      @@AmericanCaneSelfDefense Thanks man, I would love to hear real stories of people using their cane defend themselves even if no blows were exchanged. With commentary on other options as the story goes. There often isn't a "better" option. Just a choice made and make it work. It is interesting to explore some of these choices. And time people have had trouble carrying their cane and how to work through it. Like how long do you argue with a security guard, who can make the decision to let you carry, what happens if you use your cane as a weapon when its posted "no weapons allowed". (not that that matters much). Is there a hotline or statue to use? Thanks again!

    Thank you, Joe, for keeping it real. I’ve seen a lot of videos that show all kinds of locks and manipulations with the cane, and they all work well with a cooperative partner but I’ve noticed they never do pressure test scenarios at full speed. Red flag 🚩. What you just taught can save someone’s life and I thank you. Also, I’ve bought canes from you and they are top notch defensive canes and I use them regularly. Thanks again for telling it like it is.

    Joe preaches truth. Yes, I love all the fancy locks, chokes, and takedowns with the cane, but they require too much finesse and precision. Those of us who have been in real life altercations know there is no fancy moves in real fighting. It’s fast and messy and whoever gets knocked out or incapacitated loses. If attacked, STRIKE! If you go for some fancy placing the cane behind the attackers striking arm and reaching in and grabbing cane here for an arm lock throw.... you are gonna be the one unconscious on the ground without a watch and a wallet. Learn to strike and develop enough cardio to perform multiple strikes and combinations in case you encounter someone more difficult or multiple attackers.

    Best I've seen on the subject. I am afraid most people that need a cane wouldn't be able to execute a lot of the movements I see taught today. The two-handed push strike is one of them. I believe it would work if you were able to achieve surprise but honestly, seniors or those with some sort of debilitating condition aren't going to initiate anything of the sort. Of course, it all stems from the time when a cane was a gentleman's accessory and the sword cane was no longer allowed. Those moves were done by fairly healthy men in response to the average ruffian and not today's thug that is well versed in MMA and other brutal forms of assault- at least he thinks he is!

    Great video ! Earned my Black Belt in 2001 after 8 years of training, did seminairs and weapons training as well as other extra things, such as many violent street fights (before beginning martial arts) An experienced offender is ready for all the BS self defense moves. Fighting is not finesse and quite unorthodox and brutal. I love how you stress using the cane for what it is. An impact weapon. I happen to carry one and have a small collection. My favorite is a basic rattan crook top from Cold Steel back in the 90's. I just subscribed to your channel because I found your information useful and exactly in line with my thoughts.

    Could you provide those of us who are disabled and use a cane for it's intended use, a demonstration using a person who actually has limited mobility and balance to see if he or she can use these techniques effectively?
    I'm sure you believe you're doing us a great service by offering this free instruction to defending ourselves with our canes, but I'm no longer as healthy and mobile as you are sir!
    Watching you do these moves makes me wince!
    Its not realistic for a cripple like me, to take instruction from a healthy guy with exceptional range of motion and sound of body!

    • @AmericanCaneSelfDefense
      @AmericanCaneSelfDefense  Před rokem

      Thank you for commenintg Patrick! If you do your research, you'll find ACSD has Cane trained more people with strokes, prosthetics, cancer, arthritis, confined to a chair, traumatic brain injuries, those who need two canes to ambulate, legally blind, cardiovascular insuffiency, on oxygen tanks, just to name a few....than anyone else on the planet. As oppossed to the majority offering Cane instruction these days, ACSD does not attempt to invent easy to do "senior" or "crippled" cane techniques that violate tactical principles because...CRIMINALS DON'T CARE and you will get seriously hurt or worse.. Rather, ACSD is a tactical, movement based system where its' principals can be customized to fit your starting point. But...YOU NEED TO START- It's not going to happen watching CZcams vids- What you see here is a catalog of possibility and potential that comes from professional, supervised TRAINING. Where you are today (limited) is NOT where you will be with proper training and professional guidance 6 weeks later. It's also not free. That's why you're invited to learn how you and everyone else with a legitimate desire to get Cane trained can do so, anywhere in the world with our method by texting CCC to 305-745-7839 or calling 800-289-8188 - While unfortunately many still look and think "I can't", others are following directions, making the call, and discovering there's a method and struture that will meet you where you're at and are transfroming their lives via training and are now walking empowered for all their days. May you choose wisely- In the meantime, thank you for watching and Stay Safe!

    Definitely some valid points. Keep it simple.
    I haven't seen too many cane self defense videos, but all of them, besides this one, push this misnomer that a cane can't be a weapon because of ADA etc.. Well, states are different, but often, especially in New York, anything you intend to use as a weapon, is a weapon. So if you take cane self defense and carry a cane, it could be considered a weapon. You're not free and clear because people can't ask you why you have it, and can't prevent you from going places with it (which doesn't mean the courts can't determine if you have a valid reason). If you have no reason to carry it medically, and you hurt someone with it in the street, even for self defense, you can catch a weapons charge, and like you said, you can kill someone if you hit them in the head, and that's a murder charge in most states. This shit would be cool af if it were the 17th century though.

    You are presenting very good information, I did noticed that you don't cover strikes to the inside legs groin area, or use the cane to jab, but perhaps this video is just your hook for more videos.

    • @AmericanCaneSelfDefense
      @AmericanCaneSelfDefense  Před 4 lety +1

      Thanks for commenting Pedro and your kind feedback! Here's a link where Doc covers ACSD groin striking strategy. You won't find elaborate jabbing or poking and he is often quoted as saying "ACSD is NOT a hokey pokey system" meaning the emphasis is on use of the Cane as an impact tool, primarily on bone to incapcitate. If you follow ACSD content you'll inevitably run into his emphasis that criminals are often younger, bigger, faster with reflexes to evade and counter midline strikes they see coming (i.e. jabs and pokes). He tends to emphasize more shin strikes and follow ups in Powershot mode. Thanks agin and if new to the ACSD Caner Universe, WELCOME!

  • @kalleklp7291
    @kalleklp7291 Před 4 lety +2

    Wise words right there! It can be a simple walking cane BUT the second you start swinging with it it becomes a weapon.
    The law sees it this way too (in most civilized countries). Some drunk idiot coming towards you and you hit him in the head with that thing you'll probably end his life or cripple him for the remaining rest of his miserable life.
    If the opponent has no weapon you just want to temporarily put him out of the game. One or two blows to the leg or the arm are enough for 99% of the attackers to run away...no need for excessive force or to hit him on very dangerous spots on his body.
    Even a slight poke around the stomach region will put an end to most attacks before they even start to get nasty.

    I have a dropped foot thanks to an incompetent Dr who severe my nerves in my lower back.. I have been attacked at a party at night. I was punched in the face for some unknown reason.. I hit back he attacked again I strike again he came back so I lined up on his head split his head and he got 10 stitches in his head . That still did not stop him . I was pulled to the ground by another 2 attackers from behind . I went to ground and got the crap kicked out me. They Broke both my wrists.. I am so making another cane with 300mm x 10mm threaded rod inserted into the striking end of the cane . I want stoping power I don't want to slap someone . I Learned the hard way. I don't care if I end someone life . They attack me I will kill from now on . 6 months later I am still struggling with my wrists. Making another cane is helping them to heal.. not always easy to strike for legs in a crowded area , the only strike I could do was vertical as there were people around me . Contact was over in less than a minute . So yes fancy holds bla bla not today.. today I beat some one anyway I can my only goal is to win and walk away
