I feel like TNT higher ups is what killed WCW because they did not want the show at all.
It's not just your feeling. It's fact
That feeling was compounded by every WCW showrunner fighting fire with fire. Dusty, Ole, Watts, Bischoff, Russo - none of these egomaniacs navigated well around the corporate politics. They didn’t play corporate synergy ball; that’s the key difference on why I believe Tony Khan will find a way to keep AEW in the mainstream television game, even if consumer metrics drop substantially.
Would you want that garbage on your channel?
Agree
And the Aol merger.
yet they picked up AEW later.
This segment alone answers the question "Who Killed WCW". It's ALWAYS BEEN the UPPER MANAGEMENT OUTSIDE OF WCW
Precisely. That's why WWE had to rebrand to please advertisers and go PG as well.
Who Killed WCW? has turned so many grown adults into absolute children.
How? Everybody has a different point, different perspectives. That's life.
For real. EB, Disco, Vince R have all looked like total morons in the wake of this series.

Isn't it fun to watch though? What if it's ALL a work? 😂 90's wrestling nostalgia is one of the few remaining fun things around imo.
@@eastsidenell But Russo has facts but you don't want to listen to that because you're too desperate to make Cornette happy.
Vince Russo not having creative control in WCW is a well known fact, yet he gets 100% of the blame for the creative in WCW. It's insanity.
Totally agree, but Vince doesn’t do himself any favours by talking the way he does. But he gets way to much heat imo also.
@@lL-cc8uo not how it works. Hogan has creative control over his own character and the way he’s presented, that even goes to for the owner, so how could Russo break that contract if tna couldn’t and owner couldn’t. A writer gets vetted on what gets thru not everything they write is just automatically put because they a writer.
I've never heard anyone else credited with directing the booking or the segments produced on the show other than Russo, so that's why I get on his case about the garbage that was presented on WCW TV
When he did had control for the first couple of months he stops the declining ratings. The only ones that are denying it or playing mental gymnastics are Cornette fanboys. They're desperate to stay under Cornette's good graces even though that guy is a failure and has other men sleep with wife
@@russellcampbell3500 Here's one of the Cornette fanboys that I'm about. This fanboy is DESPERATE to make Cornette happy.

Get ready for Tony Khan Killed AEW
Good one 🤡
Tony seems like a nice guy, its a shame he clings to a position of power he shouldnt have
@@ChorizoPringoso he's holding back the potential of his own company
@@philwalsh8975 exactly, AEW has the infrastructure, production, roster and money to be so much bigger than it is, yet Tony doesnt know how to make the best of it...
@@ChorizoPringoso AEW has dropped for way too long under Khan's control. He's already at the stage that McMahon was in 2017-2019: he HAS to go
I'm following the 4-part docuseries of "Who Killed WCW?" like a grad student after watching each part in their entirety. Gut feeling is telling me the non-wrestling corporate guys did kill it among other things. There's more to it than we know and I am glued to the post stories from every side who witnessed the downfall of World Championship Wrestling.
The evidence was there from the start, the dirt sheets want to believe it was Russo, Bischoff or Hogan's fault
Feeny put your sunglasses back on, ya got crazy eyes and it’s scaring the viewers
Eric defended Russo. Its the end of the world as we know it!
you can tell eric was getting annoyed with discos stuttering and stamering babababa duuu duuuuuu🤣
Honestly, I think he was annoyed in how long it took Disco to finish!
Disco has no ability to ask a concise question. At all.
@@burntvirtue He even gets on Konnan's nerves.
Bischoff and Russo should patch things up. They are getting up there in age, you don't wanna carry any unnecessary baggage, or ill will this far in your life. No matter what team you're on, it's undeniable that they are both important to wrestling history.
Absolutely agree.
I predict that Bischoff stops working with Conrad Thompson before the end of 2024. He really, REALLY doesn't need him anymore.
🙏🏽
Unless he gets a better financial offer to do something else, allowing Connie to swallow that AEW pill on a weekly basis is a pretty sweet gig that I don't see Eric being stupid enough to walk away from. After all, it's just wrestling.
I hope, or Conrad needs to let someone else host with Eric
People need to step back and realize, with Vince canceled; Eric effectively the GOAT out of the ring in wrestling
I know they hate each other, but I would love to see a civil discussion between Eric and Russo, and actually hear both perspectives at the same time. I said it on Eric's channel as well, but especially at the end, everyone seems to have a different idea about what the arrangement was. Russo, Eric, Booker, JJ, Hogan, and anyone else involved all have slightly different stories. There really isn't any aspect that everyone agrees on. I've heard about the politics in WCW, but it definitely seems as if disinformation was being spread to everyone. Everyone got screwed to one degree or another. Eric thought he was in charge. Russo thought he was in charge. Hogan thought he had creative control. Booker and JJ were both told different things. I wonder who the middle man was that turned everyone against one another. Maybe that will come out one day.

Why bro stare into the cam with some crazy eyes first 2 mins he gone af😂
It'll be interesting to see if the day ever came for a podcast/interviews about what killed aew. As a reminder I don't wish for it to happen both now or in the future. It'll just be interesting to see if there ends up being similarities between aew and wcw.
I honestly think AEW has always been overhyped. TNA had better ratings, and lasted about 15 years!
Eric will be 90 and still gleefully talk about the wcw days 🤣
The fact is that Eric Bischoff saved WCW using guaranteed contracts and good creative (NWO) and then helped kill it with bad creative and the expense of those guaranteed contracts leading to large losses.
Eric basically built a veteran team using big money, free agents and while those veterans are still on their prime, he built a super team for about three years. Once those veterans got stale, the team struggled.
If your asking me who killed WCW?... id say Tony Khan everytime
I agree with Eric about the inevitability of WCW closing. How did it benefit AOL/Time Warner to kill the Fusient deal? Killing that deal cost them more than 60 million dollars just on the sale price alone, and that is not counting the various contracts they continued paying out for years after the sale. This fact alone makes it obvious that Eric is correct. They just wanted wrestling off their station. The Fusient deal would have allowed them to collect the ad revenue without having any financial responsibility for WCW. That was a much better deal than the one they eventually got with WWE.
That is pretty much the crux of it.
Feeney looks tweaked out 😂
1:00 😶😅
"I'm freaking out, man!"
Feeney looks completely stoned and Konnan looks sober.
Feeny's barely holding it together lol
Disco talks way too slow. It's like get to the point you're trying to make. He's still The Superior One, though!
It's not the speed that's the issue. It's the extra words and thoughts he tries to cram into one question. He can't just ask one quick thing, then STFU and let someone answer. That said, Bischoff's answers are just as bad as Disco's questions. Meandering, full of qualifiers, and additional unnecessary info before getting to what was asked.
The WCW series has been called a Eric Bishoff rehab project...But several people was responsible for it's self destruction...including Brad who represented those suits that didn't like wrestling anyway.
Bischoff & Russo vs Tony Khan & Meltzer is coming. I can sense it.
Eric Bischoff is the master politician in the best way possible. When with the Dirt Sheet podcasts he'll bury Russo, but here he's realizes these are Russo's friends, so he pivots, while maintaining his stance, to offer something positive toward the Russo camp. Masterful audience control to provide "good radio."
How do you watch the entire interview with Bischoff?
Patron it'll be up in a week on here probably
Russo’s creative is entertaining, it’s fake rasslin , fake fighting it’s scripted, you gotta have grown adult storylines to make it at least entertaining
Russo has created some of the worst storylines in history. He literally wanted to make an incest storyline in WWF and it almost happened. He's absolutely horrible.
@@astuteandyNo he didn’t that was a Vince McMahon idea….
I think an interesting topic would be to compare and contrast Turner Network relationship with WCW vs USA network relationship with WWF/E. It may bring insight to the business side.
Disco said “Sold WWE to WWE” 😂 But on a serious note, after watching the series I’m still shocked at how easily they were able to pull off what essentially was a coup. Ted’s power evaporated overnight and he was the only guy who had Eric’s back. When the owner loses his power and can’t save you, WCW didn’t stand a chance after the merger.
Bischoff is the oldest guy here yet he still looks like he could steal all their chicks
It’s the dimples. 😂😂
@@mykoniichistorychannel I'm down... I mean, WHAT?
Bischoff certainly didnt defend Russo with Conrad!
Its easy to tell when Bischoff isnt telling the truth because he uses word soup and misdirection and stutters despite being intelligent well spoken and usually very clear.
His crocodile sobs over a Kevin Nash comment at the end of that WCW crap made me feel like it was some kind of a Bischoff puff piece.
You should be working for the CIA with that mind-reading ability of yours
@@MABMGuitarMind reading? Those are basic observations of human behavior. They're all obvious. That said, I do believe Bischoff's emotion at Nash's words was genuine.

Bischoff saying he was just a consultant means he only has say and no control on creative, but he acts like he was in control.
Bro!!!
Who killed WCW 🤔 Management, creative the ones in charge calling the shots
I'd rather listen to 4 guys discuss WCW than anything WWE produces.
Vince Russo turned Mike Awesome into That 70s Guy, I just can’t get over it
The gimmick didnt fit Mike, but we cant say he didnt make it work
What about Mike Awesome - The Fat Chick Thriller
The gimmick change resulted in him getting more over with the crowd but a lot of people ignore this. He was getting zero reaction in the months leading up to the gimmick change, because sometimes being over in a smaller venue doesn't translate well to the bigger stage. The same thing happens now with NXT.
Judy on a pole match
He would've been better with an 80s guy gimmick with that mullet and just his whole shtick. His Scorpions theme music in ECW was great, as well.
Russo will get offended by this.
I feel like he gets offended by everything 😂
Russo Needs To Admit All His Mistakes. Then He Won’t Get Criticized Anymore Or Whoever Criticizes Him Will Be Wrong /Stupid/Bitter. Eric Bischoff Admitted Lesser Mistakes. Vince Russo Had Said Vince McMahon Sent Him To WCW To Kill It. He Didn’t Kill It But He Made Most Of Their Mistakes In 1999-2001. Injuries To Top Stars Was Out Of WCW Control & Eric Bischoff Wasn’t Given Enough Time To Gain WCW Momentum Back After Increasing Their Rating Up To A 4.1. Then There Were 1998 Standards And Practices. Eric Bischoff Didn’t Make That Much Mistakes In 1999 Not Big Mistakes That Dropped Ratings. Injuries To Top Stars & NWO Disbanding & Then The Hiring Of VinceRusso. Had The NWO Been Continued And Those Top Stars Weren’t Injured, WCW Would’ve Surpassed WWE In Ratings. And Then Sting & Randy Savage Return To Feud With Hart/Hogan & Goldberg Go Through The NWO One By One Until He Finally Get To Hogan And Then Sid Vicious Return.

Eric Bischoff is too good for this
I love this pod, but I’m really losing interest. You have Ez e on, and yet disco can’t stfu. Dude… get him off of the show!
I disagree with Eric that if WCW was making the money it was in 1996, 1997, and half of 1998 that Turner would want to get rid of it anyway. Companies even if they don't like one of their properties, wouldn't risk the financial hit they would've taken by losing WCW, and I do know what I'm talking about. However I do agree Turner tried to make it less profitable on purpose because they didn't want it and I think them wanting their network to be family friendly really helped kill WCW. So I don't think Eric deserves the blame for WCW going out of business, Russo doesn't either, but I love both Bischoff and Russo so I might be biased lol
Entertainment today is riddled with companies who risk severe financial hit in exchange for some idealism within the company. WBD today in particular, STILL puts out stinkers when they have obvious resources for profit staring at them in the face.
Disco sounds like he has brain damage. Can’t even listen.
If anyone is following Wrestling Bios you can see why WCW failed. All their shows sucked by 1999. Now they're all blaming some non-wrestling guy named Brad. Pathetic
Brad Siegel isn't some guy. He was the president of the TNT network. He didn't want WCW on the air on the network he was in charge of. Of course the shows sucked, but it didn't matter what was on the show when Siegel was determined to get rid of it no matter what.
AEW shows are much worse than WCW 2001 and they are still airing.
K-100 has potential, but it's got the WORST production of any wrestling podcast. This clip just fucking cuts off in the middle of Konnan's sentence. Disco is capital A Annoying because he cannot ask a short question. EVER. Joe is court jester, and not in an entertaining way. It sucks that Konnan's name is on this shitshow. Konnan these are your friends, but business and friends almost never mix.
It didn't cut off in the middle of Konnan's sentence, if you watched the full thing you'd know that Konnan actually changed topics. Hence the point of the edit.
