HLOM Guest Speaker Series: Derrick Pratt, "Center of It All: Baseball on Erie Canal"

As the latest presenter of the Holland Land Office's Guest Speaker Series, Derrick Pratt of the Erie Canal Museum, shared the history and growth of baseball along the towns of the Erie Canal. From Troy to Buffalo, and everywhere between, baseball grew rapidly during the mid-late 19th century and throughout the 20th century. Towns formed teams quickly, but the popularity exploded with the rise of professional baseball.
