Hi. I was going to purchase this bar for my son but after seeing a lot of reviews about the bat cracking really fast I’m still thinking about it. Do you think that braking in a new bat correctly will lower the chances of the bat cracking ?
Thanks for the question. Unfortunately, there is not really a way to guarantee a bat won't crack.
That being said, the first time you use a composite bat (like this Speed Comp), it is best to go through the recommended "break-in" progression of tee work, to soft toss and then to live batting practice. After that first session of hitting, you are probably fine to go about using the bat in any order you wish.
If I were to pinpoint the biggest thing that can be done to try and keep the bat from cracking, it would be to make sure that the bat is being used in the correct age group. I believe that this bat will best serve a player that is playing coach pitch baseball, machine pitch baseball or a player's first year of kid pitch baseball. After those levels of play, I think the swing speed of your player and the pitch velocity will be too much for this very lightweight bat to handle.
If you have a player that is 10 years in age or older, I would suggest looking to a drop 10 bat to try and get better longevity out of it.

Is this recommended for machine pitch?
Yes, this would be an excellent bat to consider for machine pitch use if you are playing within a league that is governed under USA Baseball rules.

@@justbats thanks for replying. I went ahead and bought the bat for my son because it was 2oz lighter than his current bat and his swing seemed to be suffering due to the increased weight.... his swing is much quicker and he is hitting the ball harder now but he also reports stinging in his hands. He is 8 and we’re using the 27/14. Also this bat seems more balanced in the weight distribution than his previous bat which seemed very top heavy.
@@kpmcdonald1 We both this bat for our son too and he is 8 and he loves it so far he jumped up from swinging 24/11 to 27/14 and its a world of a difference for him
how does this bat compare to the ghost x ?
The Ghost Bats will be considered the higher quality composite bats from Easton when compared to this Speed Comp. However, if you wanted to a composite material bat at a little cheaper price, this Speed Comp is a bat to consider.
