    Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU for NOT lighting up the warp nacelles like I see so many model builders doing these days. Why they do it is beyond me. It’s not canon to the TOS Enterprise and it drives me nuts! The lighted nacelles didn’t appear until the motion picture Enterprise re-fit in 1979. I even hated it when they did it to the NX-01 on the Enterprise TV series. I wanted to scream. WHY would they do that??? Urrrgh. Sorry. Just a pet peeve of mine. Thanks for this. Is a beautiful build. Nothing like the original lady.

    I've built many TOS enterprises as it is my all time favorite Starship. I see you've painted the bridge dome and underdome white. I left mine clear and installed the bridge...what a pain in the....butt that was! The instructions were not very clear on the installation of it. I've left portions un glued for access to install a lighting kit. I'd like to buy another 1/350 and start from scratch utilizing some of the steps you have taken on yours. Thanks for the video! Nice job!!!

    This looks great, and is very close to how I am planning mine. I also am using Tenacontrol's LED board with some 0805 strips. Do you wire the additional lighting into the Tenacontrol board (or up to one of the 'always on' lines of that kit? Or is it separately connected to the power/switch?

    I need a huge favor. I really screwed up last night. After working on the model for the last 3 months, I was attempting to attach the port side nacell. while I was trying to push the nacell in the main hull, I broke the support on the end. It cracked off the support. I had glued the support into the nacell, and its almost impossible to get it out. I have re-wired the bussard as that wire snapped, and its working. Do you have any advice for what I can do to re-connect the support to the hull? Anything you can suggest would be so very appreciated. Thanks!

    • @Murphy_Peoples
      @Murphy_Peoples  Před 7 lety

      Hey Diggy. Sorry to hear about the break. I'm not sure I'll be any help. But here's what I'd do: Call or e-mail the model manufacturer. I had problems with Warped Nacelles and they resent new ones to me at no charge. Explain your situation,and have the part number ready. I'm sure they'll help you out with a new piece. You might have to drill out the area where the original one snapped off. Be careful not to exceed the size of the original opening. Shape it back to normal with a small file. Good Luck!

  • @bioshock6935
    @bioshock6935 Před 4 lety

    the original model for me always looked the most stunning the colors and lights blends so well when lighted its a shame we cant see a lot of the underneath of the dish a lot of detail that wont be seen unless you put it at an angle from above to show it of it so retro don't get me wrong i like all the new enterprise look each has there own unique look it there ways

  • @AvengerII
    @AvengerII Před 7 lety +1

    Nice base!
    Well built model but the first thing I comment on is the base! LOL
    Seriously, though... Red bussards? Hmm... I never did like the fact that the Enterprise changed from the pilot appearance with the red caps to that orangey-white/twinkly appearance. I guess this bridges the gap between the two visuals.
    I always kind of imagined the Enterprise's nacelle caps/bussards would be red when it wasn't powered. As the Ship powered up and warped, the bussards would glow progressively hotter (more white) and the "blades" would eventually disappear.
    Yeah, I don't know about those blades to be honest. It's kind of a hokey effect... I know why they did it (in the 1960s) -- to make the Ship look more energetic -- but do people HONESTLY think there are fanblades/turbines in a MODERN space vehicle?
    (Apparently, JJ Abrams does, but I believe this guy flunked science and I doubt he did that well in literature...)
    I always imagined an atomic/particle effect within the bussards -- IF visible -- would be more random and NOT in a mechanical spinning pattern. I think they used to animate or do some lighting to that effect with the bussards of the Enterprise-D. I never really noticed it in any TNG episode but I did read something to that effect somewhere.

    ALSO WHAT COLOR AND TYPE OF LIGHT BLOCKING PAINT DID YOU USE?

    • @Murphy_Peoples
      @Murphy_Peoples  Před 7 lety +1

      Sure thing Diggy. For internal light blocking I use a Dupli-Color Semi Gloss black. Then I go over that with Dupli-Color Gloss White, which I think the gloss lends itself to helping the light reflect and bounce around more internally giving a better glow. For color on the main Hull, I personally blended that from the Spies Hecker Paint you see in the video. Its an automotive Urethane paint for plastics. I simply blended it by eye to match what I remember fondly as a kid. It was made from a White, Black, and tiny amount of Blue too. Thank you for the kind words on my color matching. I felt like I nailed it.

      I'm very sorry for taking so long to get back to you! I travel a lot for my job, and only check my CZcams feed when I'm home. You want to get Permacron 552 Blue. But here's the thing... a little goes a LONG WAY. You might should ask your paint supplier if they would give you a teaspoon full. Seriously. Take the smallest container you can find and see if they'll just give you a little. I mixed it in drop by drop, for I think less than 10 drops to get the color right. I would recommend mixing at least 6 ounces of final color (including reducer). I know I went through about 5 ounces, and like to keep the extra for any touch ups down the road if need be. Hope this helps!
