Also if you're sitting and your seat moves that far back, you're doing sth wrong. For most people it's enough to absorb impact through their legs and also most people are standing in technical sections.
Unless you’re a professional MTB there’s no reason to spend more than $1000 on a bike. Me personally have never ridden anything other than a Walmart mtb and I’m pretty good on the trails.

My first MTBs were hardtails back in the late 80s after I went thru the early 80s riding BMX so I've seen all the different bike technology come and go. I was rather fond of my Girvin Flexstem if you're old enough to remember those in the days before front suspension was even a thing lol. Ok the delta isn't like today's full susses in terms of tech but I've had my hands on a few decent ones since (my last one had an ohlins rear shock and I still didn't like it). They need too much maintenance for my liking, also costs too much to repair/replace parts over years of usage and I also hated washing them after a muddy ride. If you like decent spec gear and are a bit of a weight weeny like I am, a decent enough full sus is gonna cost you anywhere from 5k upwards. 😲 Do you know what sort of hardtail I can get for that moolah? 🤣 I prefer to be out on the trails with a natural feeling well specced hardtail and a dropper post, not piddling about in my garage with sticky linkages and never ending rear sus maintenance just for a bit of extra boing on the way down lol. What about hill climbing? Or do you get in the van for that part? 🤭

I also like hardtails but absolutely wouldn't choose hem when going at a bike park or doing anything more than a flow jump line. I mean, that's really what they like the best. You can totally get a much cheaper hardtail compared to a full sus and the spec would be similar but you're getting what you're paying for sometimes. And what about used bikes? I never ever will justify spending so much money on a new bike just for it to plummet to ground after the first ride. If you think cleaning is harder, then you should try and deal with my bike. I've got a 2015 Evil Uprising and believe me, when you gotta clean that rear shock, you're better off taking the whole thing apart. I'm joking, actually you can just hose if off with soap 😆. They are harder to maintain but that's a trade off I'm willing to make to keep myself stable with slow rebound on sketchy wet slippery downhill. Also, if you learn what your bike wants for maintenance and how to do it on a regular basis it can become fun. I personally like wrenching on my machine. You can always just lock the rear shock for climbs with the push of your thumb and be 90% like a hardtail. I shuttle about once per month just so we can do more laps. Our trail's fire road is 5km long.... let me know what you think
For sure, same for me, there definitely times that I miss my hardtail. Like dirt jumps, did an XC race and definitely would place higher if I used a hardtail instead. 👍

I run way more air in my rear shock. I don't like squish under my feet I only want squish when I hit big hits the rest of the trail can feel like a hardtail to me and my bikes run a lot faster set up this way

I prefer hardtail bike and i only ride hardtail but let me explain why. Hardtail are very easy to maintain and clean due to the rear suspension not beigh here ,they are faster to climb and very challenging for jump and hard terrain when a full suspension sure if fun and more confy but less challenging and finally i love the style of hardtail bike
