- I recently passed a big anniversary.... ten years since my life changed. It was the day my audition track aired on national television. I could never anticipate how different my life was going to be from that moment on. I’m grateful for the experience. To get into the industry so young meant I could make mistakes with teenage naivety and the gusto to keep going. Some days were hard. Sometimes I couldn’t walk down the street without someone hurtling a nasty comment my way. Which I won’t lie, was incredibly difficult to process as a child. That being said, it’s turned me into the strong woman I am now and for that I’m thankful. Unfortunately the show has now ended and though I have mixed feelings about it’s demise no one will be quite as sad as my mother - who has now lost her Saturday night show! When I stepped onto that stage 10 years ago, I had only one goal “to find out whether or not I could even sing” how funny but amazing it is now still be calling it my “job”. My deepest, purest love is what I’m blessed to do everyday. Over 50 released songs later - and counting! So for the show I am grateful for being the catalyst to my confidence and kick up the back side to pursue my dream ❤️Thanks so much to everyone who has stuck around over those 10 years, it means more than you’ll ever know! Same. I remember watching it as a terrified, shy freshman in college moving away from home for the first time. Now I have a master's degree, an apartment with my boyfriend of three years, and so much more confidence and joy than I used to have.

@@OffshoreITguy and my opinion is that I made a very obvious parallel between the day I first watched her sing and how she and I both changed. It IS about her and about WHY her music means a lot to me. If you choose to be judgmental, don't act surprised when the person you judge isn't particularly thrilled about it.
Her audition is one that has occupied space in my mind for years now. It was incredible and so is this.
I still watch your original audition every once and while and it always makes me cry. Your voice is just so beautiful and there’s something about seeing you at that age come out of your shell only while your signing just ,,,, it’s unexplainable. It connected to me at such a young age and still does.
Janet, I'm an old git yank who loves your music, and your journey. So glad you found sobriety at such a young age!! I have 35yrs clean and sober now, and after sobriety, lived an amazing adventurous life including 10yrs in Africa as a bush pilot.....a dream from childhood. There is nothing better in life than doing what you love most, and the bonus of getting paid for it! Eventually, we all get old, and it sucks in many ways......but if you live your dream, the memories will help make those late years truly golden. Almost every night as I lay in bed, I find myself back in the sky, over the most beautiful lands on earth, and feel young again......what a gift!! Don't waste a minute, as before you know it, you are past your "sell by" date. Wishing you the best life has!

I saw that too Dale. My head snapped around when the vocal started. It was a Japanese skater who interpreted the song beautifully.

I was forced to watch the show by my then girlfriend (now wife) and her mother, I hated most of it until I heard your voice. I instantly said you should win, but I soon realised that you were destined for better things than being tied to a strict contract with all that entails. I am so glad you have worked things out for yourself, I still keep coming back for more! So proud of you!!
