which is why he's always careful when he puts any heat into it
Didn't know that. Yet considering they are heat treated, it might not be the best idea to weld it. Plus, the weld is likely to fall apart if you try to clang it around
Man at Arms sword is much more heavy and true to Berserks golden age sword , this guys sword is great but not 100 percent accurate

If made 100% accurate to the manga that beast would be about 1-2" thick and would weigh at least 200-300lbs, and one of the things I like most about Miura's work is that it ISN'T normal. People react to Gutts even being able to lift the dragonslayer with the shock and fear it deserves.

@Mazhar Imam The blade was sustained by his false arm on its mid-point though, meaning he mostly busted the amount of weight his teeth would otherwise have to carry in that scenario. It's still amazingly impressive that his teeth are that strong as to not break while holding a part of that weight, but it wasnt the whole thing.
@@Someone_Somewhere7 he does catch Roselina's (or whatever the elf apostle's name was) stinger with his teeth tho, so it's somewhat consistent :)

You can only imagine how strong Guts was to carry this around

Yeah and Guts is 6'8 which means in reality the sword is a lot bigger than this one, a true monster! lol and when he goes berserk imagine a guy that size with a sword like that moving around with super speed, ridiculous.

Amazing job man. It looks almost exactly like the sword from the manga and anime. I think Kentaro Miura would've really loved this. Also if they ever make a live action Berserk movie/show, you'd definitely make a perfect Godo.

I appreciate the gripes about how The Dragonslayer is sometimes inconsistently represented. I dont appreciate it because I think he's right. I appreciate because he knows the sorce material well enough to actually have a legitimate complaint about it. Its a little detail, but as a craftsmen, we should know what we are building and the object/weapons history. At least a bit.

small angle grinder with grinding disc wont cut you a finger with just a single hit....i work everyday with them , it will hit the bone and bounce even with thin 1mm steel cutting discs...its not a very dangerous tool....main danger its the eyes when a disc breaks thats why when using the grinder without the safety guard you should place it to your right, because when a disc breaks the debris will bounce ALWAYS the opposite direction of were the sparks are flying and if you are working with the machine a little bit to your side you can be hit in your arm but never on the face...sometimes for example to cut the exhaust of a car or other hard to reach cut it is necessary to remove the safety guard of the grinder
woodworking table saws, chainsaws and angle grinder with stone or wood cutting disc...that is very very dangerous and WILL cut tissue and bone instantly at the minimal touch.
also great care must be taken because the tool has a rotational direction and we must cut or grind according to that...failing to do so will result in the machine boucing and hit our face , belly etc..also when cutting care must be taken so that the material to be cut wont fall or bend inwards towards the cut area and tighten the disc causing the disc to break, the machine to stop or worse causing us to fall with the chest over the machine. if we respect these rules the grinder is a safe tool

The berserker armour tat Guts wears in the anime is so overpowered that it actually kept him fighting even after EVERY SINGLE BONE IN HIS BODY had been broken and he had lost literally ALL of his blood.

It CAN hold your bones together by piercing (Guts didn't have all broken... just an arm, leg and bunch of ribs), but you still die if you bleed out too much (Guts hasn't).
The story went that the PREVIOUS owner fought til all his bones were broken and he lost all his blood... operative word being "til."

You know, I watched this video 7 years ago seeing a big sword thinking “Oh, that’s a cool sword, I guess it’s just from some silly anime or game like Kingdom Hearts.” 7 years later, I was exposed to Berserk for the first time and this build is now 1000x cooler.

+Ryan Tuttle And Guts even uses it one-handed. That metal "arm" thing has no dexterity or hand-strength outside of the magnet in the palm and wrist-tension, so really all of the force is being directed by Guts' remaining real hand.
I watched this when I was 11 had know idea what show the sword came from but was just happy seeing him make it, I am now 16 and have finally read berserk, it is the king of dark fantasy. Thank you for making this 👍
