    A little update, I bought this guitar about a month ago and its been an absolute dream to play. I wasn't overly thrilled with the iconic 4th position but I swapped the pots for traditional 250k's and ditched the resistor setup. This caused the bridge to suffer but my I'm way happier with the upper position sounds now. I'll order some parts and get it dialed in next time I swap strings. Thanks for the awesome review, not everyone has the luxury of grabbing these at a local shop and trying it out, especially with Covid. These videos really are a blessing

      there is a mod you can do using 500k pots and a resistor where the single coil pickups will see 250k and the humbucker will get the full 500k. You can get a schematic online. hope that helps you dial it in.

      @@GuitarZen83 I'm a little late but I ended up using the Suhr mod, which sounds close to what you're describing but with the addition of a super switch. This is my first hss and I'm convinced the Suhr mod is the ONLY way they should be wired, it's perfect.

That looks interesting, a Schecter you can do blues and classic rock on, and probably all sorts of other lovely styles too. That is interesting! Hello Mr.Jon
    I was thinking about changing the string tree on my Nick Johnson HSS to a roller string tree. Have you had any experience with this type of string tree?

    Fantastically well played and you make it sound so good. But what about ebony in the fretboard, it cracks very easily but it may make up for it and does not affect the tone of the guitar. very nice guitar but is worried about the choice of ebony. At the same time, it is a very hard material, so it must be durable. But if it is of poorer quality and not dried as it should, it cracks and deforms the neck so it bends in some direction and the frets usually become sharp after a while when it has dried out. no problems with the fretboard so far?

    • @JonIsJustTooLoud
      @JonIsJustTooLoud  Před 3 lety

      Have you an Ebony fretboard that cracked before? Ebony is a Hardy wood.. but it will still need to be maintained and Oiled lightly especially in dry regions. This guitar was returned to the ship after the review.✌️❤️

    • @GripperCc
      @GripperCc Před 3 lety +1

      @@JonIsJustTooLoud I was going to buy such a guitar in the store but it had a crack of 15 cm already in the store so I refrained from buying it. Then I read about several people who had to return the guitars after a short time when they cracked or were cracked already on arrival from the factory. But ok so if you oil the board carefully it counteracts cracks. Yes, it is a climate issue when it comes to ebony as it is a very sensitive material to moisture and drought. Yes I have an acoustic guitar that has cracked in the fretboard but I do not think it affects the tone anything but just a beauty flaw.

    • @JonIsJustTooLoud
      @JonIsJustTooLoud  Před 3 lety +1

      There you go… any fretboard will crack if it’s not maintained properly

    I wanted to ask you something, This NJ model or the one in your other Schecter Van N video is better. I like it better and I think the USA pickups are better, especially the simple ones, more powerful. I have the Nick J version in SSS but it lacks nosority and clarity pills. I like all your videos, Thank you.
