  • This Japanese maple forest was one of my first compositions, and holds a special place in my heart. It was put together using 6x £3 saplings from a local garden centre and planted into a £14 plastic 40cm bonsai tray from Amazon.co.uk
The variety is “butterfly” which is a variegated plant with creamy borders to the leaves, and as a single tree can appear a bit insipid and weak. However it seems to work fantastically Kim a group planting.
This video shows the bonsai progression through several seasons, including a snowy winter, and the change in leaf colour can clearly be seen.
    Enjoy 🙏

Thank you. It has been a bit slow this growing season.

This is developing very nicely Jason. When the canopy knits together it's going to create a fantastic image! Also, I definitely have to get myself some of those Chinese figures!

Thanks Tony. It is one of my earliest and favourites of my own efforts. It demonstrates that a nice effect can be achieved with inexpensive materials from any garden centre or supermarket. It will only continue to mature into a nice maple grove, as seen on a quiet hilltop.

Very nice progression Jason. Can you advise where you sourced the blue cloth screens with the fish please? Thanks we would be great Nabors!
