Yours, sir, is the best explanation of this unit I have yet encountered. Good job. I have always free-hand filed with only occasional use of Granberg File'n Joint in the event I wandered off spec a bit. On this machine you show and others, I would like to see a dual function on forward/off and on reverse/off type of switch. I suppose the engineers fear the wheel might spin off in reverse??

They used to make them with that reverse switch,I guess because sparks fly towards you in reverse they say it's a safety matter no doubt

I see on the front chain-vise angle adjustment that it actually allows from 0-35 deg on the tooth top plate, I've always used 25 degrees on my cheap grinder as it seems to give better longevity/durability of the cutter sharpness in very hard wood, but maybe 30 deg sacrifices some durability in exchange for cutting speed.
Thinking about that I considered "why not try 32.5 or 35° instead? Or 20-22.5°? Same thing with the back and forth adjustment of the chain-vise, it goes from 0 to 15°, wonder why? Would anyone ever need to use it at 15°? It seems like we're only ever talking about the 10° front/back, why not 12.5-15° see what im saying?
I can see I'm gonna be using all my old chains to test new grinding-angles now..

Ok I see where you are comming from.
10° top plate angle is used for milling chains cutting with the grain making slabs of timber. 35° would only ever be used in the softest wood. Semi chisel 30° and 25° full chisel. That's the normal settings.
