    I had the Krome EX, Kronos 2 61, and now I have the Nautilus 61. I think the Nautilus sounds more accessible and more pleasant to listen to. Playing this instrument is pure satisfaction. Kronos has a more severe character. It looks as if Korg engineers have given the Kronos an easier & nicer version. The keyboard is probably the same, but in Nautilus it feels a bit deeper. Between Kronos and Nautilus I had Krome EX, so maybe that's why I feel in Nautilus. To sum up, Korg Nautilus is the best equipment I've ever dealt with. Affordable price, something beautiful.

      I think you first need to try the Nautilus to have an accurate opinion. Experience actually should tell you that you can’t judge only per music videos. What I know is that I can get the sound of the Kronos with some edition. The Nautilus sound brighter, but with enough processing you can have them sounding similar.

    I have both of these keyboards: the Kronos, yes, does have just a little bit more "oomph" to it's sound, WHEN using the same sounds, however, the Nautilus has a ton of NEW sounds, some of which are simply spectacular! My intention was to replace the Kronos with Nautilus, but now, I am thinking I will just keep both of them.

    "It sounds the same". Yes.
    Is it the same. No. I feel the sub frequencies a lot more on my krk subwoofer for the kronos. And the highs are shelved off a bit. Depending on the sound, the nautilus is "brighter" and more "clear", but the kronos is more "subby" "creamy" and "warmer"... Both are cool but i prefer kronos for studio-grade mixing.

    Pretty darn sure they are the same software synths internally. One uses a slightly faster CPU. Beyond the tunning of presets, it would be an illusion to say one sounds better based on fact of the reality behind the synths. They truly are all software based digital. Only thing I could imagine may have changed would be the audio interface? As a former owner of the Kronos 2 88, I could say that no other keyboard has ever come close to being as much of an inspiration work platform. I really enjoyed all the tactile controls. Prices coming down so low on the original Nautilus, tempting to grab at least a 61 version. IT is software in a box, but it was so well thought out and executed, there is value there for sure in ease of use and a ready to go solution.

  • @michaelkeschinger4789

    The sound difference in volume could also be attributed to the keybed. The synth action requires a different touch. Maybe compare the 61key versions of both? Either way, I won't like. I like watching these videos for motivation to play my kronos 2-88. ;) I 'm a yamaha guy- have the modx8 too, but came across a SCREAMING deal on a kronos. Love playing both, but the kronos is SOO deep that it's almost not as much fun to just play.

They both sound amazing in a band environment....The both are beasts and the nautilus has newer circuits, battery and less wear, so I would advise anyone to get the nautilus, even to replace the kronos. Different sound, even on distorting small phone speakers ). As many said, Nau is thinner.
    Maybe its different key velocity responce (that may affect not only volume but also a filter cutoff. ) Wonder if they would sound less different when sequenced from DAW with identical midi signal. (or when midi controlled by each other)

    Does anyone know why Korg stopped making the Kronos? Is there a newer version coming out? I like the KARMA feature the Kronos had. Why didn't Korg include that in the Nautilus? The new Roland Fanotm 0 series looks like something to look into but I like the Korg products, after all, Keith Emerson used them, need I say more.

      I'm not "mad" at them. However, the partnership has ended (actually it ended awhile ago...). New leadership and management at Korg, with the desire to no longer continue previous third-party relationships. I have nothing to say about it; we could continue to work together if they were interested, but they are not. So it was great while it lasted. • @ErraticFaith
      @ErraticFaith Před rokem

      They have a different characteristic sound, so it's a little hard to compare directly. Some prefer Piano on one, some the other. One advantage KORG retains over Roland is allocation of Polyphony. Zencore really strains the hardware and can drop notes very easily. That's not really the case with Korg. You'll want to consider workflow/UI as well. KORG is very deep and somewhat difficult for some. They prefer the less complex Roland structure. But there's no doubt the three main brands are all competitive. So pick your preference.
