Fallout 76 Lore - What Happened to the Appalachian Brotherhood of Steel - Part 1

  • This video covers the history of the original Appalachian Brotherhood of Steel from it's prewar origins to its last stand.
    Mistakes:
    1. when I refer to the death of Squire Esposito, I meant Knight Esposito.
    2. I also switched Esposito and De Silva in the picture.
    3. I refer to 2103 as 6 years after the fall of the Brotherhood, it is 8 years after the fall of the Brotherhood

    If only the factions realized when the BROTHERHOOD thinks there not gonna make it and need help you step up and give aid like really

    • @IrresoluteCartographer
      @IrresoluteCartographer  Před 3 lety +9

      There were mistakes made on both sides, the SB threat was rising just as the Brotherhood was moving towards tech over people. If they had maintained their original mission the Responders may have been more open to their claims. Truthfully though, the fall of Harpers Ferry should have been a catalyst for the Responders to investigate the threat.

  • @thefallenC073
    @thefallenC073 Před 2 lety +7

    Can I point out that everyone except the Brotherhood were of the belief that the Brotherhood were bullies meanwhile they were struggling to protect people, they didn’t want conflict with the Responders or the Free States, they just wanted to protect everyone whatever the cost

    • @IrresoluteCartographer
      @IrresoluteCartographer  Před 2 lety +5

      Their biggest problem was communicating the severity of the situation. The Responders don’t seem to have gotten the message until it was too late. I have to think that if the Responders really understand the nature of the Scorch Beast threat, they would have provided all the help they could

    This was a good listen, especially learning about the Brotherhoods original goals and ideals, almost like the Eastern Brotherhood in the DC area, it’s comforting to know this at least ^_^

    • @IrresoluteCartographer

      They were able to transmit entire schematics (Ultracite Power Armor, Sensor Module), I figure the logo and uniforms were transmitted similarly.

      There are definitely things that I wish we got more of an explanation on, but I enjoy feeling of discovery that comes with unearthing the lore. I will say that it’s odd that with an organization as regimented as the Brotherhood, that there aren’t more dates on logs/journals/tapes/emails

      @@TheMissle that’s not what I’ve seen I’ve seen high levels camping workshops to prey on low levels trying to grind resources I’ve seen roving gangs of high levels that surround low levels with power tools and break entire suits of power armor I’ve seen them attack people for no reason. I’ve even seen people drop nukes on peoples camps to force them out of a spot because they dared to have their camp spawn where theirs was. Your experience isn’t mine chief and I find it very difficult to justify dropping nukes constantly when beyond the 1 time you need to do it to save the world.

    What happened to maxson that made him change the directive to just focusing on acquiring technology ?

    • @IrresoluteCartographer
      @IrresoluteCartographer  Před 2 měsíci +2

      The mission to collect and preserve technology was his own idea in the beginning; a purpose around which the Brotherhood could orient itself. Despite this, they initially had a split focus that included helping those in need. I believe that over time his son and his lieutenants changed the priorities, and influenced him in their direction. The recording of his final conversation with Paladin Taggerdy details his frustration with his son and his fellows turning against outsiders.

      I really enjoyed the world pre-wastelanders. The environment storytelling was amazing, but it also felt so much more apocalyptic than any other Fallout game. The Vault Dwellers were the only people walking the wasteland. It made it feel like our actions were hugely important.

    So basically it was a combination of maxson's stupidity and taggerdy's arrogance and "distrust" (read as disdain) of "civvies" that lead to Appalachia being overrun with scorched?

    • @IrresoluteCartographer
      @IrresoluteCartographer  Před 9 měsíci +1

      That and the Responders not trusting the BoS when they said they were fighting an apocalyptic threat, and Free States and Responders not cooperating, leading them to in effect duplicate work in the process. Lack of cooperation in the face of a second apocalyptic threat destroyed them.
