I am from the Cape flats and was single digit age when this kind of thing went down but I vividly remember the guys from the time always being respectful and even warning people to go inside as there will be gangfights soon...This might even sound funny to somebody reading this but I remember being approached at about the age of 10 by guys that wanted to rob me as I was going to the shop,I immediately said to them that I was sent to buy a bread.. they told me to buy the bread and bring the change to them...they watched me like a hawk...I gave them the change and they walked behind me as I walked home which wasnt far,when they saw where exactly I lived they called me and gave the money back saying they didnt know I am the son of the cop living there and even gave me their names and said they wont do it again(saw them many times after that,one was killed in 2010 in gang related shooting and the other is currently legless and wheelchair bound)....this is a good 2 and half decades ago....look where we are now today compare that kind of "gangsters" to todays trigger/blood hungry kids. Seems like we our own worse enemy
