Check out "Jungle boogie", "Get down on it", "Cherish", "Too hot", "Joanna", "Celebration", "Hollywood swinging"
And "Misled"
Ladies' Night too!
And 'Steppin out!'
Honest Abe doesn't lie
Don’t forget, “Tonight”!
having grown up in that era i find it a bit sad that bands like this don't exist anymore.
Damn right, it’s a shame
So true, ❤❤❤❤❤❤Kool & the gang
1984 folks This was a billboard top 10. The term “Fresh” was very popular in the early 1980’s Thanks haven’t heard this since my early days of college.
The dancer in the video was the lead dancer on "Solid Gold". It was a tv show that had different musical guests & did a count down of current music. She was also in "Thriller" with Michael Jackson in the ending group dancer. She stands almost directly behind him.
Kool and the Gang is probably one of the best bands ever besides Earth Wind and Fire. Their music spands decades starting in the 60's. This song came out in the 80's Fresh is definately an 80's term. This one of my favorites.
ABBA
Totally agree. 2018, Kool And the Gang on stage in South of France ❤❤❤❤ and EWF on stage in South of France again in July 2023..Amazing❤❤❤❤
Yes, the song is released 1984
Rose Royce too
this is 80's here this when music was out of this world its was like a bowl of different types of candy. it was good miss that time.
Kool and The Gang had two stages, the early and mid 70’s R&B, funk ,Soul and jazz era and with the addition of the lead singer here James J.T. Taylor many late 70’s and 80’s R&B , funk, disco and pop hits. Both eras made this group legendary . Many hits to dive into, especially Jungle Boogie, Ladies, Night, Take My Heart, Joanna, Stone Love, and Cherish.
What about the funk song Hollywood Swingin before JT joined the group.
Then everyone's fav Get Down On It!
I love JT! What a great preformer! (actually the whole group is the Bomb)
1984, not late 70s. This was their FIFTH album of the 80s.
"Too Hot" is another banger from them, killer bassline and very sensual. This was the 80's. Fresh was an 80's term that meant Great, awesome, fantastic, cool and fashionable.
Clearly these two are some idiots because they don’t know the years of this music with so much technology out here and they’re clearly oblivious to this music like they’ve been under a rock u can’t blame it on age either because when I was younger I knew all of the Motown music and I wasn’t even born then so yea these two are idiots I can’t stand this generation
"Get Down On It"!
All K&G stuff is dancy!
Please do "Get Down On It" next. Kool And The Gang were skating rink ROYALTY!
I love Kool and the Gang! J. T. Taylor, the lead singer is so cute and so smooth! This song is from 1984. They had a string of hits in the late seventies and eighties! Check out Ladies Night, Get Down On It, Too Hot, Joanna, and many more!❤️❤️
It's off of the album "Emergency" which is probably my personal favorite album of theirs!
1985
They been around since late 60s/early 70s but their first hit was 1974s "Hollywood swinging" hit the charts in early summer of 1974.
@@bqkmg2037 Emergency Album, 1984
@@GinaGeeILuvu Your right...i looked it up on Wikipedia it does say 1984...i thought it was 85..sorry..lol
This song came out on their 1984 Album called "Emergency".
Always loved this group (and still do), LOTS of great songs from the 70's and 80's ("Fresh" is 80's by the way): "Cherish", "Get Down On It ", "Tonight", "Misled", "Joanna", "Ladies Night". "Celebration", "Too Hot", "Take My Heart (You Can Have It If You Want It", "Let's Go Dancin' (Ooh La, La, La), "Jungle Boogie".
"Cherish", "Joanna", & "Celebration" are some of my favorite Kool & the Gang songs.
You can't forget "get down on it"? Not just my favorite one of their songs, but one of my ATFs!!!
I totally remember 80s Cool & The Gang music. I was introduce to their music by my girlfriend at the time, and I most said I felt in love with their music. I was more a Soft-Rock fan, but Cool & The Gang and Earth Wind & Fire have a special place in my heart. Great music, great musicians, and great band!
This song actually came out in 1984. The term fresh became a catch phrase. Like..... Man that was really fresh.
It's almost as if Fresh Prince Will Smith took his name from this song. ;)
🤦♂️
This song was released in 1984 but their 1st big hit I remember is "Jungle Boogie" from 1973 when I was in 7th grade and it's one of my favorites. I loved the lead singer, James "J.T." Warren Taylor. They have many great songs like Hollywood Swinging, Ladies night and Get down on it. They were most popular from the 1970s & 1980s.
Jungle boogie was from 1973...hollywood swingin 1974 fresh is from 1985 not 84...i know this i use ti dj in those days.
@@bqkmg2037 Online it says Fresh was released on 11/24/1984 but I'm sure it was played a lot in 1985. Yes I know Jungle Boogie was from 1973.
@@alamc200 Your right...i thought it was 85...it was 84 im bad lol
"Honey" is Darcel Wynne. Choreographer & lead female of the Solid Gold TV series.
“Hi De Hi Hi De Ho” & “Be My Lady” are pretty good too.
They actually started in 1964 and I think they still perform. I remember dancing to their music in the disco's in the 1970's. Oh those were the days!!!
Kool and the Gang Were Awesome. The Bassline on this song is sick. One of the first ones I learned on the Bass in the early 80's. Yes their was Great Funk bands in the late 70's, I remember them well, But, Kool and the Gang were one of the best. Funky and Groovy with great vocals. Those were the days.
This was palyed at my hs prom. 80s for sure. I graduated in 85. God they where great.
my 2 favs from Kool were always Celebration #1 and Get Down On It #2....both have great videos!!
The sound of that Bass. Absolutely fantastic !
"Joanna", "Tonight", and "Too hot" are my favorites from this band. 🔥
Oh man I grew up listening to Kool and the Gang....such a awesome funky band....never tire of their music and infectious groove. Was honored to see some of their set at the 3rd year of music midtown.....so much fun 💗🕊️
Joanna, Too Hot, Jungle Fever, Misled, Cherish, and so many more are amazing Kool and the Gang songs.
Thanks for doing Kool and the Gang may want to try Ladies Night
You must listen to Too Hot, Gef Down On It, Celebration, Ladies Night, Jungle Boogie, Joanna, and my favorite chill song is Summer Madness, you would love it Amber!
This came out in 1985-86. The dancer is Darcell Wynn. She was the lead dancer on a hit show from the 80's called Solid Gold. Another hit of theirs, which to me is underated, is Take My Heart.
She was one of The Solid Gold Dancers? No kidding? I remember they introduced them individually, and each had their own 3-second or so routine that ended with their own distinctive end pose that had them look directly at the camera.
@@Calinicus72
Yep she was the lead dancer on Solid Gold.
"Fresh" is a song by the American group Kool & the Gang. Released as a single in 1984 from the album Emergency, the song peaked at #9 on the U.S.
Absolutely love Kool and the gang! Grew up listening to them. And Fresh is my favorite from them. Their music is like therapeutic to me.
Thanks for bring us one of the greatest group of late 70s and 80!! they never stopped producing hits, and never let down in front of the overwhelming number of artists of the same style
That bassline... funkin' fantastic :)
The dance floors stayed packed in the 80's! The best era!
"Fresh" is a song by the American group Kool & the Gang. Released as a single in 1984 from the album Emergency, the song peaked at #11 on the UK chart, #9 on the U.S. Hot 100 chart, and was number one on both the U.S. R&B and dance charts.[
One of if not my favorite band growing up. So many incredible hits at exactly the right time in my life. "Tonight you will finally see the light" So good.
this is '84. their early 70s was great-Hollywood Swinging, Jungle Boogie, and FUNKY STUFF!!!
Kool and the Gang here we go. "Ladies Night" maybe on Female Friday also "Take it to the Top", "Big Fun" a group that were around at the same time were ,Heatwave "Boogie Nights", "To hot to Handle" and "The Groove Line" they were also great dance floor hits
Cherish. 100% Cherish. That song just does it for me. So damn beautiful.
Always dug Kool & The Gang :-)) RIP Mr. Bell --- Jungle Boogie in heaven
Kool and the Gang's "Fresh" was released on November 24,1984 on the De-Lite Mercury label.
Gosh, to be young again! I love coming here - it makes me so nostalgic!
They were a crossover band from the 70s to the 80s. This particular track was Early 80s. You can tell by the electronic drums and keys.
One of my favorite 80s gross everrrrrrrr!!!
You guys must understand that this is a BAND...the video is fun to watch because it the MTV era. But to see this band live..was a true experience. The vocals and the band played their instruments...they really put on a real performance. Joanna was my jam!! If you get a chance to listen to that cut...the harmonies are just Stellar. Glad to see that the younger generation has some exposure to the R&B classics....Kool and the Gang was "smokin"...Enjoy. Hey...you guys should listen to some Stevie Wonder performances...you will get your minds blown!....Love the channel....KUDOS
My baby sister went to Van Halen concert around 10 yrs ago and Kool and the Gang opened. She said all the ladies were screaming and danced thru their whole set. The women were so disappointed when Van Halen came out. They such had a way to get us on dance floor.
Kool and the Gang are COOL!
Kool and the Gang was a great group in the 80's. Ladies Night, Joanna.
I used to play Kool & The Gang in the car when my granddaughter was little and she knew this song by heart. Love this song and my little chickadee singing it!
This is my all time favorite Kool & The Gang song. Love the lyrics, love the steady dance beat, love the relentless bass guitar (played by Kool himself) laying the foundation under it all. Love the dancing and singing, non-threatening, no gansta', inviting all to get up and move ya' body.
Kool & The Gang were big on the pop charts when I was in my mid-20's. Thanks for reacting to it. Can't think of a better song to start out 2022 with real hope and a smile! Thanks too for your Kool Holiday Greeting picture!
Three Kool and the Gang songs I love are "Cherish, the Love","Get Down on it" and "Too Hot".
J.T.Taylor the lead singer was a School Teacher before joinng the gang.I'm so glad he did.
He's Goooooood.
Ladies Night and Get Down on It are 2 of their best!
Great band-too hot, celebration, Joanna, ladies night, get down on it, misled, cherish
Cool and the Gang also appeared in the British BAND AID single ''DO THEY KNOW ITS CHRISTMAS
New subscriber & 63 years young! Made me want to jump up on the lighted up dance floor & turn on the disco ball!! Love hearing you listen for the first time to such amazing music! Makes me feel young again! Love you two! ♥️♥️
Linda G
So many great Kool and the Gang songs from late 70s, through the 80s. My favorite is Misled.
Omg, that 🎵⬆️ *high note* ⬆️🎵 at the end of *Misled* ‼️
Kool and the gang- cherish . Awesome
Bopping and shoulders moving with a big smile..it's the 80's! Yes!
I go waaay back to the early 70's with their song called Hollywood Swinging. Love my soul music.
They started as a jazz band check out Summer Madness. They then went to funk "Hollywood Swinging" and Jungle Boogie then went pop with Ladies N.ight
Kool & the Gang is an American R&B/funk band formed in Jersey City, New Jersey, in 1964 by brothers Robert "Kool" Bell and Ronald Bell, with Dennis "Dee Tee" Thomas, Robert "Spike" Mickens, Charles Smith, George Brown, and Ricky West. They have undergone numerous changes in personnel and have explored many musical styles throughout their history, including jazz, soul, funk, rock, and pop music. After settling on their name following several changes, the group signed to De-Lite Records and released their debut album, Kool and the Gang (1969).
The band's first taste of success came with the release of their fourth album Wild and Peaceful (1973), which contained the US top-ten singles "Jungle Boogie"[1] and "Hollywood Swinging". Kool & the Gang subsequently entered a period of decline before they reached a second commercial peak between 1979 and 1986 following their partnership with Brazilian musician and producer Eumir Deodato and the addition of singer James "J.T." Taylor to the line-up. Their most successful albums of this period include Ladies' Night (1979), Celebrate! (1980), and Emergency (1984), their highest selling album with two million copies sold in the US. Their hit singles during this period included "Ladies' Night", the US No. 1 "Celebration", "Get Down on It", "Joanna", "Misled", and "Cherish". The band continues to perform worldwide, including as support for Van Halen in 2012 and their fiftieth-anniversary tour in 2014.
Kool & the Gang have won numerous awards, including two Grammy Awards, seven American Music Awards, and, in 2006, a Music Business Association Chairman's Award for artistic achievement. As well the band has been inducted into the New Jersey Hall of Fame and been bestowed with a Mobo Award for Outstanding Achievement, the Soul Train Legend Award, the Marian Anderson Award and a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. During 2018, the Bells, Brown, and Taylor were also inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame.[2][3][4][5] Their discography includes 23 studio albums and almost 70 singles. They have sold 7.5 million and 4.5 million RIAA-certified albums and singles, respectively, in the US.[6][7] Worldwide, they have sold 70 million albums.[8]
So much time in the 70's was spent dancing to Kool and the Gang, so fun. I miss that time so much, we were all dancing fools, we were all in great shape from it, and we were seriously cool. We were so cool, we didn't even realize how cool we were :)
“Too Hot” is the smoothest jam you’ll find. It’s perfect.
Possibly my fav kool &The Gang track.
They started forming their band in the 60s but in the early 70s Jungle Boogie”was a big hit you might want to listen to it it’s really good. There songs were popular in the Discotheques!
"Cherish" you have to react to the song "Cherish" by Kool and the Gang. Also, "Jungle Boogie" "Too Hot" and "Hollywood Swinging".
I will never get tired of this song.
Kool and the Gang have been around in some form since 1969.
Here are some others: Cherish, Straight Ahead, Joanna. You could really fill an entire week with their stuff.
Kool and the Gang had two big musical eras in the '70s and '80s. I first heard their '80s ballads "Cherish" and "Joanna," then discovered their '70s material (Jungle Boogie, Hollywood Swinging) as I got older. I love their early '80s material the best including Celebration, Get Down on It, Misled, and Tonight. There's also a late '80s dance tune they did called "Stone Love" that's really catchy.
the lead singer is James JT Taylor and the fella singing with him is Robert Kool Bell...Kool and the Gang
How about a reaction to a Tulsa band that hit it huge? The GAP Band was formed by three brothers, Charlie, Robert, and Ronnie Wilson. GAP Band stands for "Greenwood, Archer, Pine" streets in Tulsa in remembrance of the Tulsa Race Massacre. They were a huge success in the 1980's but continued until retirement in 2010.
The song that takes me back to my younger days is "You Dropped A Bomb On Me". It's a definite banger. I spent a summer in 1985 working at a seafood restaurant in a sailing resort area in southern Maryland. Everytime I would bring dishes back into the kitchen I would stick my head into the dishwasher area and sing out "You Dropped a Bomb On Me" to receive a chorus return "BABY!". This song was a dance hall favorite. You'll love it if you haven't already heard it.
Celebrate, Lady’s night, cherish, get down on it, Mislead , Joanna are all great songs as well.
Misled is a great song and never gets played as much as their other hits.
Agreed on all songs and also agree that Misled is a awesome but underrated song
Take a look into their earlier stuff - Hollywood Swinging, Celebration, Jungle Boogie, Get down on It, Too Hot, Joanna. Hard to go wrong with most of their catalogue.
Cherrish too
I have memories of roller skating under the disco lights back in the early 80's to this song.
"Fresh" is off of the 1984 album "Emergency." Other songs from that album that also were hits include the title track "Emergency," "Misled," and "Cherish."
Got to see Kool and the Gang in Oklahoma City at that amusement park many years ago. They were awesome. Misled is my favorite... I can still remember the first time I heard it.
Yes! The 🎵 ⬆️ *HIGH NOTE* ⬆️🎵 at the end is so up there, even I, a soprano, have to strain to reach it!!
Love Kool & The Gang. Lots of hits. I saw them live twice in the 80’s and once in 2019. One of my favorite bands of all time. So fun.
Now this is my music. Funk, Soul, R&B.
Hollywood Swinging. Best song ever!!
Ha!!!! So I loved this song in the 80s. They had another one called Cherish. Love those love songs. .... Ok. I still know all the words!!!!
One of the few benefits of working in the casinos was the shows, I got to see Kool and the Gang a handful of times, always a good show even in the 2000’s
This song came out in 1984. I remember it. This band had hits during the 70’s and 80’s…this is 80’s.
True .. true!!! 😁
La mejor música de todos los tiempos!!!!
The Bass player on the song was “planking” the Bass something fierce! Never get tired of hearing this song.
This was 1984. You have to do "Misled" and "Tonight" now. My favorite Kool and the Gang song has no video, but "Emergency" is my all time favorite song. When I had to replace my cassette with a CD, I had to get it from France. I can't read the liner notes to save my life.
Throwing out for next weeks female Friday.
Irene Cara “out here on my own”
Or *FAME* Or *FLASHDANCE ~WHAT A FEELING!*
Kool and the Gang was big in the 70s and 80s. Celebtation was late 70s, but this song was from the mid 80's. The dancer was "Darcel" the lead for the Solid Gold Dancers. She had all the moves!!
One of my brothers favorite groups when we were kids.
Check out The Brothers Johnson. (Stomp featuring Thunder Thumbs on 🎸 )

@@Diva369No doubt. How could I have forgotten about that one
Oh man, Kool & the Gang is a deep rabbit hole. They started out in the late 60s as Funk pioneers, lots of horns, some juicy funk. In the late 70s they switched it up a little, added singer J.T. Taylor and smoothed out their sound while still having some funky vibes. As Amber knows Celebration is a HUGE hit for them. Also Jungle Boogie, Hollywood Swinging, Too Hot, Get Down on It, Summer Madness. Ladies Night, Open Sesame, Victory, Misled, Joanna, Tonight, Cherish and Stone Love are a chunk of other great hits worth checking out if you're keeping a list.
And don't forget Funky Stuff!
@@ohfour-seven6228 Funky Stuff is great, there's just no good video of it, only audio
@@eddiegoofball There's a pretty cool Soul Train version with them playing and lots of dancing that's really fun, and interesting facts popping up.
The late 70s disco was the rage. Kool & the Gang jams were in all the clubs. There were longer club or dance versions of some of their dance hits.
I graduated from high school in 1980. All the graduating classes from all the schools were able to go to grad night which was held at Disney world in Orlando Florida. It was closed to the public on this particular occasion and only the graduating classes were allowed in the park. On that night you would be able to see all kinds of groups performing. Kool and the Gang was one of the entertainers. KC and the sunshine band played in front of Cinderella‘s castle. They were the main event.
Kool and the Gang, OMG!!! And this song, brings back so many memories of my childhood. You can't help but dance to this song!!!
Always great music from these guys. "Joanna" is another great song. These were out in the 80s Jordan, not 70s. 🎼🎤❤
But the band was FROM THE SEVENTIES. NOT the 80s so enjoy that Super sevnties music and you are welcome.
"Too Hot "🔥 is a great groove and "lady's night"
Kool & the Gang have an incredibly deep and quality discography. Going back to the late 60's. One of the most sampled groups in history. Songs y'all need to check out from them
1970's: Hollywood Swinging. Give it Up. NT, Jungle Boogie, Summer Madness, Funky Stuff, Ladies Night, Too Hot
The song Fresh is from their 1984 LP Emergency. The entire side A is 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
I used to do alot of disco dancing and all R&B dance steps. Bringing me back my sounds back. I really appreciate you two. Thanks for broadening your musical listening minds.
Misled - Kool and the gang. Another banger off the same album as fresh! Thanks for bringing me back to memory lane with Fresh! Great reaction!
I am a rocker . this is one band that I would love to be inducted in the r and r hall of fame ! they served it.
Kool and the Gang has changed more than once. This is the 80s "JT" version. The dancers behind james taylor were horn players in the 70s. Open Sesame is a must play!
