I used them for day hikes and long weekend backpacking hikes. Totally love them. I like the grip this model have on rocks that a slippery. The old ones were not as good. I am extremely happy with them
I still love them. They seem to repel muck a bit. I can’t say I bother to much about cleaning them. They seem to stay pretty good. I still use them all the time. I will try to make a video on review after using them and how easy they are to clean in the next 3 weeks or so
I actually like these boots better than my previous ones. My older ones had the outer all go funny and start peaking off. This has not happened with these ones yet I also find that these ones have better grip
Um that’s a berry Interesting question. I have never tried concrete or hard flat surface. I’ll give it a go and post a video. I usually walk in the bush. 😂 As for running. I would say that they are NOT a good running shoe. Short distance would be ok but to much ankle support. I’m not a fan of running in boots either. Salamon do make a low cut shoe that might be ok but they are not designed as a running shoe.
These are the higher boots. They give better ankle support. The other ones made by salomon have the low ankles. And the gators are for 2 reasons. I have the snake proof sea to summit ones. I am usually hiking with kids as an instructor and if we come across a snake it’s me dealing with it and keeping kids away. It has happened with a red bellied black in camp and one near a marker. I am also usually doing off track walking. And they protect my legs.
@@blackllama1 I was referring to something like a full leather hunting boot that's 10+ inches high. But that's a good point re. snakes. Thanks for the info
@@combatboots101 in regards to full leather hunting boot. I find things like that rather heave for distance walking. My feet sweat a lot and having the goretex helps keep my feet fresh. I used to hike in leather but find I like these more. They still have enough ankle support to help prevent ankle roll over ect
@@blackllama1 plus I imagine that the ability to separate the boot and gaiter makes for faster drying compared to a high full leather boot that can take a whole day when soaked. I'll have to try your method
Are they good for hot weather and long hikes? Also whats the difference between this one and the lower one? Which is recommended for such warm and long hikes? Thank you
I use them in hot weather and find them fine. I have not tested the lower version sorry. I have found these ones to be awesome and when I ware them out will be looking at the newer model.
I have not noticed much change with the use I have given them. They are my hiking shoe so not every day use. Not much wear or change in the sole apart from where I stepped on a hit coal from the fire and melted a section.
So far I have had no issue with grip. I find them much better than the previous model I was always cautious walking on wet rocks with them. These I quite like.
That depend on what the sale is. Sometimes 40% off sometimes they do more. I got mine on a special deal organised through a club discount that I am a member of. from Kathmandu You just have to look at the current deals on offer.
Love it, love it, love it!!! In this year the 100th anniversary of #CCP, thrilled to know Salomon is now owned by Anta of China #MadeInChina2025 #BeltAndRoad #BeijingOlympics2022 #OccupyMars2024
Nice review. I have the previous model in these boots. Excellent boots
Yes I also had the previous model and loved them
Top stuff 👍
Great review friend. It put me over the top to buy them. I'll be trekking through the Canadian Rockies. They look solid.
Thanks for the feedback. I love them as. Boot.
Great review mate - keep up the good work!
Am i only one who use them for daily. I think they are the most badass looking boots
the only downside is the price for how long they will last before the materials start to deteriorate*
Would you say these are good for day hikes only? What about backcountry/backpacking?
I used them for day hikes and long weekend backpacking hikes.
Totally love them.
I like the grip this model have on rocks that a slippery. The old ones were not as good.
I am extremely happy with them
You should make a more detail review after 1 or 2 months using them to see how they are doing. BTW, how easy is to clean black hiking boots?
I will look At doing that.
I haven’t tried to clean them yet. I will do that and let you know

Has the quality deteriorated from earlier versions? Heard severely reviews say how Salomon has cut corners.
I actually like these boots better than my previous ones. My older ones had the outer all go funny and start peaking off. This has not happened with these ones yet I also find that these ones have better grip
How are these on concrete/asphalt/city + suburb walking? How are running in these? Thank you for your video

Hello. Out of curiosity, why do you choose gaiters with low boots instead of a higher boot? Is it mainly for weight and bulk reduction?

@@combatboots101 well I find it works for me.

would you recommend these boots for everyday use in hot climate, 33°c average to 40°c peak in the summer season?
I would used these boots in those conditions.
Should be go for true to size or 1 size bigger? Specially once we come downhill will true size hurt?
I went same sise as I would normally ware. But I did also try them on in store for fit. I would recommend trying a pair on and see what’s best for you
@@blackllama1 sure thanks
How the bottom wear? Are they still thick after more than a year? Or is it very thin?
I have not noticed much change with the use I have given them.

How are they on wetsurfaces? Wet rock, grass and mud?
