Hi Billie here. I don't know how can go through that store without buying everything. You have given us an education as always. Thank you so much.
Haha very true. I need to go back!
The 'monstera minima' is a raphitaphora tetrasperma lol it gets tagged as mini monstera because of the leaf shape 😄
Damn nice either way
I was surprised he didn't catch that 😅
Nice tour! I find it very interesting to see garden centers from other countries. What they sell, at what prices, and how they arrange plants. Thanks for the trip!
Thanks for watching!
Incredible how expensive plants in UK are
Where do you live?
They normally aren’t this much. Just Dobies taking advantage of the popularity of houseplants. Won’t be going there ever . Will stick to my locals New Leaf and Ferndale
@@leehouten2345 ooo they’re my locals too
Morrison's supermarket is the cheapest but you don't get the range. This week I bought an 8cm asparagus Serengeni for 30p. 1 dying stem but otherwise healthy. I think the only reason it was reduced was because it was end of range.
Local markets are usually the best bet - although even those have crept up quite a bit since I started house planting in 2020. I live near a big one in Leeds and have a browse regularly. Common and popular plants like snake plants, peace lilies, dragon trees etc are all around the £6-8 mark for a medium size suitable for a desk or windowsill. I've never been to Dobbies but judging by this video it's far more expensive than average, a decent selection of plants but they don't look particularly well looked after. I won't be in a rush to shop there.
I find these shopping videos so relaxing.
Hi there Mr Sheffield, really appreciate you
Thank you 😊
Good choice! I really loved that peperomia. I've never seen it.

Great video. Fun. 😊
There plants look beautiful some I have never seen
The beautiful philodendron u just picked up is a philodendron narrow plant, is the same plant I am growing currently, really easy to care for. :). The Calathea
Is so hard to make it thrive. I totally agree with u bout the Calathea is a very fussy plant. I used to have one beautiful Calathea plant, the leaves kept turning yellow, no matter how much I take excellent care. I used to have 1 pink and one 1 anthrium plants that thrive in a grow tent. Sadly my 2 anthrium died recently. I have one Pothos plant thriving right now. I got some beautiful bamboo plants continue to thrive.
Urgh Calatheas 😬
great vid, and you bought the ones i would have! I was genuinely a bit sad over the thought that that adorable pickle plant was going to be left there 😅
I visited the Litle Dobbies Chiswick and I found their prices to be rather expensive and some of the plants did not look very healthy.
It is quite expensive. But the range is fantastic
I love the string of turtles, great find ❤🪴
You have great resistance! I'd have bought at least 5. Sigh. I put the ones I like in a rolling cart.... then decide at the end which ones I want. I should do it your way, then, like you, I'd forget the others I fell in love with. That would actually help!
Your way sounds much more efficient!
Im not a fan of dobbies its very expensive. You should check out the deans near york if you havnt been. That place is incredible
Plant negligence in garden centres is annoyingly common! Especially for new plant parents that don't know the red flags to avoid, yet. If there's one place that should know how to look after a wide range of plants, it should be a garden centre! 🤔 #wingeoftheweek
It's very frustrating. Just gotta find a decent one and stick to it!
Come and see us at Hayes in Ambleside, Cumbria. We’ll look after you 🌿🌿🌿
At 5:24 when you honed in on that succulent, I saw a tiny one earlier yesterday. Then came home watched this, had to go back and get it. It was the only one left, never seen them before. I had picked it up looked at it but knew nothing of how it would look bigger. It was in bad shape but a good watering and looks better this morning. Little Warty is says. Coolio. My aloe Vera grows like weeds but it’s a skinny one like shown here. Shoots out boat loads of babies but it stays outside in the shade (Texas heat, too hot in full sun) and it’s happy
It was a little too expensive for my taste 😅
@@SheffieldMadePlants I get it.
They both look great together 👍
Hello from Sheffield too! So glad I found your channel! I’ll be going out to Dobbies after watching this, not been for a while, have you been to Ferndale at Coal Aston, right on the edge of Sheffield on the border with Dronfield, they have some awesome plants, lots of rare baby plants too!
Yes I have and have done a video there
czcams.com/video/IxHzwpxMdQU/video.html
Really like it there, it’s great for houseplants! Which others do you like in the area?
@@SheffieldMadePlants I like new leaf just down the road from ferndale, there’s also a wards a bit further around the corner but I haven’t been there for a while so unsure of their selection! Thanks for the link! Off to watch now!
@@emmanetts new leaf is nice too but probably better for outdoor plants. Will check out wards
I love watching your shop tour videos! I need to get to some, the main one I have that sells house plants is B&Q I think there is also a Dobbies in my area and a Poplars. I recently purchased some baby plants online and the one you purchased the 'pickle plant' is on there too! The site is Moose plant shop. I ended up buying 3 plants, but wanted so many others
I recommend Dobbies if you can get to it
@@SheffieldMadePlants there is one not far from where I live. I'm always a little wary of buying from a store
Is that a big box store?; What a nice variety that aren't generally seen in big box stores across the pond.
The dark philodendron looks like a dark lord. I would have a meltdown and buy more than I should.
Birkins revert to the beautiful rojo congo. They don't produce the white striped variegation until more mature. When they start reverting they get these ruddy brown splashes on the leaves.
It’s a garden center chain in the UK, so don’t sell DIY stuff like a bb store. I’ve had that brown splash on a Birkin leaf. Came out half brown and half green!
I'm onlu 4 minutes into the video and I'm drooling over the cactus!!!
Fantastic aren’t they
Good video.... been to a few decent dobbies in West Yorkshire and they’re not as good as this one. You should try Gordon Riggs they’ve got a great selection... even a verigated section (expensive tho).
Thanks Deego top tip!
Beautiful 🤩
Love the philodendron dragon tail ❤️
Thanks for sharing ❤️
Thanks for watching!
It's actually the rhaphidophora decursiva (dragon tail).
Can’t get over foliage for £50. 😂 Shd I laugh or cry? Definitely an Aglaonema. Not sure which type.
That klalanchoe was super neat never seen that one! Highly recommend any rhripsalis plants.....that was a nice price for that hanging basket!
Oh Yeah the rhipsalis looked really cool. I could have bought a hundred plants 😂
I bought a kalancho, bloomed for months then died. It was very pretty but I think it’s finicky. One day I may try again but for now I just enjoy them in the stores
Liked the rocket snake plant. Nice
I bought this pickle plant here from Islamabad for less than a pound. Isn't it great.
Subscribed to your channel.
I love it!
awesome variety
You are so lucky they tell you what the plant is. Here in the states all they say is tropical foliage !
They do that often here too. Very annoying
@@SheffieldMadePlants it is!
The one you said looks like Satin Pothos at around nine minutes is Chinese Evergreen Aglaonema.
👍👍👍
OMG! I wish we had a store like this in America! I'm in Connecticut and we only have Home Depot + Lowes. (they suck) there are a few small garden nurseries but they don't have much either. Hard to find any great pots either. I've always wanted to open a houseplant store!
Sounds like there’s a gap in the market!
Wisconsin don’t have a good plant stores . Home Depot and they don’t take care of them .if it’s to much then don’t sell them no water and very dark space
We have an Agway in Willimantic. I'm going to check them out next week.
I haven't been in a long time, but they always used to sell plants at Wal-Mart, I think it's North Windom, CT.
@@grandmajane2593 I'm near the Manchester store. They have plants but they don't water them so you have to get there within a couple days of the delivery truck.
Love that big begonia jungle with the lily pad leaves and the new red philodendren....
The begonia was crazy!
Try not to touch the succulents, they get dark marks where fingerprints are and sometimes it's forever. Thanks for the tour though.
Really ?
I have also heard you can spread bacteria touching leaves Not sure if this is true
Nice selection of plants and mostly very healthy but the prices are crazy. I thought plants in Slovenia were expensive. I still have no comprehension on how spider plants can be more than a few pounds?
Yep plants don't come that cheap in the UK
Looking at those cactus and succulents, I wish I could send you cuttings. Those prices... OW! I live in Texas.
Big succulents tend to be expensive here. How much are you paying in the lone star state?
@@SheffieldMadePlants How large are you talking?
@@SheffieldMadePlants I still haven't made it to the garden store. I was at Lowe's (big box. home improvement store), and their garden section is all torn up setting up for Christmas. I'll get to the garden store in a few days.
Beautiful sharing 🌱
Thank you 😊
I’m so tempted to visit here. But those prices!
😬
Enjoyed shopping w you. It was fun! When you pulled out that cast iron plant I thought “buy it”! I’ve been looking for one. Too $$ online and can’t find any. I’m hoping my trip to Florida I can find one or maybe someone will let me dig up a rhizome or 2.
I would like one to be honest. Still not got one
Cheeky: Have you tried California Tropicals on Amazon or Etsy? You can get a two-inch pot, even the variegated types, for little money and free shipping. They are hardy outdoors, even in cold areas (mine is outside in Seattle year-round).
@@lindaschad9734 I finally came across at my local grocer. They even had dwarf ones. I bought both.
@@scwheeler24 Yay! I've found great buys at Safeway, my local grocer, and also a hardware store.
If you ever find an Alocasia Sarian, BUY IT!!!! Those suckers can get very pricey to the right people 🥰👍
Nice tip thanks
It’s philodendron Ring of fire/ Jungle buggie or Some people call it Dragons tooth. Pick your name 😆😆
Ah right cool.
Dobies is dangerous
Love those long long mossy white air plants hanging by the terrariums, I am searching for one local.....loved that huge chinese evergreen, never seen that variety, it was so beautiful...what kind of hanging basket did you get? Not sure what that was? Ok great shopping video....
That Chinese evergreen was a beauty. Was the last one standing so was popular. I got the peperomia peppershot.
That is Tillansia usneiodes, commonly known as Spanish moss. You can get it through Air Plant Supply Company and with every order they include three free air plants. The sales benefit schools in Guatemala. I have had very good luck with my purchases from them.
Richard, are you Dobby the house elf? 😂
🤣
You need to come and visit our Houseplants dept at Hayes Garden World 🌿🌿🌿👏🏼 We give any Dobies a run for its money. 🤓
I'd love to but it'd take me about 3 hours to get there 😂
(Future teen): MOOOOOM!!!!! DAD'S GONE PLANT SHOPPING AGAIN!!!!!
(Mom): Does he have the credit card?
(Future teen): I think so
(Mom): Well there goes the house payment
🤣🥰👍
Haha that’s funny
Man,you don't really know the proper names for some plants but I like how you are trying..never heard of Syngonium, I guess
I try my best 😅
Great video
Thanks!
Have to say I find it so annoying when shop,s just put foliage plants on tags etc! 😡.
I know right!
Sooooo expensive!!
I am looking for the Maranta leuconeura silver band prayer plant
Very nice. Don't think I've seen that before.
I dont like how greenhouse or big box stores label there plants, like when it says just foliage or like just philodendron, its like put a little more detail on it, try a lil harder
I know right so annoying
Awsome 👍🏼
Thanks!
💚
Do have a tulsi plant please
Never had a holy basil before. Looks good though
Horrendous prices!
Some were!
@@SheffieldMadePlants I live in France.. Plants are much cheaper here most coming from the Netherlands.... I recently crossed the border to Belgium, famiflora and floralux... Are very, very cheap!
@@jacqui7140 I wish I was there!
