  • In this Part 11 video, a two-man crew from FloForm Countertops install new quartz countertops, manufactured in Spain, on our custom-made cherry base kitchen cabinets. The quartz countertop we chose is Silestone, and the color is Lusso: floform.com/products/lusso. Near the end of this video, they install a window sill made from the same quartz. The craftsmanship, enthusiasm, and eagerness of the lead installer to explain every step of the process resulted in an exceptional product and an educational and entertaining experience.
Background: Having spent four years of our retirement in a small ranch style house built in 1978, we were ready to remodel the worn-out farm style kitchen. But the timing was bad. We were in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, and most contractors in the area were overbooked and unavailable, even for an estimate. Then one day as we again passed by Tim’s Custom Cabinets, located at a new round-about in a residential area, we stopped in to inquire if they could give us an estimate. A month later, we sat down with Tony, the owner of Tim's Custom Cabinets and signed a contract for a major kitchen remodel. As it turned out, this remodel project took excruciatingly long to complete and was extremely disruptive to our daily life.
The total cost: A lot of clams!

We have a nifty cart for bigger pieces. Back saver! We also just got a crane on the truck to pick up 800+ lb islands. We dont use an inclosed trailer so that helps us. Paralligns are great for seams!

Great guys, period of their work and result. Would love to see those guys do my countertop too.
Am more surprised about the cabinets not being level and there not being a system to make them level. Never seen it like this before. But i guess it worked.

Cabinets are RARELY ever level, and when your installing stone you need flat ( hence the shims) and if its level on top of that even better.

May I ask whats the finish of the countertop? Is it Suede? If yes, do you have issue with stains after some use? I like the sueded finish, but read so many bad reviews for the staining issue.

We live on the Olympic Peninsula in Sequim, WA. The contractor we hired to remodel our kitchen is Tim's Custom Cabinets. FloForm Countertops was the sub-contractor who provided and installed the kitchen countertops, backsplash and windowsill. The quartz countertop we chose is Silestone, and the color is Lusso: floform.com/products/lusso/. I do not know the cost of the windowsill because it was included in the cost of the backsplash.

Kinda annoying that these installers say this is normal rather than hold someone accountable for it. Homes are forever, they’re not meant to be rushed and have the shit work covered up with “trim”
