  • In this video I show you how I made the balloons for this cake and applied them to my cake.
    I used one pack Nestle white chocolate melts which I melted according to packet directions and I used color mill baby blue to color the chocolate adding more color form the same shade to darken along the way to make the varying shades seen.

    Wow. I can’t believe this! It seems too good to be true. I need to make balloons, but I HATE wrapping balls in fondant… it’s so hard and annoying. I also dont want to use sphere molds. Is it really this easy? And I see you said you use nestle melts. Is that just like the white chocolate chips in the baking aisle, Or does Nestlé actually make candy melts? Thank you so much for the tutorial!!

      It really is that easy, and yes the nestle melts that are chocolate in the baking aisle of the supermarket, just be sure to use an oil based colour for the Chocolate like colour mill

      @@oli45c did you use coloring that was specifically for chocolate or just any gel coloring? Also..is the cake covered in fondant or buttercream? Can you tell how you colored it for the grass and sky?

    • @oli45c
      @oli45c  Před 2 lety +1

      Hi Joann, yes I used oil based color for chocolate specifically the brand color mill and the color was baby blue. I used the same color in my buttercream for the sky.
      The cake is buttercream not fondant. I applied the buttercream in the usual way to cover the cake just with in bands of color so green then white then blue then scraped around the cake as usual. I do have footage somewhere I’ll see if still have it.

    How do you get your chocolate to melt so well? Mine always starts to harden super fast and it’s never this runny!

      Btw I’m planning to make a similar cake I already purchased the styrofoam balls I’m just trying to decide whether I want to cover the balls in fondant or try your method which looks much easier!

    • @oli45c
      @oli45c  Před 2 lety

      I use nestle melts the chocolate is already tempered and it just melts really lovely and liquid

      Covering balls in fondant is very fiddly and time consuming this way is so much faster and cost effective too.

    • @oli45c

      I made them on the day off but you could make in advance but you might have a little condensation from the fridge which is bound to happen anyway once you refrigerate cake when finished
