    I have to agree with you that cardio systems are a lot better than the summer. I actually had to center systems, and went to a Pac talk slim, and could not believe the difference in quality, and really the biggest thing about the Cardo is more than a 10 second indication that your battery is dead lol, great presentation and thanks for taking the time to make the video

    Have you also noticed that packtalk bold cannot be connected to a headset from another manufacturer via Bluetooth?

    • @4KMotoring
      @4KMotoring  Před 8 měsíci +1

      The Bold does come with the Anycom Bluetooth connection, allowing a Bluetooth connection to other brands. In my experience, it's incredibly complicated and still relies on a good amount of luck to get it to work, and even then it disables your mesh network. The Edge is a significant step forward in this respect

    Is the sound quality significantly better in the edge compared to the bold? I’m thinking of upgrading but unsure if the quality of sound is a big difference

    • @4KMotoring
      @4KMotoring  Před 6 měsíci +1

      The sound has definitely improved, but not in any Earth shattering way. The overall user interface, ease of pairing, and general functionality is significantly better. The actual speakers themselves are the same.

    Hi dear..nice video..needed to know connectivity between edge and bold?
    Is it good or creating issues in between connectivity.?

    • @4KMotoring
      @4KMotoring  Před rokem +1

      The edge enhances the mesh connection that the bold started. Both are fully compatible with each other. The edge just does it better.

    Great review, have the Bold considering and upgrade to the Edge. On a different note, what Oakley frames are you wearing? I really like them!

      After a few months I can say (overall) I'm still very happy with the Cardo Edge upgrade.
      I wear the Oakley Tincup Carbon frames, but they seem to be hard to come by anymore

    how to sound when compared to Packtalk Black and Edge/NEO is it the same?. Because the speaker is Black 45mm while the Edge/Neo is 40mm. I'm confused about choosing Packtalk Black or Edge

    • @4KMotoring
      @4KMotoring  Před rokem +1

      The black had larger drivers that may not fit in all helmets, the edge is using their common 40mm JBL speakers, but has a much more advanced algorithm for better sounding music. If you're in the market for a new communicator, you won't be disappointed with the Edge

  • @ramafan_3903
    @ramafan_3903 Před rokem +1

    I have 1 question, is the sound quality of Edge with bold JBL to listen to music equal or superior to Edge?

    • @4KMotoring
      @4KMotoring  Před rokem +1

      The edge uses the same JBL speakers as the bold so there is no difference of speaker output. Difference is in the audio processing for both units where the edge has a definite improvement. It's not an earth-shattering difference, but the edge is better.

  • @petrospapaioannou2036

    Is there a way to connect the Edge to your passenge by USBC so you don`t have the voice delay?

    • @4KMotoring
      @4KMotoring  Před rokem

      Unfortunately not. My solution was to buy a louder exhaust so I didn't notice the delay 🤣

      If you don't have a comm system yet, the Edge would be my absolute recommendation. I'm a big fan of the cry once over cry twice methodology, can probably find a used bold for a little bit cheaper, but in the end you're getting a more solid, more modern unit with the edge

    So after a month, how’s it working out with the Edge paired to both the phone and your MTS V4? Are you controlling your music and phone calls through the bike? If so, how’s it working in conjunction with the Cardo app?

    • @4KMotoring
      @4KMotoring  Před rokem +3

      In the time I've used it so far, it has been absolutely flawless, connections and pairing have been superbly easy and quick, it pairs between the phone and Multi perfectly and quickly. The only thing that I can say about it is at the voice processing delays speech, if you can hear your passenger talk in person, there is a noticeable delay before their voice comes across the speaker. Otherwise, this system is great. Just remember, it has not increased your range or total battery capacity significantly from the PackTalk Bold, so I still don't think it's worth the upgrade if you've got one of those

  • @perto6747
    @perto6747 Před rokem

    Do you pair the phone only to the Cardo or do you pair it both to the Cardo and bike?

    • @4KMotoring
      @4KMotoring  Před rokem +1

      So the connection confuses me a little bit, cardio says it will connect to both and it has the option to connect to a phone and a second unit, but when I've connected mine to my phone and the bike it seems to only view the bike connection as the active one. It doesn't act like it is paired to my phone as well unless I manually connect the two. Ultimately I just ensured the bike connection is the one I want for my particular motorcycle, once a month or so I will connect to my phone to verify update status

      @@4KMotoring Same experience for me when I connect to my AT. I read in AT forum that someone had overcome the problem by pair phone to Cardo as secondary phone and obviously pair Cardo to bike as bike and not use no.1 phone pairing at all. I’ll will give it a try when the white stuff has cleared the roads.

    Hows the functioning with more units? I had 5 ptBold units, and it is HORRIBLE! Bad sound, losing connection, range maxing 30 feet tops, sound like robot, etcetera. Thing is; when i go with the wife and have a com-to-com, range is half a mile at least. Already swapped all 5 units with the dealer, still the same, so its definately in the Bold. Now, i wonder; as the edge uses DMC2, will this improve? How is the range (important detail for a intercom!)? If i swap them, its 1.K, so its an investment. When the experience is the same, its wasted money. Currently testing the Midland Edge's, and this goed okay-ish. However, no comm with the remaining Bold's.
    So, enlighten me, and convince me to buy these.

    • @4KMotoring
      @4KMotoring  Před rokem

      If you're looking for extended range, the Edge does not make any significant improvements over the Bold. The 2nd gen DMC is an improved algorithm with better (but delayed) sound quality, but still suffers the same short range that Bluetooth communicators are known for. The pairing and connections are easier, more reliable, and faster... But in my opinion it's not enough to justify the cost if you already have the Bold with JBL speakers.

      @@4KMotoring the delay is really killing me! from almost instant with the bold there is now a 300ms-500ms delay in speech! When I reached out to Cardo support they said move along, it's normal. NO, it is NOT normal. this is a downgrade. When I speak with my other intercoms (packtalk bold, Sena30k, sena 20S) there are no noticeable delays. The whole new lineup is messed up. I also have the freecom 2X and it suffers the same crap 3-500 ms delay. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I can't believe it...

  • @toshy
    @toshy Před rokem

    How's the intercom voice quality? I found the the Bold/Black often very noisy, lacking clarity and suffering from poor range. Is the Edge significantly improved?
    Having six helmets between me and my girl, switching to the Edge is about 1.5k with all the extra helmet kits, and if the intercom quality is still the same, it's just not worth it.

    • @4KMotoring
      @4KMotoring  Před rokem +1

      So far in the time I've had it, I can tell you that the clarity is absolutely improved with a noticeable delay in response time. If you're close enough to hear that person's voice, you'll notice that there is a significant delay between the time they talk and the time you actually hear through the speaker what they're saying. It definitely sounds better than the bold did previously. Clearly there's lots of behind the scenes processing happening. The range has not improved at all, it is still the same.

      You can buy an edge mounting kit with mic, speakers, etc. Minus the head-in unit for $125, then just switch the magnetic unit to the helmet you want to use. I went from a Sena SRL2 in my Neo tech II and absolutely love ALL the voice commands.

    Sena is horrible. Only because it doesn't cancel the wind noise.
