    Have to say, this was the BEST explanation for making a template and using it with the print and cut feature. I believe it's easier than having a perfectly squared jig as simply aligning the two targets makes it foolproof no matter whether your jig is square to your laser or not. Love it and currently engraving 64 round 4-in coasters right now with a jig I made using your instructions. Thank you so much for sharing!

    Great job!
    Lightburn is one of those 'hidden' costs associated with buying a laser machine
    It seems way more useful than doing work in Inkscape, then importing it into XCS
    I didn't budget for the program because I simply didn't know.
    I need to sell a few projects to offset the additional cost.

      I ran free software until it no longer did what I needed it to- from there it was an easy transition to LightBurn. Today I run LB on all my Laser Diode, Co2, and Fiber/Galvo machines. It's really nice to use one software suite across multiple machine types!

    I've seriously watched a lot of videos regarding templates, and your video is by far the most detailed and easiest to follow.
    Seriously...you're awesome!
    Quick question, if you use the nudge tools to move the laser out of the way so you can pop out the material, will it remember the coordinates that were set during the process, so you can just drop in new raw material?

    • @thelaserchannel1
      @thelaserchannel1  Před rokem +1

      Thank you for watch and your kind words! To answer your question- "it should" and by that I mean in Absolute Coordinate mode the laser will always know its position in relation to the project location.

    • @thelaserchannel1

    Been searching for an alignment video and this is the best yet!
    When re-aligning the laser to the engraved crosshairs, are you using the projected offset laser target, or the diode laser on the low power target setting(forgot proper name)?
    Thank you!

    • @thelaserchannel1
      @thelaserchannel1  Před rokem +1

      Thanks! I have the offset for the crosshairs turned on so for me I used the crosshairs to align to the template targets. The laser "FIRE" dot is much smaller/finer than the red crosshairs and would offer a more precise alignment, but using the crosshairs still produced great alignment results!

    Nice tutorial. I will use this soon. One quick question as I am quite new to lasers. I have the D1 Pro, the cross hairs are not directly under the laser, same as yours. Is there any tuning that needs to be done for alignment accuracy? Or is it automatic since you did the alignment with the the points on the template and Lightburn? Thanks.

    • @thelaserchannel1
      @thelaserchannel1  Před 11 měsíci

      Hi- in Lightburn software, the cross hair offset is taken into account, this can be found at Edit> Device Settings and Laser Offset. I recommend testing on some cardboard first. Just keep in mind you must use the Lightburn "MOVE" command like in the video to move the laser head to the targets- if you hand push the laser than Lightburn will have no idea where the actual laser position is.

      Hi- Yes- I'm using the bump stop homing. Just make sure the machine does not bump against any cables or anything soft- for best results the bump stop will bump into metal frame parts. Thanks for watching!

    Can you recommend power and speed settings for Xtool D1 Pro 20W version for cutting regular cardboard boxes?

    • @thelaserchannel1
      @thelaserchannel1  Před rokem

      I don't have run setting for the Xtool D1 Pro 20w- I would recommend 20mm/s at 100% power or 10mm/s at 50% power if you don't want to run you machine at 100%- this should get you go starting point. I bought a xTool D1 Pro Upgraded Laser Engraver after a frustrating connection with Makeblock after having issues with the laser quitting after about 20 minutes. I communicated with them over a 3-day period and finally sent it back to Amazon. How has yours been working?

    • @thelaserchannel1

      I have the D1 10 watt (non pro) and only had a couple minor issues. Makeblock would get back to me after after 2-3 days initially- after that message turn around was 1 day. My issues were all addressed and fixed. The Xtool videos are not sponsored- I purchased the machine with my own money and do not have any special "CZcamsr" attention from Xtool service.

      I ran into this too, I made the template and the alignment targets to fit inside the work area of the machine. If I had the alignment targets too close to the work area of the machine sometimes the machine would bump the homing limit switches.
