HLOM Guest Speaker Series: David Whitcombe, "Seneca Chief Packet Boat"

The Holland Land Office Museum welcomed as its latest Guest Speaker, David Whitcombe, who is a volunteer with the Buffalo Maritime Center. David shared the work that he and other volunteers did over the past four years in creating a working replica of the Erie Canal boat the Seneca Chief, for the bicentennial celebration of the canal in 2025. The original Seneca Chief took Governor DeWitt Clinton on his tour of the canal and was responsible of the "Wedding of the Waters." This Seneca Chief will be recreating the trip.
