I was gonna say hopefully Derek and Odette will actually take a little break from do-gooding to try to conceive a child naturally away from the cares of their safe kingdom(s)...but no, they're going to spend the whole summer "helping people" instead. That's not a summer vacation, that's not a summer vacation at all!

Is it bad that i want frilly princesses back? They're practicly extinct as far as i am aware.

Rogers said "the love of your dear parents", referring to Derek and Odette. But then he said "don't mess it up", which is equally terrible.

It's kinda sad that this pirate movie has practically no pirate action in it. I mean come on, why make it a pirate movie without any actual pirates!
I used to think a TV series based on the Swan Princess was a good idea. And in theory it still is. Think about it. The majority of the characters are (or were) decent, it has a nice medieval fantasy setting, talking animals and a shape shifting princess! Unfortunately, its been ruined by lazy assholes. I love animation, I hate animation studios
Yeah! I need a REBOOT OF the movie, and also to remake it!
So much for a medieval fantasy setting with hoverboard leaves and spy gear in the next one.
Such a great review (as always!) I agree with what you both said about the name of the franchise, Odette hasn't been turned into a swan since the Christmas movie, (and even then it wasn't really necessary), honestly what they probably should have done is make these movies a spin off of the Swan Princess, starring Alise, (but don't call it The Swan Princess,) and then started a new franchise that way, since Odette and Derek don't really do much in these movies anymore anyways. I look forward to your next review :)
Again, they could've went and learned the arts of creation and change. That would open up PLENTY of oppurtunities to keep the title of Swan princess because Odette transforms herself into a swan to search, flee, play and more. Remember the horde carriage in the previous movie? Turn into a swan and fly away. This movie, Odette could turn into a swan to look for Alise.
Why would she transform into a swan after everything? Because thanks to being trapped in that form she's gotten the most experience with it.
Who demanded this? What idiot would ask these people to make these movies? Thank God that Disney finally pulled the plug on the direct to Video sequels.
Now they have "Wreck It Ralph 2", "Frozen 2", and "Zootopia 2", but at lesst those are being done by Disney's core studio.
Fire Dust Those aren't direct-to-video. Last time a Disney movie had a sequel premiering in theatres was the Rescuers Down Under.
the only positive i can get outta this movie: Alise's song is okay. not her singing, but the background music was pretty good.

Admittedly, I think the idea of Rogers being so pompous that he demands to be PROPERLY cooked, even if he’s got to SHOW them how it’s done sounds like it could be a pretty funny gag if they hadn’t gone the “Dollar Store Gordon Ramsey Knockoff” route with it…
As the old Rogers would say, You should write a book "How to offend a little orphan girl in 3 syllables or less."
I've said this before and I'll say it again: What happened to Odette's father's kingdom? Because they are apparently loving in Rothbart's castle, which makes no sense, and his kingdom has apparently been left to crumble.
"I don't want to be a classic princess, I want to be a _modern_ princess".
Writers: What's a modern princess? A Jasmine? A Merida? ATiana? Clarification, Soccer Moms- We need it!
This franchise is like the Hydra. If you chop off one of it's heads, they keep growing back!

These movie just retroactively make the first movie worse and worse. And the first movie didn't even reach its full potential! Ugh
These movies were created by Crest Animation Studios and Sony Pictures. The same people who made the Alpha and Omega octoligy and Hotel Transylvania trilogy.
I think it's a little harsh to lump in Hotel Transylvania with the rest.
Further, Sony Pictures (their animation division) only works as a distributor in the case of Swan Princess.

... It hurts how this movie franchise just slammed down into rock bottom so many times. I did not like movie 3 and here... Oh god, hoverboard leaves. I'm feeling my braincells leaving for the astral plane and me remaining in the mortal realm just thinking about it. Also it doesnt matter if she's being taught how to be a princess, she's adopted. Isnt it required to have a biological heir to succeed the throne?

Alexis Sherrill So basically like the Transformers movies only a lot less effort.
Pumped out cheap with as little effort as possible. It's a shame really.
Alexis Sherrill Ice Age is a good example of it. (Worse of all, I like it when I was young)
Is Richard Rich still a head/a part of this series? I really can't understand how someone can go through the bastardization of their own series. At least the first movie, though it was trying to copy Disney, had a decent budget, some creativity, and was (relatively) grounded in its own medieval reality. At this point it seems that any sense of internal logic or continuity has just been tossed out the window in favor of throwing in literally any premise that comes into a "writer's" head. We've gotten lightbulbs, squirrel guardians, 18th century piracy and cannon, pop music, pop culture references, lizard monsters on hover boards! And that's just the tip of the iceberg, that unfortunately hasn't sunk this series yet. It's shameful that all this crap is canon.

I come from the year 2021 and there is a new sequel called the swan princess a royal wedding and wow does it look bad.
Let's all come up with plots for the eighth movie and see when the eighth one comes out if there good ok I'll go: Odette announces that she is pregnant and everyone is excited however Derick's cousin is now upset that he's fourth in line to the thrown rather than second so he invades the kingdom and imprisons Odette's mother ,who is visiting from Odette's kingdom which she's been ruling since William died, and Alece so Derick Odette and the others have to take back the kingdom and rescue them and it ends with Odette gives birth to a baby girl
Derek dies and Odette must teach Elise the ropes of being a capable monarch all the while mourning the loss of Derek and raising her own young Prince William. Elise is pretty clumsy at first but gradually gains the self Confidence to be an exemplary Queen. Elise, however, is at first torn between her duty as the eldest (Adopted) child of King Derek, and her love for the unsuitable Lucas. Think a rated G Game of Thrones!

The reason the scullions are the guards now is because they accidentally killed all the human soldiers when they attacked the castle.
Nah, they didn't kill the human soldiers, they just proved that they were far, FAR more effective than the humans were at the job. This movie just proves that fact.
Oh no, another stupid unnecessary Swan Princess sequel. This is going the direction of Land Before Time and Ice Age sequels combined! Can someone just go up to the studios and say "IT'S TIME TO STOP! IT'S TIME TO STOP OKAY? NO MORE!"

I love these movies. And When I watched The swan princess 6 I was a little surprised That's the queen Did Did not try to get princess odette About her daughter. And then have her go save her daughter

Not really. The last one will be the 8th thankfully. Plus Land Before Time seems like the best franchise compared to this.

The general public, apparently. According to an interview with director Richard Rich, DVD sales for the franchise remained pretty steady over the years to the point that Nest's parent company asked if they wanted to do more.
TheDetectiveSteve I do remember occasionally seeing the DVDs on the shelfs in some of the stores as a kid. But none of my friends ever talked about the movies and I honestly forgot they existed til a few years ago. Also marketing wise this felt like a bad idea to bring it back as the fan base that watched the films as kids(most of them anyway)were too old for them when the Christmas one came out. Plus I don’t remember direct to video being a great market in 2012.
Not Gonna Lie But The Animation Of The Current Movies Are Like 5/10 But I Know It's Their First Time Doing More Cgi Movies But Richard Rich's movies Must improve the animation and the actors (sorry but they are ok)
You trash these movies but you’ve bought all of them on dvd and then the filmmakers get the last laugh. I don’t understand.
I bought them on DVD for the same reason most online reviewers do: they need the footage to illustrate their points.
As for your second point, does that really matter? The purpose of my videos is critique and entertainment, not a crusade against the filmmakers.
