Minerals of sedimentary rocks in microscopy: calcite, quartz ... (by Mrs. Ruault-Djerrab)

This video is intended for students in the common core of Geology, or any other interested public (high school students for example). It presents the main minerals of sedimentary rocks, in thin section, and it follows a previous video which presented these same minerals in macroscopy. A slide show shows some of these minerals and their main microscopic characteristics.
This video was put online as part of the Sedimentary Rock Petrology Practical Work for the 2nd year of the STU License at the University of Guelma in Algeria (Teacher: Ms. Ruault-Djerrab).

Où puis-je trouver un microscope polarisant doté d'une caméra et un ordinateur pour exporter des images de haute qualité ? (Dans la région de guelma- Annaba)

Peut-être au labo de Pétrographie de l'Université de Annaba ? Pour ma part j'utilise un appareil photo de marque Sony que je positionne simplement devant l'oculaire. C'est un peu long et plus fastidieux mais cela permet malgré tout d'obtenir des images correctes.

Excellente vidéo Madame. Il manquerait juste un petit mot sur la dolomite et les argiles en général.

Tout à fait. Mais je présente dans mes vidéos les échantillons de TP dont je dispose (lames, roches, fossiles). Pour les minéraux manquants, il y a bien sûr un complément mais à partir d'autres références (atlas photographique par exemple).
