Eric Bischoff should just admit that he and Hulk Hogan were partners in taking advantage of the mismanagement of WCW, and milked the southern WCW "Rasslin" Pro Wrestling promotion dry. Just as they did TNA Wrestling, which TNA Wrestling was never the same. Both Ted Turner's WCW and the Jerry & Jeff Jarrett co-founded TNA Wrestling, which was eventually fully owned by Dixie Carter and the Carter Family (Panda Energy), with Dixie eventually running off Jeff Jarrett from his own company, much like what AOL Time Warner did to Ted Turner in WCW.
WCW & TNA Wrestling were unfortunately both misguided and mismanaged promotions. TNA is still with us with Anthem Sports and Entertainment as the parent company of TNA, but is a far cry from what TNA Wrestling was when Jerry & Jeff Jarrett owned. It's just that Jeff Jarrett and his late father Jerry Jarrett had financial restrictions that prevented TNA Wrestling to be on the level of WCW. Essentially TNA Wrestling in 2002, was/is the illegitimate son of WCW without the family inheritance lol, and Shahid & Tony Khan's AEW is the younger wealthy 1st cousin of TNA Wrestling and and nephew of WCW, that never finished high school, and is learing the family trade by trial and error (lol).

In all of the times that Bash at the Beach 2000 has been talked about, this is the 1st time I have ever heard about Bischoff’s dad dying that week of the event. The funeral probably happened a day or two before the PPV. That’s some heavy emotional baggage he had to carry through that entire weekend only to fly in & have to deal with backstage politics & the ensuing shit that went down!
you know what i find so crazy? it's been known for decades now that giving wrestlers creative control in WCW caused a lot of problems backstage yet Tony Khan learned nothing from it.

Eric Bischoff never thought at the future of WCW, he only ever thought about the present and kept pushing the same guys over and over. Booker T should have been pushed to the top way before 2000.

There is something that I believe you guys are missing with the Booker T and Bash At The Beach Situation, and I wish what I am about to say would have been asked to Eric Bischoff. If he didn't know anything about Booker T winning the title, what was the main event and who was winning the title from his knowledge? The Hogan vs Jarrett match was earlier in the show, so based on that Bischoff had to know there was going to be a main event for the title. So if he didn't know Booker T was winning the title until he landed in Tampa, who he thought was winning it? His story does not make sense while he is trying to destroy Vince Russo's character.
The story was hogan was going to take the title home and the title be vacant and start a tournament to crown a new champion now as to what was going to Main event or close the show either Steiner and Mike awesome for the US belt or Goldberg vs Nash

I remember on the broadcast Scott Hudson was saying that it was supposed to be Goldberg vs Nash as the main event...he could've been lying or repeating what he was told to say...but if it's the truth...that's the only plausible way that Hogan and Bischoff wouldn't know what the main event is...

WCW was stuck in the loop of pushing all the guys they were paying big money to because they were paying them to be the top guys. Hogan would put people over, he would just always get his win back. I could have seen if pitched to him in the right way Hogan putting Booker over; But he would have went for the win back at a later date. If Russo really never pitched the idea to Hogan for Booker to win the title that night. Then we cant ever know what Hogan would have said on it.

I'm still shocked that anyone especially Booker thought it was a good idea for him to win his first world championship unadvertised. Booker was my favorite WCW wrestler at the time but fortunately I was idiotically loyal to WCW and got all the PPVs at the time. I would've been so pissed if I didn't get to see that as it happened. At the time I thought it was all spontaneous and to find out all these years later that Booker knew days in advance he was getting the title at the Bash really disappointed me. I just don't understand why he didn't care that his fans that didn't buy the PPV were going to miss him winning the title because they didn't bother ordering it since they had no clue he'd be wrestling for it

How the hell would you know that? Were you there? You're biased as hell. They all accuse each other of lying. It's impossible to know who's really being truthful and who isn't without a lie detector test. It'd be very interesting to see a number of people take one of those, and it's the only way to truly get to the bottom of who's to blame for WCW's demise. Of course, it will never happen.
Anyone that believes anything that comes out of Eric Bischoff's mouth deserves to be lied to. Both Bischoff and Russo were full of shit, and Booker was just in the right place in order to benefit from it. Russo got pissed off that Hogan was pulling the creative control card, so Russo put the belt on Booker because he knew if Hogan tried to take the belt off of Booker there would be instant backlash not only from the fans but from upper management, as Booker was black and WCW was in the middle of a racial discrimination lawsuit. Bischoff knew just as Hogan knew.

Eric never gets asked what the main event was gonna be and why did Hulk Hogan need the World Title after we already had multiple title changes. Jarrett at least had been champion then for over a month. Eric's story makes no sense because why would Hogan's character walk out with the belt and sit home til Halloween Havoc with no world champion on the show each week til October

The way Im hearing it is that Bischoff and Hogan didnt know there was an effort to make Booker T the champion.
Russo tries to arrange for that after they leave the building to get himself over as the one that to make a "black champion" and delegitimize Hogan.
How could they not have known? The Hogan vs Jarrett match was earlier in the show, which means there had to be a main event. What did Hogan and Bischoff think the main event was going to be?
It was no secret that Booker was winning the belt. Booker knew, Others in Creative knew, and even the Dirt sheets knew. It was reported days in advance.

The original idea was for Hogan to walk away with the belt and come back months later to challenge the interim champion WCW would crown at a later point, not that evening.
At the end of the day, mistakes were made. The right man won, and the rest is history. I think Vince should have discussed it with you. However, playing devil's advocate, maybe he knew (or felt) you two would have nixed Booker winning the title so he decided to just do it anyway. He came from Vince McMahon where it's, "better to ask for forgiveness, than permission" and that school of thought. Yeah it's not what you wanted Eric but, was it the right decision, hindsight being 20/20?

All these years later and Bischoff is still lying his ass off. Both he and Hulk knew what Russo was going to do because they agreed to it. Otherwise why did they stick around and do the planned script? Bischoff himself said they knew Russo was going to cut a scathing New Yorker angry promo on Hulk. Do I believe Russo may have said some unplanned things? Yes absolutely. But to claim Bischoff and Hulk were some clueless innocent bystanders is also complete BS. Here Bischoff also admits they were never going to push Booker T as long as he and Hogan were in charge. These types of politics are why WCW died a slow death long before March 2001.
Right why else would Jarrett cost Booker the match with Kanyon. So it can set up a match later in the night for Jarrett to face Booker 🤔
