Hi great video, can you make a video about spotting hazards and also coming up to a pedestrian crossing? It is something I’m curious while I’m driving

Hi. Thanks for the comment. So do you want the hazard detection and response for the Full License test or just how you check for Hazards while driving?

Hi , thanks for the great videos . Just a quick question - what speed should you slow down to before checking up and down the lines. I’ve heard 15km/hr and 30 from different sources . On a busy road with say a 70 km speed limit , are you really expected to slow down that much ? Also in the practical tests are you expected to do blind spot checks every time you turn like it says in the road code or only when it’s possible for another road user to get into you’re blind spot , like when merging , changing lanes etc - like they say on the drive.co.nz video . Cheers

      Hey there.
Blind Spots. Both really. They are just worded differently. The second one answers it better though, you must do them whenever it is possible for another road user to be in your blind spot so that means before you move the car enough to the left or right to potentially move into someone else's path like every turn, merge, lane change, bus lane, bicycle lane, reverse parallel park and so on, you must signal, check the relevant mirrors and do a blind spot check in the direction you are moving before any movement in that direction.
Railroad tracks. There is no speed that you must drop down to so it really is up to you but it has to be a speed that gives you enough time to look down the tracks both ways and make sure it is clear to proceed over or brake in time if a train is coming. I usually tell people about 30 kms in 50 km area and 50 kms in a 70 km area but it all depends on how much line-of-sight you have down the tracks.
