"Druckmann was interviewed on the Sony website as part of its âCreative Entertainment Visionâ presentation, which it describes as its long-term vision for where it âwants to be in 10 years, with an eye towards future technological advancesâ.
Asked how he envisions the fusion of storytelling and technology over the next 10 years, Druckmann said he thinks itâs getting easier for people with no technical ability to fully realize the ideas in their head.
âWeâre seeing this exciting marriage of cutting-edge technology with traditional storytelling thatâs pushing us into a future where enhanced fidelity isnât just about achieving realism, but about broadening the spectrum from highly stylized visuals to ultra-realistic ones,â he said.
âThis broadening of possibilities is fueled by increasingly accessible tools that allow even non-technical people to use their imagination and create worlds and narratives to their heartâs content.â
Druckmann then specifically cited AI as an example of this, stating that while it has its problems which have to be resolved, the technology itself can be used to expand what is capable in game development."

Thanks for great thoughts and nice job done.
Druckmann is a story writer. He creates stories. And produces documentaries. About himself. Self-promoting, his stories. That solve war and end hunger. With his man-bun. And his cardigan. That let you know he identified as a feminist for 3 years of the last decade.
I'm sure his train of thoughts are: "They can't accuse me of Crunch if I don't have anyone working under me. You're so clever Drukman"
That's exactly what I thoughtđđ
Neil didn't the get #1 boss spot at Naughty Dog until 2023. He's not innocent with the crunch stuff but he was far from the reason for it lol.
Wells has only been a financial figurehead since Jak and Daxter. It was always Druckmanns creative process that resulted in Crunch, starting with his attempt to completely rewrite U4's script.
Lack of crunch is causing these lame ass games that are 5 hours long, and take 5 years to make.......
â@@iaqhexactly, hasnt anyone noticed games are actually worse now, without crunch??? So buggy or short or lame or woke or all of the above đ€ź

Bruce Stanley was the true genius behind the last of us. He reigned Druckmans ego in and made the narrative coherent and believable. As soon as Druckman pressed Stanley out of the studio, you could see how the second gameÂŽs narrative turned to absolute shit. Neil has no actual clue how to make people relate , because he is so detached from what an actual human being feels. He is so far up his own ass and such an ideologue, that whatever he does next, is gonna alienate even more players.
Thank you!
Exactly, Druckman is a semi competent writer with some interesting but overly ambitious ideas. Part 2 just from a baseline writing level is all over the place, flashbacks within flashbacks, characters just not getting screentime and two separate timelines sort of interweaving but not really until the end.
It's just a really messy game compared to the first.
I finished each TLOU two times and while part one was great, I liked part two more.
Agreed. The problem isn't even his ideology. The problem is the guy is literally drunk on his own farts he can't tell when his audience starts running for the bathrooms because of the fumes.
@@MoinWoll My condolences.
Game Dev here. at 0:45 you ask what the Studio Head is. It's complicated lol, different companies can have someone with that title, but they will do different things. In my experience, the Studio Head makes decisions based on what's best for the studio and it's not strictly about the game projects. It can be facility decisions too, reviewing budgets, being involved with marketing, things the staff needs, etc. Generally, the Creative lead like a Creative Director will come up with the story or premise of a game, Design Directors come up with gameplay and system features. Stuff like that. The Studio Head can say "No" to what the creative leads come up with. And in some cases the Studio Head can make a call and say "Do this." A creative lead and studio head are not always the same thing. Most of the time it's beneficial if these are two different people.

Somehow, it is NEVER the executives who risk losing their jobs to AI. Never mind that it would be far cheaper for a company to replace them, and that theyâd probably do a better job.
Game design and development is about creativity and artistic expression. AI has nothing to do with such concepts.
AI has been part of gaming for decades, the AI they are talking about is not the AI people are talking about right now
Unfortunately that isnât for us to decide. If the bosses want to get rid of humans to write narratives, then they will do that in an instant. Labor is nothing but a line item to them.
If AI can be used to cut back on some of the more tedious parts of game development, then it can be used to free up developers to do the things they're actually passionate about. Well youâre here so you failed
The last clip of the Last of Us Part II documentary was from spring 2023, where Neil Druckman teased having a concept for part 3. This is speculation, but my guess is that Sony had a say in what was and was not allowed to be shown from the footage of the development process and all that jazz. They may have allowed that clip to be used for the end of the documentary because it is in fact the intention of NaughtyDog to pursue a final chapter of the Last of Us one day. I believe itâs probably at least 5-6 years away since they are most likely working on another game right now, but I donât think itâs an accident for Sony to allow that teaser of sorts to be the last part of the documentary. If there is anything at all about the game right now, it is most certainly still in the earliest stages of pre production while they work on this new game.
Imagine Part 3 isn't even a game and instead it's a book or some other form of media. That would be insane and hilarious.

@@tehbeernerd yeah to show how low ellie has fallen, mate.
At 6:45 he literally says 'total freedom, I'll never take that for granted' yet a minute earlier come up with that bs statement 'they were pushed into this live service yaya by corporate. I whish gamers would get it into their heads that these devs are just like normal people and want to make bank. Same story as with Rocksteady and all the other big studios that released garbage live service games.
They shouldn't go back to the Last of Us. I'm one of those people who feel that Part 2 was a mistake and I ignore it's existence. They ruined the story imo. I'd rather they just make something new
Part 1 was a literal perfect story for a decade. Then they had to mess with it. Im of the opnion they should just retcon part 2 and just ignore ever making a part 3.
No. Part 2 was incredible.
They should have just set TLOU2 with an entirely different cast and not touch the original cast. You HAVE an ENTIRE CONTINENT you can use and you just force in the OG protag cause "Well what else are we supposed to do!?!?"
@@ShyestofGuys i agree thereâs a lot of potential and itâs worth seeing a new story, but Iâll stand by what part 2 was.
Part 2 was just as good as 1 imo
@@enjoi0555 Absolutely. It's not AS well crafted and has more issues with pacing, but it's still really good
My man, you really gotta take this down now. You can't leave this up in good faith with what we know now.
What?
I absolutely love part 1 and played it multiple times. Part 2 was a chore to get through, it felt like an eternity and the story was kinda meh. They should just leave it like that, part 3 does not need to happen in my opinion.
Druckmann: Siri, write me a story made for women and men who sit on the couch with their legs crossed and their hands folded in their laps.
I wouldn't trust them to do another one. I disliked 2 and it cheapened part 1.
it absolutely didn't cheapen 1, 1 set the foundation for 2 and those events are bound to happen regardless of how much people hate it. Joel's actions have consequences, and he drove a rift between him and Ellie.
In what possible way did it cheapen 1, what type of nonsense is this
@@Indigo_1001 It entirely changed the characters of Joel, Tommy and Ellie. It asserted that Ellies death would have ensured a cure, when in part 1 the odds were slim to none. And it treated the characters and the players like children, with heavy handed writing and dumbed down morality, for starters. It's the opposite of 'good writing' and 'character arcs'. We can start with that.
@@Ha-fy6zv Ah, I've heard so many talk about how they dumbed down Joel, and it's one of the stupidest talking points I've ever heard, that highlights just how bad the whiner is at critical thinking.
@@user-jt1js5mr3fI think the issue is how defenders constantly say âJoel was in a great environment for five years, so of course heâs softened and isnât as sharp as he was in part 1.â That to me is one of the laziest excuses Iâve ever heard. Itâs like they forget that Joel had to survive in the apocalypse for 20 years by doing some pretty heinous things, which caused him to become a survival expert. That doesnât just go away. Five years doesnât outdo twenty.
the last of us sound track ( music ) in the background , O boy, this music is amazing. make me feels and remember all the suffering and pain in the game . memories....
What do you mean somehow? You were working with superglue it's bound to happen! đ
I'm convinced Neil already used AI when he wrote the story for TLOU2 because it was such cringeworthy crap.
I scratch the bald spot at the top of my head at you sometimes.
You obviously have a lot of respect for druckmann.
The man is a malignant narcissist.
He is.
He manipulated the situation to get rid of Amy henning and his co studio director leaving him in charge.
He is a Sony Vp as well as a studio head.
Through his manipulations.
So he doesnt deserve your adoration.
I dont care what happens to the studio.
I dont want the employees to be fired or laid off but I have 0 interest in what games they make.
The TV show last of us continues and if it is successful Druckmann will make another game in the franchise . He won't have the choice although he pretends he does.
He may do something else first but I have doubts it will be successful as his narcissism will keep him from seeing its flaws.
none of thatis true, but go on.
This is a insane take and absolutely wrongs
He didnât push Henning away at all and he conceded Bruce to stay in Naughty dog for one more game with Uncherted 4.
Maybe do some actual research instead of parroting blatant misinformation? You need seek mental help for hating so much on a complete stranger that his worst crime was making a debatably âbad gameâ
@@vault29a yes it is.
Why are you writing this like it's a poem?
Oh god I know the pain of getting superglue on your shirt. That shit is never gonna come out unless you cut it off.
suggest making an update video to this given its come out that it was basically sony rewriting what he said lol
Hopefully it'll revolutionize Druckmann's story writing too, cause TLOU 2 story SUCKED.
The anonymous, and mysterious new game by Neil DruckmannâŠskepticism starts. Honestly, I enjoyed the Uncharted trilogy and Uncharted 4 A Thiefâs End
Amy Hennig, whom druckman singled out and fired, is largely responsible for the Uncharted trilogy
@@faedrennsuch a shame because all uncharted games were so good. I didnât really care too much for the LOU series but, I enjoy part 1 better
@@tonydeluna8095 I enjoyed that they didn't take themselves too seriously, and I still like the first Last of Us.
@@TheBlargMargyeah thatâs true! Iâm on the same boat, I enjoyed the first game, I didnât really care too much about playing as Abby. But as for the uncharted trilogy, I am going back to playing all of them again
ââ@@faedrennHow did Druckmann do that lol? Also, the 2 best UC games are the ones Neil worked on. UC1 and UC3 are the worst of the 5 console games.
Since TLOU part 2 was released, I've been wondering why they didn't make a story DLC about Tommy's 3 days in Seattle, so to know that Naughty Dog has at least been considering more content with Tommy is great to hear.
i meran it would be the most pointless dlc ever made, alongside with tommy+joel in 20 years of apocalypse game.
@vault29a how is it pointless? It adds to the narrative already given. I'd rather have a part 3, but at least some type of DLC while we wait would have been nice imo. What would you suggest instead?
well, you still need to ask Anita what she's going to have her lapdog do on 'his' next game
When we getting the solo Abby adventure, where she contiues on with her trans sidekick and maybe they take up pup-play and find a colony of post apocalyptic Furries.
Or maybe we can get a bigot sandwich origin story.
Since Part 2 is your favorite game of all time, what else is in your top 5?
@@joshuatealeavesSuper Mario.

I really hope that we get Naughty Dogs next game in 2025. I'm absolutely craving a game that genuinely feels next gen. It seems like they'll only have time for one this generation.
Anything with Naughty Dog and Druckman is a no go from me , I miss old Naughty Dog.
I don't care for anything involving him period
Naughty Dog really needs to make fun games again! What happened to that Medieval Fantasy IP, the insiders were talking about!!
I like how Naughty Dog was founded by two Hebrew school buddies who didnât like the trend of gore in video games⊠and now itâs headed by an egotist who forces his employees to watch Liveleak videos to make realistic violence
I dream of the Medieval game.
That said, Last of Us Part 2 was a fun game, so they never stopped, they've simply slowed down
