  • In this video I show how you can change the springs in the forks on the Tenere 700 by yourself.
It is not a complicated job and all you need is to make an internal puller which I made from gluing together 3 off 10mm nuts and put it on a threaded rod. One tool that makes leveling the oil is a motion pro tool but again you can make this by using a big syringe.
There is a free give away for 5 people which is mentioned in the video, so look out for it.
I also install an an adjustable fork cap so you can change the sag setting, but it is not required to do so, you can still follow along. also put on neoprene gaiters and change one bolt with nylon bolt on each fork leg.
I mention the torque values, and have not put it in the video as I try to keep them as short as possible for you. If you want the torque values for this job, let me know in the comments and I will make a link to a download of the torque spec sheets for you.
Hope the video is helpful, there is a few more mechanical job videos but the season is soon here and then there will be riding videos, tours, adventures and more.
Take care and keep the shiny bits up

This is exactly the video I needed. I was not sure if I should do this job myself or get someone else to do it. Thanks for a solid video. I'm gonna go order them springs now.

How are you getting on with the preload adjuster? Gonna have to get one of them, makes a lot of sense especially as I switch between riding hard off road and riding with luggage when doing the TET etc. thanks for this vid, very useful, will have to get some springs ordered 👍

How do you determine the viscosity and volume of oil that you need based on your weight and the springs?

    • @monkeybuttadventure2
      @monkeybuttadventure2  Před 4 měsíci +1

I calculate it, the link will show you how to do this very easily by yourself czcams.com/video/YQ_6dL1aXVg/video.htmlsi=xBZfR3-JRWhWNPBN

Greetings from 🇩🇪 Can you maybe give feedback if it works for you? Did you get the right sag now? I think about the Caps too. But not sure yet. I don‘t change much with luggage. Maybe i go with spacers. Did you think about this solution too?

Welcome from Germany, I was in Frankfurt yesterday and visit your great country a lot every year.
To be honest after i changed the springs the sag in front was spot on, but i might have to adjust for a big tour with more load.
But I would after i did the modifications with the knowledge i have today just swapped the springs and oil. Calculate it for your Numbers and that makes a big change on the bike.
      Best of luck

Welcome from Germany i might answer this twice as i cannot see my last answer so If you get two its a glitch in CZcams
I looked at spacers and the caps but ended up with the caps. The reason why is lazyness. Spacers is not possible to know before you put tvings back what is the correct one. So you need to install without measure, If it is off disassemble then install one spacer, back on and try again and again until it is perfect.
Caps is just put on and adjust, If you load up the bike you can easily adjust again.
Anyway as i mentioned in my last answer when i changed the springs the sag was perfect (with the caps with no adjustment)
So If you are in doubt I would just swap springs and oil as calculated for you and see, it can be perfect ir just a tad off. Then just stay with that. If it is off by a bit i would then order caps or spacers. The bike will be better with just springs and new oil and new oil level than stock anyway.
So there is no problem to wait with the caps/spacers. They are easy to swap later with the forks on the bike.
      Best of luck

@@monkeybuttadventure2 I'm glad you like it here when you're visiting. Thanks for your detailed answer. I really need a different suspension soon. I'm going to Italy in June to do some off-roading. I've got 10k on the chassis now and a service is due anyway. I'll try my luck with the springs first. And then I can always upgrade. Cheers and ride safe
