Im a 77 year old white guy. A few years ago i was grocery shopping one weekday afternoon. I was pushing my grocery cart down an aisle when the store "muzak" started an instrumental version of Papa Was a Rolling Stone. There was a black guy about my age pushing his cart toward me up the aisle. Just as we were passing, on cue with the song playing i looked at him and said "it was the third of September." Without missing a beat, he said, " a day I'll always remember." Together, the two of us stood there in the grocery aisle and sang the whole song. When it ended, we both laughed, high fived, and went on our way. I'd never seen the man before. .or since. Damn, that was fun. 🎶
