Significantly overweight children - I'm not talking about just chubby children, but obese children, and this little girl is obese - unfortunately are more likely to be teased or bullied at school, or just to generally feel left out and excluded in school because they can't participate in sports and outdoor games and activities due to their weight. This naturally causes them emotional distress which affects their behaviour, which makes school even harder for them; it's a vicious cycle. It's the fault of the parents for not taking charge of their child's eating in order to prevent the child from becoming obese in the first place. We're not helping any children by ignoring or normalizing this; obesity in childhood is devastating for a child and sets a child up for lifelong health problems.@@ljmcdonald2703

    • @gardenjoy5223
      @gardenjoy5223 Před 10 měsíci

@@ljmcdonald2703 What a dumb comment. Up to almost 50% of obese children get bullied, just because of that. Girls more than boys. This girl as well. So to address her obesity would help her very much! It's the main problem here!
The mother is a weak person, who's given in to her own and her daughters ill food choices! She is literally setting her daughter up for being bullied! That girl comes last in active games, is among the last to be chosen for team sports. She can't keep up with others. In a world so focused on thin being beautiful, her obesity destroys that chance for her.
When mother acknowledges that she has to give her child healthy food and snacks and take care rewards are quality time with mommy at the park, instead of an extra bowl of crisps for the television, then this can be changed in as little as a year. Since this girl can stand up for herself, she only needs to regain her self-confidence in being able to do normal things for kids her age. The extreme food intake makes that impossible right now. Change that and she'll get better at almost all things.
And she won't have to go through the many health problems, that come with obesity. It can take up to 20 years of her life span! Horrid mother!

Giving children the green light to defend themselves from bullying is really important, especially for their confidence. I remember my dad telling me and my sister, when we were in primary school, to punch a bully in their nose, that they will get scared from a little nose bleed and run away. That alone helped immensely. We learned to show teeth when picked on, and I went even further, defending people from bullying my whole school life. I know people frown at suggestions of violence, but it made my tiny butt so secure and unafraid, nobody even tried to mess with me, and I never really had to apply dad's advice. Dads can have such an effect on children and form the braveness in their personality. It's really important to have such a figure in one's life. Dads reading this, make your kids brave and tough, give them that green light.

You have to wait many months through the universal health care system. Perhaps professionals have been unsupportive and haven't offered anything. That does happen in the UK. They would often rather blame the parents than diagnose a child with a disability. The kid seems autistic.

@@NoNameArtist89 Bullying is awful indeed. And it's not always avoidable either, because children and adults tend to be mean. Yet, in many instances, it is!
Number 1 chance of getting your child bullied, is by overfeeding your child. Obese children can't keep up with their peers. Are always last at games, among the last to be picked for teams for sport. That's devastating for their self-esteem and an invitation to either become aggressive themselves (as reaction to being hurt) or become vulnerable and depressed. So feed your child with healthy meals and snacks of whole grains, vegetables and fruits.
Another thing is, that you want your child to be balanced emotionally. Don't neglect it, but don't helicopter it either. There's loads of books and info on the internet on how to set your child up well for life in almost every circumstance. Take advantage of this vast knowledge. Feed your brains instead of racking them :)
The CZcams channel of Emma Hubbard is a GREAT resource for learning how to get started. With a wise start and a good foundation, your child has many advantages in life! Love your child enough to go through this, and if you have a stable partnership, go through it together. Discuss it. Discuss how it went in your homes. Come up with a solid plan for raising your children best.
You might like Jordan Peterson as well, as he's very versed and knowledgeable about what generally helps people succeed. One of his rules for succeeding in life, is that you must not allow your child to be dislikeable. If you can't stand it's behaviour, why would anyone else? Peterson gives good advice to (young) people in general to get their lives together. When you as a parent have your life together, that will most certainly have a positive effect on your children.
      Enjoy!

Oh wow, thanks for taking so much time / effort to answer. Appreciate it :) I was wondering specifically about the concrete situation "child directly tells me he/she's bullied and what best to do then", roughly. I guess I was imagining a child with normal weight and mainly emotional trouble. In my opinion, there could be a conflict inside of the child like wanting the bullying to stop on the one hand / asking for help, and managing it by themselves, alone, on the other hand. Maybe I'd say something like "that sounds awful, noone wants to be bullied. How about we think together about how to solve the problem, what do you think?" A big, big problem is shame, from my point of view. I think being bullied is associated with so much shame/embarassment, that victims rather not open up about it. @@gardenjoy5223

It’s a common thing to develop an aversion for a food you consumed when you were sick as a child, esp one you were forced to eat, which should never be done to a child or to anyone. My mother made me drink a small glass of frozen concentrated orange juice every morning when I was a child, as she worried about me getting enough vitamin c because I was a picky eater and wouldn’t eat most fruits and vegetables. I hated the smell and taste of the stuff and would beg her not to make me drink it, but she wouldn’t let me leave the table until it was gone. Then one morning I actually threw up after drinking it. She started giving me chewable vitamin c tablets after that and never made me drink that stuff again. I still find the smell of it nauseating. In comparison, pure orange juice smells and tastes fine to me.

Some parents enter these disfunctional dynamics out of fear. Guys, that boy is capable of eating and is not going to starve in a house full of food! Mom being so afraid of him dying, shows you how the boy has unconsciously used that to get his own way. Negative attention also is attention. Now the boy is malnourished and not really well developed, so mom worries even more but just gives him the same food choice. Fact is, he does not know what he likes, but that has been his learned habit and mom even feels bad for giving him something different. This mom needs help and a reality check. So often, the parents enable disfunctional behavior.

I've been binge watching SuperNanny and have the utmost admiration for Jo Frost and her team. What job satisfaction she must have, being a saviour for hundreds of desperate parents, when doctors so often have no answers. We are just about all sugar addicts, and we are all suffering for it. Food Inc knows we are addicted. Think about how we evolved, we grew giagantic brains because we ate nothing much but fatty meat, bone marrow and brains for thousands of years, precious little plant foods were available to us during the long ice ages we survived. 90,000 years ago our species had 11% bigger brains than at present. Vegans suffer 1% brain shrinkage per year. Jo Frost, with her fantastic observation skills and arsenal of behaviour modification techniques, would be UNSTOPPABLE, INdefeatable, if she looked into GAPS , Gut and Psychology Syndrome. It is a Nutritional Protocol developed by Dr Natasha Campbell McBride. Bipolar, Schizophrenia, depression, eating disorders, ODD, OCD, ADHD, ADD, alopcia ( hair pulling) all originate in the gut. The GAPS diet seeks to heal and seal the gut lining, rebalance the microbial community and de tox the body with super nutrition and fermented foods. Reducing the plethora of chemicals we are all exposed to in the modern world, such as EMR, anti biotics, Round Up residues , pharmacueticals, heavy metals, cleaning chemicals ( shampoo, detergents etx) , food additives and flame retardents would go along way towards helping families ALONGSIDE behaviour management which Jo excells in. Just as an example, that bright boy who limited his diet to bread....his gut microbes are demanding their favorite food and making other food taste bad. Microbes are clever! They can be starved into a dormant state where their toxins ( ( often neuro toxins putting holes in the gut lining ) are not being produced. My heart goes out to all parents dealing with this stuff, and to all GAPS kids who have grown up and are suffering GAPS conditions such as addiction, excema, obesity and annorexia. Max is on th spectrum and if he chooses to fast for 2 weeks, or 3, or 4 weeks before eating a mouthful of meat stock, he will recover if only meat stock is offered, soon adding raw egg yolks to the meat soup , and tiny amounts of yogurt .

With somethings you are correct but ADHD doesn't come from The gut. It is in the Header with a chemical inbalamce of dopamine that is retracted to soon. You also can see it in the brain that the frontallope is a bit underdeveloped in people with ADHD (not every person). Diet can help but it is not the only couse.

@@Itachilover1210000 It is of course a problem in the brain but did you know gut microbes produce seratonin Dopamine and GABA, neurotransmitters that make us feel good ? Hippocrates famously said " All disease begins in the gut " The gut and brain are connected via the vagus nerve, and our gut microbiome plays a significant role in mental health as far as we know.
