Mel Blount has always been a hero of mine. Together with Donnie Shell, a great combination of humility and character.
These guys are still in amazingly great shape.
Very well deserved. Two HBCU brothers and Steeler Hall Of Famers. Sharing their faith in god. I can't watch this enough. We love you Mel and Donnie. Legends.
HERE WE GO!!!!!!!
Bill Nunn ex-Steelers scout found these great players
It's about time the Hall of Fame woke up and finally gave Mr.Shell a place in the Hall of Fame. Congratulations Mr.Donnie Shell on your Hall of Fame induction.🖤💛🖤💛🖤💛🖤💛🖤💛🖤💛🖤💛Here We Go Steelers Here We Go
Congrats Shell, long overdue!
Now this is what role models and hero’s look like. Two of the best that I’ll never forget. Well deserved Donnie!
Mel Blount is my favorite corner back!
Happy that both Donnie and Mel are in the hall of fame together!!!
Wonderful to see two men of faith expressing their appreciation and Brotherly Love for each other.
Congrats 31 for finally getting in to the HOF and well deserved... Love the 70s Steelers and very awesome human beings !!
next up is LC
So happy for #31 🖤💛🖤💛🖤💛
Congrats to Donnie shell. I know Mel Blount is already in. What a great day for the Steelers And the Steeler Nation. Nothing but love for them. He will be in the "Hall of Fame". Bill Cowher and Troy Polamalu.
As great a group of football players as they were, it was their character, fortitude, sense of brotherhood, one for all and refusal to lose or
Let their teammates down that really epitomized the 70s Steelers. We will never see a group of men like that again or a team that personified them as men
I grew up in Pittsburgh during the 60s and 70s, Mel and Donnie both hit like hammers. I’m proud to be from Pittsburgh because of the Steelers.
Mel Blount looks like he's in his 30s but the man is 71 years old. I pray I age as well as he has
Yes Sir, being around and working with kids has been his life's work.
They have a way of keeping one young and humble.
Ada boy Donnie!!! It’s about dang time!!! Congrats!! An awsome awsome man!!! I got you and Mels autograph at st Vincent in 1980 in between the practice field and cafeteria ,which is where you guys were heading. At the time I was 13 I idolized you and that whole defense! To one Christ follower to another, thanks for the memories!!
VERY APPRECIATIVE of both men's contributions both on the field and in society. #What real heroes look like.
Some Say The Steel Curtain Was Only About Stopping The Run .Tell These Guys They Couldn’t Stop The Pass And If You Dared To Go Across The Middle You Get You Head Knocked Off !!!!
I grew up with Mel Blount’s daughter, Tanisha. The Steelers of those days used to live in the city and were very accessible. As kids we used to visit art Rooney’s home, Franco Harris, John stallworth and they were all friendly and down to earth. Man, those were great times to be a kid.
As great as their HOF careers were, they have proven to be even greater men of character. Noll would be proud of their lives work!
Awesome players and awesome people God bless them!!!
5 guys from the same draft in the Hall of Fame. Thats crazy
Bee TT and they didn’t need Mel Kipper
It's still a crying shame that L.C. Greenwood isn't in the Hall Of Fame please get this right.....
Totally agree with this! You can blame Peter King as one of the issues - he thinks there are too many Steelers from the 70's in the HOF.
@@TommyC503 That doesn't matter nor can a man like LC hope that he was so good on a team that overall was extremely talented. So are you supposed to punish the offense for being equally as talented? L.C. is a hall of famer period point blank
@@TommyC503 Why does someone like Peter King get a vote? Ppl who actually played coached and scouted the game should comprised the selection committee
@@nineblowe Preaching to the choir
@@nineblowe If Ron Yary, a Tackle from the Minnesota Vikings is in the HOF then LC Greenwood should get in on SB IX performance alone - LC totally destroyed that guy in the biggest game - destroyed him.
Not only Hall of Famers but great men, these guy's ooze masculinity...we need more men like this, not only in the NFL but in America.
reminder that the man in the cowboy hat (mr mel blount) is 71 years old..
Saying his prayers, eating his vitamins.
Enjoyed watching these guys. So glad I didn't have to play against them.
Fantastic interview, Thank you for sharing such great memories and spiritual awareness. God Bless
Congrats Donnie!
This is everything that is great about the NFL.
Congrats to the great Donnie Shell...but may I also point out, that Mel Blount pratically looks like he could still play. I hope when I'm about 70 years old, I age like that.
F'n great, class acts and 2 of the all time best
Amazing Donnie Shell and
Harry Carson were on the same defense in college...
Next year L.C.Greenwood long over due
Donnie Shell was the man!
Awesome story love video
I'm guessing the 2 thumbs down are dallas cowboy fans.
2 very classy guys congratulations Donnie you definitely deserve to be there ,shouldn't have taken so long .
Good video Go Steelers cool story
Damn. Donnie looks like the CB and Mel looks like the SS.
Wonder who the one person that did not like this interview he must be a jagoff
Mel Blount looks like he would have made a hell of a Texas Ranger! At 6'4 he's an imposing guy.
I hated to see Mel Blount and Donnie Shell retire when I was a teenager. The 1980s were the decade all those greats retired.
They are very special men who are "doing their life's work" as Chuck Noll said many times.
Why the music
Blount looks like he can still play.
Faith (God) first. Two of the best Steelers ever.
If Kenny Easley is in the HOF then you have to put Donnie in there. Much better player than Kenny was.
First
Great video, but music needs to go away.
Franco Harris...Suddenly died
