    I suggest you use the tape measure tool to create guide lines instead of drawing a small line, like you did to create the rabbit on the top. It accomplishes the same thing, but its easier to use.

    Why not use rectangle tool to make leg instead of line tool? Also you can use guidelines from tape measure instead of temporary lines all the time, you can go to edit and remove all guidelines instead of eraser.

    • @_Shopfix
      @_Shopfix  Před rokem +3

      You can certainly use the rectangle tool, sometimes I find the line tool easier to work with. Correct you can use tape measure lines instead of using the line tool. I’ve tried both ways and found the line tool works better for me, easier to see, and easier to snap onto. It’s just personal preference, there’s so many different work flows that can be used to achieve the same result, you just have to experiment and use what works best for you! Thanks for the comment!

    Can I use this software for metal working. Such as gates, doors etc.

    • @_Shopfix
      @_Shopfix  Před rokem +2

      Of course! The program functions work whether you are building something out of wood or doing metal working! You can even design rooms and larger projects.

    I followed but at 13.29 I couldn’t get the push pull to only work for the rabbit or relief cut. What am I doing wrong ?

    • @_Shopfix
      @_Shopfix  Před rokem

      When you can’t get the push pull to only work for a specific part it means that the program doesn’t recognize the part as a unique piece. To make a section a unique piece you have to make sure that there are lines connecting each other to make a unique face on the board and to separate it from the original face. For instance if you draw a line across a rectangular face and don’t connect the line just right to the ends of the rectangle the line won’t separate the rectangle into two faces. The line therefore won’t effect the push pull tool. My guess is one or more of your lines at the endpoint aren’t connected. The other problem is that sometimes the program draws lines right above the surface instead of on the surface which effects it. You have to make sure that the line is drawn on the actual surface of the board. Hope that helps!

    Move tool option to copy, how to do option?

    • @TheOldCow
      @TheOldCow Před 2 měsíci

      While the move tool is enabled, press the ctrl key (I think the equivalent in Mac is the Command key), you'll see a + sign appear next to the move icon. Then when you move an object a copy is made.

    AXIS -not access. Im very confused because a 2x4 isn't 2x4 inches exactly. If this is a drafting program is it ok be using numbers like that? If this is for woodworkers use woodworker terms. You made 2x4 legs presumably ripped down to 3inches x 1.375. I think it would make more sense if you didnt keep saying 2 x 4s and just said this cut and that cut etc. if you were using real 2x4 dimensions 3.5x1.5 it would be understandable.

    First issue is your mouse! Get a vertical one. Second issue is view control. Chances are, you spent a crap load of dough on a table saw (pity about that) buy a 3DConnexion Space Navigator. 3rd: Change to Parallel projection, 4th: 2x's are 1.5, 5th: USE the Rectangle tool. 6th: you are wasting time with the Protractor tool used 4 times. Create ONE Component properly FIRST. Enough watching. You don't have a clue.

      Sounds like you know a lot about SketchUp! I’m definitely not a master at SketchUp this is simply a beginners tutorial to get started. I I think to each their own as far as what tools that are utilized in the program. I’d say at the end of the day if you have fun editing a design and get the job done who cares how one does it?

      There is no need to be so flipping rude dude! You could’ve said all that without saying he didn’t have a clue. Older people are usually more mature than that. Stop being a Keven, and try to be a little nicer. 🤦🏻‍♂️ Jerk.

      I don't think I would be judging someone else's video after seeing what you have on your channel. Dust control is not just turning an elbow to blow dust in a different direction. LOL!!! I have watched several videos on SketchUp and agree that there are many different ways to do things.
