I'm from the Netherlands. This video shows so little about the country. There is so much more to it.
Alaska is about 2.5 bigger than Texas with Alaska covering 663,268 sq miles and Texas covering 268,820 sq miles. Alaska is the seventh biggest sub-national division on earth. It is bigger than all but eighteen independent nations in the world.
Belgium with Belgian / Dutch and German herritage . 🇧🇪🇳🇱🇩🇪
i am from the netherlands from drenthe its in the noth east greets from hoogeveen
7:57 the Netherlands was founded in 1581 almost 2 centuries older then the us
Funny thing is that without the Netherlands, the US wouldn't even exist, since we granted them their independence as well.
The Plakkaat van Verlatinghe (also known as Acte van Verlatinghe) is a placard signed on July 26, 1581, in which a number of provinces of the Habsburg Netherlands deposed Philip II as their ruler.

@@Noviomagus024 Yes I know and did you know Nijmegen's claim to fame was taken from Noyon France.
I can not believe you didnt see diversity in Amsterdam, It literally is one of the most diverse in the world.
New York founded as New Amsterdam thanks its diversity to the Dutch origin and tollerant culture.
We hardly have any snow in the Netherlands, the Netherlands also is not a Nordic country. The average temoprature in the Netherlands is 50 fahrenheit, there are rarely days with lasting snow, less than a week these days. The image at 8.39 is actualy Belgium, our southern neighbours, not the Netherlands, I noticed when the police car drove by. Traffic is nowhere near as busy as what I encountered when I was in LA. The big cities in the Netherlands are very diverse, we have a lot of people from Surinam, The Netherlands Antiles, Indonesia, Morocco and Turkey living here. In Rotterdam(the largest port city in Europe) we have 170 different nationalities.
The image at 8.39 is the Royal Palace on the Dam square in Amsterdam with a regular van driving by.
@@josbogers No it's not, it's a Belgian police car driving by, not a Dutch police car
@@StevenQ74 It might be, but it still is the the Dam square. I never said it was an Dutch police car.
the w33d is cheap so is the coca¡ne
Cocaïne is illegal, weed is soo overhyped and we get on average 4 days worth of sludge a year, not snow sludge. And a day of hail once per decade in the midst of summer.
Small correction: the Netherlands is way older than the USA. It even founded New York.

to add to that correction netherlands ain't eastern or nordic it's west europe but compared to most west europe country's it is probabbly more close to the nordic country's in their ways

the netherlands helped get america become Independed....so who is older?
I live in the Netherlands and I'm an African from Rotterdam and sometimes I feel like we're in the majority here 😁😁😁 so I don't know where you've been?
I think you're right... ;-)) I'm not from Rotterdam and a few years ago I went to an (evening) concert in 'de Doelen'....at the end of the (classical) concert I went outside and couldn't believe my eyes.... ;-)))) there were two kinds of people: white people who came from the Doelen and mostly colored people outside.... demography certainly changes, especially in the big cities ...
hehe, if america is older then the netherlands.
how come the pilgrims were from the netherlands ? ;-)
we are a very small country, but quite different then most somehow.
The pilgrims were not from the Netherlands. They we're English hard-core Calvinists who fled from Catholic England persecution to Leiden, but left again because they found the Netherlands too liberal for other religions. They were the ultimate hypocritical bigots. Tells you a lot about America.
You said "we're older than the Netherlands" when Dutch people have literally discovered America in 1612. America is young compared to all of Europe, ever wondered why America doesn't have any historic buildings like castles?
Usa is 246 years old an are 226 years in war
When I come back to the Netherlands I will make it my mission to check out more of the countryside 😍🥹 It seems so peaceful!!

The Netherlands is located in Western Europe. Right in between Belgium, Germany & the UK across the North Sea. The capital city of the country is Amsterdam, which lies in the province of North Holland. The government is located in the city of The Hague, which lies in the province of South Holland. Next to the Dutch government it also hosts several institutions of the United Nations, like the OPCW & the International Court of Justice. The country of the Netherlands became independent in the year 1581. That was during the Dutch War of Independence, which is also called the 80 years war or the Dutch Revolt.
Wow
The Netherlands is not Nordic and its capital is Amsterdam.
0:25 the Netherlands is not Nordic it is in the lowlands along with Luxembourg and belgium 6:15 most of Africa was colonized by the UK and France so they had to fight in ww1 and ww2
Cracks me up that you think it's Nordic. Confusing it with Norway?
We emigrated from NL to Scotland in '51 and for reasons I'll never understand people here mixed up Denmark with the Netherlands again and again. (Though Denmark might be considered to be more "nether" than NL because its highest hill is not as high as NL's highest hill.)
Spearfishing in the Netherlands? That's hilarious.
Every weekend I put on my clogs and go spearfishing in the tulips.... You don't? 🤔

And it you like to learn more about bikes in the Netherlands, I would suggest the channel of “Not Just Bikes”. Probably one the most popular CZcams channels on this subject. It’s from a Canadian living in Amsterdam. You’ll love it.
You should definetely watch on a map more often when learning about countries and history. It really helps memorize and understanding connections based on the geography.
Alaska is the biggest state of America, not Texas.. And the Netherlands is much older then the United states..
It is hard to imagine that you went to Amsterdam and Utrecht without seeing anyone who looked like you. Roughly 5% of our population has dark skin and 20% is expat or has parents who aren't born in the Netherlands. Most of them live in the cities.
That also amazed me , for me i almost can't belief it.
When I heard "we are older than them" I immediately jumped in the comment section :D
we bestaan natuurlijk veel langer dan Amerika maar als koninkrijk zijn we jonger.
Netherlands is way older then the USA, we even founded new York (back then it was called new Amsterdam)
Dankjewel dat je Nederland echt super leuk vind, ik ben er echt super blij mee ❤
the netherlands Aren't nordic!!!
We fought 80 years of war to be free from Spain: The Plakkaat van Verlatinghe (also known as Acte van Verlatinghe) is a placard signed on July 26, 1581, in which a number of provinces of the Habsburg Netherlands deposed Philip II as their ruler.
The place where I live was elevated to the city (or stede) in 1410 by Willem VI graaf van Holland en Zeeland. The city of Nijmegen is one of the oldest cities in the Netherlands and is about 2000 years old.
How did you say we were older than the Netherlands we were found in the 1700s the 16th century was 1500 till 1599
Fun fact, the Netherlands actually bought the Manhattan island with glass and some coins which would be in todays world worth 24 dollars
The city of Nijmegen is one of the oldest cities in the Netherlands and is about 2000 years old ☺️
Don´t know if someone has mentioned this yet.... But Amsterdam is the capital of the Netherlands.... It is not counted as one of the north countries, it is however in the western part of Europe..
Have you actually ever been in Europe? It seems, that you know nothing about even the most basic stuff, like where is "Holland"/the Netherlands, well it is a "Nordic Country" with tons of snow!! And the Windmills are in Eastern Europe!! And the absolute Classic: "I like places like Amsterdam"!!!!! Not the cold places like the Netherlands!!
The Netherlands is older than the US. The Netherlands, as we know it today, has existed since 1581 after independence.
13:40 During the 19th century the Netherlands were one the major colonial powers, with Indonesia being their largest dominion. Around 1610 they had also established some colonies in the Americas, including New Amsterdam, occupied by British troops in 1664 and after the Peace of Breda renamed as New York in 1667. In exchange for New York the Brits acknowledged the Dutch rule over Suriname (conquered by Dutch troops in 1667). South Africa was 1652 - 1797 a colony of the Dutch East India Company, but as in 1795 French troops occupied the Netherlands, British troops landed in 1797 in South Africa and took over the colony.
Is it fair to say that at the beginning of the video you had no idea Amsterdam is the capital of The Netherlands, eventhough apparently you visited? Windmills in Eastern Europe, Netherlands in the Nordics, US older than NL, spearfishing in months long winters? What are you on about? Girl, this project of educating yourself with YT-videos is admirable but embarrassingly ineffective 😭
We have buildings that are older then USA 😂
I'm studying Land and Watermanagement in the Netherlands, which is quite useful in a country partly under sealevel lmao. I hope I can provide my own country but also other countries with solutions on water issues :)
How is the job opportunity there?
im dutch and i can confirm that we dont have 6 months of snow and only had 2 snowy days last year...
I wouldn't say the Netherlands are a Nordic country, but you could say it is a northern country. It doesn't snow often here, but when it does we make sure to enjoy from it haha
The Netherlands are neighbours grom Germany and Belgium ! It's not a Nordic country! ! !
alaska is bigger than texas ...
The Netherlands has hardly any snow during the Winter, maybe a week with an inch of snow each year.
the declaration of independence ( Placaat van verlatinghe ) is from 26 juli 1581 when they separated from spain.
Next time go outside Amsterdam the country is only 42.000 kilometers squared but you missed De Keukenhof, you missed the country side you missed the biggest flood protection system in the world oh girl you missed everything !
In my street where 160 flat houses are 2 x 80

I’m sorry. Alaska is 2,5 times bigger than Texas. By the way I’m from Finland. 🇫🇮
I recommend the youtuber "Not Just Bikes" to learn more about the Netherlands. Also the Nertherlands are not Nordic its mainland European
We do had a viking ruler in Friesland in the 13th century
I grew up in a village with about 500 people and it is still this size. Greetings, Roelof from the Netherlands.
Next time you go you should definitely go to cities like Rotterdam or Haarlem. But the prettiest part of The Netherlands in my opinion are the Wadden Islands (my favorites are Terschelling, Vlieland and Ameland). The northern provinces like Friesland are so underrated and a city like Leeuwarden is very cute and Groningen is a real student city. Hope that you will come again some day in the future to see what else we have to offer!
About the Dutch islands in the Caribbean. At one point in time, the Netherlands was one of great colonial powers in the world. Which included South Africa, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Indonesia, Surinam and New Netherland. The capital of New Netherland was New Amsterdam. And that later became New York City, which explains all the Dutch roots of that region.
2:23 Year after year the Dutch have the happiest children and one of the happiest adults in the world
The netherlands was founded around 1580
Nordic country????😱
We hardly have winters anymore. In the Netherlands we have a maritime climate. The landscape and also the architecture are very different In the country. The coastal provinces for instance look very different in landscape and architectural styles compared to other parts of the country .In the far south there are even hills.Viewed from Amsterdam on the map , a little more to the south-east ( about 80 km) there is the Veluwe in the province of Gelderland, with forests and moors and sand drifts, a very special and different landscape compared to the rest of the Netherlands . There is a lot to discover.
The Dutch created the blueprint of the diversity in the US.
We made them😅The use or 🇳🇱🇳🇱🇳🇱🇳🇱🇳🇱collors to

This movie shows you 99% Amsterdam. Thats like showing New York while saying: this is America.
Great video! I am an italian whos born in Maastricht and life there still. The most south city from the Netherlands. Gr Gianluca.
Oh we rarely have snow like sometimes we have years without snow.
Loads of kids still play outside. Here kids are pretty free and roam around, even at a young age, they aren't kept inside. Also there are loads of small towns too. I was born and raised in and near Rotterdam but I know live in the east in a village with 4000 people. You see kids here all over the place.
The Netherlands is not a Nordic country, our winters are mild if at all cold. I am 57 yo and remember the winters that usually were a few weeks of snow and frost and we could skate on our many canals and lakes, that is a thing of the past. Nowdays it hardly freeses anymore, when it does temperatures wont reach as low as in my youth and its days instead of weeks.
The Netherlands is a riverdelta, we have too guard our low land 'Netherland' from flooding. We have build dams etc. to keep us dry, we have made polders to have more dry and safe land. We do maintain our infrastructure well, tax money is better spend compared to many other countries.
These kinds of videos remind me how to be happy about being Dutch, because there are many things that are not that great, the Netherlands from a Dutch pov. makes it easy to complain about allot. Thanks to outsiders I can see why we have things to be 'proud' of, tyvm👍
This video you've reviewed is very limited, there's so much more too our poststamp sized country.
Life is so different in Europe than in the US it really takes a lot of time to comprehend.
For if you want to see seals, you'll need to go to the Waddenzee (a sea), located inbetween the Waddeneilanden (islands) and the provinces of North Holland, Friesland and Groningen. Basically the north of the Netherlands
9:09 Dutchie here, yes we're a densely populated country. But it's not at all bad that we have to wait in line at the grocery store or that the traffic is unbearable. Mostly due to efficiency, automatisation, self checkouts, good walk, bike and road infrastructure. It's more streamlined.😉 And due to the good infrastructure; people bike everywhere! Often times to work, school/uni, gym, to go out, meet friends/family. Since people live and cities are closer together, combined with good public transport, instead of being reliend of cars.
Amsterdam is the capital of the Netherlands. And the Netherlands has discovered New York. And then called New Amsterdam. Also 5 of your presidents are of Dutch descent.
I find the video misleading in some aspects… never in my life did we have months of snow, in the last decades I never witnessed more than a couple of days or mostly two weeks. The Dutch people share some traits with the Nordic people, like being disciplined and rather tolerant, but our culture tends more to a mix of German and British characteristics.
By staying only in Amsterdam and Utrecht you missed 90% of the country, those cities are very liberal and prosperous bubbles of young happy people with master’s degrees and medium to high incomes. Amsterdam has a borough with a very high percentage of inhabitants of African descent: Bijlmermeer (or Amsterdam Zuidoost). In the 1990s when I studied in Amsterdam I saw quite a lot of Surinamese people in the city centre, but Amsterdam has undergone a process of a very strong internationally oriented gentrification. As a result, a lot of lower- and middle-class people of all backgrounds, skin colour and religions moved to the outskirts and suburbs.
The Hague and Rotterdam are lagging behind with their economies and can be perceived as more ‘raw’ and poorer. I live in the Hague for 25 years now, and I find this city more interesting as it has as the same diversity in population and I’m sure you’ll feel more comfortable here. The nice thing is that you’ll see all type of people, Dutch, immigrants from Asia, Africa, the Mediterranean, the Americas and of course from all over Europe, their offspring and many, many Dutch-immigrant mixed people, like me.
Besides the four large cities I’d recommend to visit the coast, the province of Zeeland (google: Deltawerken), the river landscape (google: Linge wandelroute for photos), Friesland and Limburg. And we have many, many nice smaller cities with precious architecture like Delft, Den Bosch, Enkhuizen, Deventer, Dordrecht etc… having a very mellow character.
And if you want to see how the common people live: visit Almere, Zoetermeer, Arnhem, Tilburg (and google: ‘Vinexwijk’, where people seem to be the happiest).
a Dutch mister Fahrenheit (born in Poland) has invented the Fahrenheit scale. we use Celsius, but there are still countries (USA) that use Fahrenheit.
2:48 there is rarely snow it only snowed 2 times this winter
its snowing today;)
@@tijmen5355 more like freezing
The netherlands has verry verry little to no snow. if your lucky you see some 2 days out of the year . its a coastal nation you have more rain wind and hail . and 13 degrees celcius with a little drizzle and wind its feels like minus 20 Degrees celcius.
11:30 s'Gravenhage or Den Haag as the Dutch call "the Hage" has no THE in it.
because "Den" is difficult to translate and is most similar to "the" but that is actually not correct,
it is old Dutch and is more about being in or on a certain place.
You have to watch grocery shopping in the netherlands. We all do pay automatic without workers at the store
Isn't Alaska the biggest state of the USA? Atleast that was thought to me at school here in the Netherlands...
Yes it is.
The Netherlands is much more efficient than the US actually due to how we design everything to be efficient and practical so grocery shopping for example takes about 10 minutes which is something we do daily often by bike. The reason so many people live there is because it is a great place to live
I am working 1 day per week in the only working polder windmill of Amsterdam; Molen van Sloten. If you want to go to the Netherlands, i can give you a tour in the windmill. And tips and tricks about to see things and parts
The motto of the netherlands means 'to maintain' try to work out things without violence. Its not utopia but the social aspect is so much better then for example the USA. The same goes for germany, denmark and scandinavia btw
If you film in the wintertime, yes then it looks cold 🥶
He said : 200 nations are represented in my country how much of a melting pot ya want....
We dutch cycle everywhere, and it doesnt matter if it rains or snows… we complain a lot about it but do it anyway😂 and the Netherlands is way older than the usa, the oldest city in the netherlands is over 2000 years old😊
9:25 driving a car here is pretty sweet. You don't have to drive for an hour to get to a store or something.
Basicly nowdays whe have to types of weather.
April till october warm with Some rains and iT gets up to Being realy hot.
November till march....rain...rain...rain with Some suma en cold weather.

The netherlands discoverd america so we are a kind of founding fathers of america
Nordic? Nordic? Nordic???
7:58 The Netherlands (as a country of its own) is almost 450 years old!
10:57 Why? When I go to, let's say, a South-East Asian country, I feel no need to be surrounded by white people like me either.
14:12 Of course the Netherlands are a monarchy. What did you think?
My brother's house is older than the US, lol. I live in between two cities that are 1300 years old. No way the US is older.

Bearing in mind how little you know about the Netherlands, I find it hard to believe that you have been to the country. Possibly you watched this kind of videos in your hotel room.
"Spearfishing"....? ....I think you're confused with certain nordic countries, or the North-pole, Alaska etc.
For diversity go to the Bijlmer, South East Amsterdam. You'll be positively stunned.
And new Amsterdam (new york) is discovers by the netherlands and Amsterdam is the capital of the netherlands
Awesome video. Can you react to “What is Lithuania”? Its a video about a country in the middle of Europe
Lithuania in the middle of Europe??
There is no city which has over 950.000 citizens. He was talking about the population of the provinces.
I think the video you watched is very superficial regarding the Netherlands. There are better ones out there, I believe.
Ok, I can say, that Amsterdam for example is full crowded, just because of a lot tourists. But European countries are often more densed, just because of space. Germany for example has a population of around 84.270.625 on a space of ~357.588 squarekilometers, while Montana for example have ~380.838 squarekilometers but a population of just ~1. 084.225 peoples.
A province is not a city, so 2,5 million people aren'r living in one city. The biggest city is Amsterdam (over 1 million), followed by Rotterdam, The Hague and Utrecht.
Nice fact about the city names with 'the'(in Dutch: 'de' or 'den'): The Hague (Dutch: Den Haag) is also called 's-Gravenhage, which means: forest or park of the graves.
And we have another city: Den Bosch (or 's-Hertogenbosch), which means Woods of the Dukes.
And yes there are more with 'the' in the name.
My village (in the Netherlands) has like 2000 people so it is strange for my that the city you grew up in has the same is strange
how can your country be older while the dutch named new amsterdam (now new york) then named new-netherlands (province)
Lol our stockmarket is older then america. Remember also the dutch founded new amsterdam (new york)😂😂
Snow is something we do not really have for years here in the Netherlands no more..Unfortunatly
8:49 isn't the biggest us state by area is Alaska whilst the largest by population is California?
KLM was bought out by Air France a few years ago.
Nope, it was a merger 20 years ago with AF being the larger partner. Both AF and KLM still (very inefficiently) exist as seperate entities in the holding company Air France-KLM.
