  • In this video I struggle to pronounce the name of one of the four blue inks I am reviewing as part of my ongoing series on blue fountain pen inks. This time we look at Pilot Iroshizuku Tsuyu Kusa and Skin Kai as well as Noodle's Baystate Blue and Liberty's Elysium.

I very much like the broad pen, but would find it more valuable if you showed the fine and broad samples physically close together. Sometimes the ink can appear as a very different color depending on how much is deposited on the written page. Thanks! Loving the Blue Series!

    Love your blue ink reviews.
Still too scared to try Bay State Blue, though!
At about 7:50 you referenced Liberty's Elysium being very close to Pilot Iroshizuku Kon Peki, which you reviewed in a previous review, but I haven't been able to find that ink in any of your previous reviews. Hope you reply and point me in the right direction....
I have about nine of the Pilot Iroshizuku inks, most of them blue or teal, and I can totally understand your fondness for Shin Kai (Deep Sea Blue).
Blue-blacks are some of my favorites after blues and teals, and Shin Kai is one of the best. Very peaceful yet appropriate for formal communication.

Thanks again. Baystate Blue is an INTENSE ink. I had it dry in a pen the cat knocked behind piece of furniture and it took three days of soaking and cleaning to get it working again!. Regarding the Kon Peki, it was one of the first inks I bought and I was certain i had included it in my first blue ink review. When I was checking what inks I had reviewed in preparation for my next video I was surprised to see I had not reviewed the Kon Peki yet so it is one of the four I will be reviewing in my next video in about a week.

I've been using Tsuyu-kusa for a while and I really like it! The shading on a medium-flow nib is really neat. I think the proper pronunciation is something like tzu-you ku-sa. And for Baystate Blue, I just got a bottle of it yesterday, been really enjoying it so far. It's really saturated even on the dry nib of my pocket sailor pen, it was really a perfect fit.
Sadly Goulet pens doesn't ship to my country, so I probably won't be getting a bottle of it any time soon.

Can you tell me more about the blue state, please? I feel it is very bright but still lovely but an issue of feathering all over the cheap paper which is in formal use ( hospitals, offices ETC ).
As a solution, I am using blue state in finer nips pens which will make less feathering . otherwise you can't enjoy that ink in everyday use papers.
please , advise similar colour and fewer problems.

    • @g.websterstudios6674
      @g.websterstudios6674  Před 2 lety +1

Thanks Mustafa. Feathering on cheap paper is an issue common to most inks, not just Baystate Blue. It sounds like you have found a solution that works for you. I have only had Baystate Blue for a couple of months now so I can't tell you too much more about the ink than I covered in the video. It is known to be a staining ink and I have a pen where Baystate Blue dried out in the pen when the cat knocked it under a cabinet and we didn't find it for about 8 weeks. Now I am struggling to unclog the pen. (Open to suggestions) As for any similar inks, I haven't found any yet. If I find any I will do a comparison video of them. Not much, but I hope that helps a bit.

To pronounce Tsuyu-kusa (four syllables), think of the way some people in Europe (especially people in CZcams catvideos shot in Turkey) call their 🐱s ["tss, tss, tss"] blendrd with an "ooh", as in Winnie the P"ooh". So tss + ooh = [tsooh] & [yooh] which becomes "tssooh-yooh" (two syllables), almost like what a lawyer does, "sue you", but with a tss blended with the "sue". Not "tooh-sooh", but said belended together quickly, "tssooh". The second word is, kusa [kooh-sah], So all together it becomes = [tsooh-yooh, kooh-sah]. Just remember that in Japanese, all vowels are short, except for the "o" which has a long "oh" sound, as in, "oh-oh". a, e, i, u and o = "ah, eh, ee, ooh and oh". Iroshizuku = "ee-row*-she-zoo-koo". *Actually the "r" sound has a blended "L", "R"...your tongue will brussh the roof of your mouth. It's hard to explain in words. Some English speakers use a hard "r" sound and that's understandable. In shin-kai, think of "kai" as in "high", "bye" or "guy" but with a "k", and you don't. have to emphasize the "ee". Just "kai" as "hi". In Japanese, the vowel sounds are similar to the vowel sounds in Spanish and Hawaiian. So u-ku-le-le is actually "ooh-kooh-leh-leh", and not yook-ka-lay-lee. 🍍🌺🌴🏄🏻‍♂. It's easy, because the vowel sounds never, ever change, as it does when speaking English. Do you have other blue Pilot Iroshizuku inks? If so, which one is your favorite blue? How would you rank your blues Iroshizuku inks? I just bought a bottle of Pilot Iroshizuku Ama-iro, but I didn't open yet. I'm afraid that it might be too similar to Waterman's Inspired Blue. Do you have both inks? If so, would you say that they are just about the same color or quite different? How does Iroshizuku Shin-kai compare to Diamine's Prussian Blue? Or other Blue-Black inks? I think your broad nib, dip pen is a great idea! But it would be even more helpful if you could write with the dip pen next to the glass pen marks, that would make it easier to do a side by side comparison.. Which of the two pen holds more ink (requires less re-application of ink)? The glass or the dip pen? Which one do you like better and why? Thank you so much for all your informative videos! 😊

Liberty's Elysium is a limited production exclusive to precisely one dealer?
No thanks. I tend to dedicate a pen long term to a particular ink. An exclusive one dealer ink is going to have short term availability ~ possibly "one batch and it's history!" short term.
Don't at least some of the Pilot iroshizuku blue inks allegedly have a sheen when used on some (but not all) papers?
Supposedly the isuki-yo has a reddish sheen. I haven't noticed any sheening on Rhodia paper, though.
