Improve your sprint training and decrease your times by using the tips in this video.
Effective block start form, block start settings, and technique when you leave the blocks will determine how well you sprint. If your goal is to run a faster 100m, 200m, 400m, then you need to watch this video.

5:30 and beyond, that is some very good analysis that I haven't heard from other people before. Very nice
Thanks for watching!
ChalkLitIScream yeah he is basically saying the slower one is, the more that person needs to drive, hitting top speed later in the race than someone who is naturally faster.
Best explanation of the block start in CZcams!
Incredible piece of info, presented in a very professional way! Much appreciated!

Thanks Desean!!
impressive
Very nice video.
Thank you for watching, glad it was worth your time 💪🏽
I've always wondered what foot do you put in the front block. Most people have a dominate foot and hand. I've heard that you put your dominate foot in the back block as this will be the foot you will be landing on first? But what about the initial extension from the front block? Wouldn't it benefit the sprinter more if the dominate foot was used for the initial extension? I would love to hear your feedback on this matter. I would imagine that if the sprinter built up the muscles in both legs efficiently from certain workouts then it wouldn't matter.
Is this the same track that jaret films at?
Hey buddy i have a competition this coming jan 8 and i have starting problems (no blocks). I tried figuring out my problems through taking a videos and im not really sure whats making me slow. Im actually confused if i should raise my knees higher as i push off on my start or maybe its something else?? I used to fall off😭😭 REALLY NEED UR HELP BUDDY
I have a question. The feet must be full put on the blocks or a little bit lower touching the track floor?
How about 200m distribuition? Thank you Cody
Excellent ... the only small detail I noticed was the left arm going backwards slightly before moving forward...otherwise brilliant video
Just a random question...
Why is it that people consider Ben Johnson to be the one of the best starters in history yet nobody does his starting technique with both legs pushing out of the blocks?
+sholekefe I think most people would struggle to be able to achieve that type of start. He was so explosively strong that it worked for him but not really anyone else
I think Christian Coleman starts similar. Not as explosive of course, but a similar 2 foot pushoff.
You'd have to be mad strong and be squatting 500 to make that start effective. Just watch the 88 final. His first step separates him from the field and he's gone
Very true!

Don't make the mistake of correlating squat numbers to power in sprinting, By that logic, powerlifters should be able to beat the pants off any sprinter in the drive phase. They don't because in sprinting, strength means nothing if you can't apply it quickly. Try and vert jump as high as you can, notice that it took you at least 1sec to 'load up' before jumping, in a squat, your eccentric phase might be 2-3sec or more. After a second, most sprinters would've already taken 4-5 steps and be long gone.
You've got a limited to to exert force into the ground, while sprinting (around a 0.1 sec). The most genetically gifted sprinters are able to apply large amounts of force into the ground within that narrow window. Rely too much on squatting and you're essentially training your neuromuscular system to fire even slower.
Ben Johnson and Christian Coleman are able to apply large amounts of force WITHIN that narrow time window of 0.1sec, that's why they can do it.
Great points!
Awesome tutorial, do you know why I stumble from the blocks?
It could be because you are too close to the line
you probably figured by now. However in case you didnt; 1. you're trying to go lower than your body is capable of 2. your blocks are too close 3. you need to sit back in your blocks more
That's my brother
