I hope we get some storyline where Ysera uses some of her Titan magic to some how restore Ursoc. Yes, I know she "lost her powers" but clearly she didn't if she's still a nature spirit. There's clearly still some Titan power left in the aspects.
It would be cool if her resurrection brought back her full strength and was able to revive Ursoc again. After all, they were very close in life.

Idk what it was about this, but it reminded me a lot of the first Thor movie, when Odin has his voice over monologue at the beginning of the movie and it does a flyover scene introducing Asgard. "And we returned home, to the realm eternal... Asgard."

Yogg-Saron was the one that invaded the Emerald Dream and opened it up so that it could become the Nightmare. Ardenweald is connected to the Dream somehow. Now they sacrificed Ursoc's soul to save others. Remember what Yogg once said?

Isn't it telling that we have the tendecy to ridicule what we feel when watching this, too shy, too awkward to show it bluntly? Not to criticize you in any way, but it is quite the thing that strong emotions so often are ridiculed to not grow too large and heavy in our conversations.
Whoever is directing, producing, writing, etc. these needs to make the next movie.

While I have my own issues with some of Blizzard's choices when it comes to the writing, to dismiss how well these shorts have been made is a fool's errand - and frankly looks more petty than anything. They're doing a great job with these, it's okay to isolate other issues from what they're doing right and give credit where it's due rather than dismissing anything they put out without compartmentalizing it as a standalone work.

Playing druid since I started playing something like 14 years ago- this just kind of hit's home. ugh the ugly crying. It's so stupid when you realize it's a game, but after 14 years you become so invested. Goodbye old friend.
Nah it's not stupid at all... It's a world that does exist. It's just not a physical world, but it occupies space in our minds. For me that's real enough. Feel what you feel, all emotions are equally beautiful! I can promise you that you weren't the first or last person to cry because of this cinematic!

@pyropulse I get where you're coming from with the rest of your comment, and yes it is sad and somber- night elf and druid lore already revolve around cycles of life, that is nothing new, but Ursoc does hold relevance with druids- night elf/druid/the emerald dream/ lore in the game itself. You're kidding yourself if you think it's not relevant. I mean, it's pretty well known that the Druids of the Claw were Adherents of Ursoc and even returned his claws to him- there is even a section of Legion for druids dedicated to that part of the lore.
Yes it is stupid. It is fiction and what you're doing is escapism, the real world is somewhere else. I'm writing this as the original Vanilla player who hit Naxx back then.
@@piotrzmuda1281 congrats on Naxx! I got too late of a start to really make progress on much of anything besides leveling, learning my class, paying attention to story line, etc. I played the original warcraft games as a kid and even then loved the rich story behind it.
Of course it is escapism! It's the same reason I read novels! The imagination is a wonderful place :)
Balancing that and the real world is definitely the important bit though. Could I totally spend all day reading: definitely, but do I actually have things I need to get done around the house and time to spend with family? - definitely. So learning balance is a huge thing between hobbies and life. It doesn't have to just be escapism though, gaming itself is problem solving, logic, calculating, etc. It's a great exercise for the brain as well!
But yes- still stupid, but it's not because it's escapism and I'm ignoring my real world as you suggested (trust me, full time career, family, etc takes up enough time that I definitely don't play as often as I'd like to anymore- because adult life)
But it's more due to being invested in the lore since I was a kid, this has been a story that has spanned almost my entire life. That has an impact. Regardless of fiction or not- I still cry reading a book when sad things happen, where the red fern grows will get me every single time. Feeling emotions isn't wrong, I may personally think it's a bit stupid and silly to be crying because I'm am adult and think it's stupid every time I cry reading a book or watching a movie, but it still happens, because emotions are a thing we have.

I've never played Warcraft but I love cinematics in it. Especially this Faun looking dude who's super sad to drain the energy out of his Shiny egg friend. Even though idk who they are, I felt every bit of their sadness. Also, you know when a gaming company have made great story telling when even non-players understand how they feel at the moment.

These cinematics have amazing detail to eyes. They're really windows into their soul; the artist does them great justice. In Uther's short, you can see his conflict and sadness and this short - in a moment when we think that the Queen is going to be evil or malevolent, we can see her true feelings with nary a word.
Blizzard puts huge detail into eyes. There are a lot of lore hints, based on the entities eye color.

When Ursoc died and talked about the forest beyond, I got some lion king vibes. That was REALLY well done.
Wow...didn't expect that...the feels on this one are real...the score is fantastic and the story so somber but it ends with a glimmer of hope. I can't wait to play through the Ardenwealed zone on my Druid!

Which is why the kaldorei, the night elves are fortunate. Because of Aessina's blessing, their wisp spirits can apparently linger in the physical world indefinitely, while other mortal souls are apparently drawn into the Shadowlands...
And Ysera- I'm not sure if dragons go to the same afterlife, I assume they do. But Elune intervened to save Ysera's spirit and bring it to her at the moon while simultaneously purifying it. I wonder if Elune knew that if Ysera was consigned to the Shadowlands, her soul would go into the maw? Perhaps Elune was unwilling, or unable, to watch such a thing unfold.

as a Blood DK, I was initially sold on Venthyr, cuz well... blood/vampire/damned soul seeking redemption. But as a guild raid lead and main tank, this hits me hard. "Welcome to my grove, friend," and, "Anyone who threatens my grove is the enemy," resonates a lot. Protection and service are such clear themes in this - it's one protector (Ara'lon) trying to guard another (Ursoc) - and then realizing that Ursoc's wishes were always to be of service in order to protect a greater whole, even if it meant self-sacrifice. I gotta wait to see the Venthyr vid to be sure, but for now: sign me up my Queen, I swear it.

I think it works for a DK really. Disease and bloodshed are a part of the natural world. Without death and decay. The cycle of seasons and life falls apart. Looking forward to my night elf Night Fae DK as blood and unholy. :)

This cinematic hits right in the heart. I had to put my dog to sleep 2 weeks ago so he won't suffer anymore cuz of cancer, i've been trying everything to save him but it gave nothing. What happend in this cinematic shows the pain of sacrafice for the greater good.
My sincerest sympathies. Both of my dogs had to be put to sleep late last year. I had them both for 15 years. You’re right about this cinematic and how it relates to that experience. Sometimes doing what’s right hurts so much.
I didn't even think of the video like that and now I'm sad too! I feel your pain. I had to put dog to sleep the day after Memorial Day. He was ~13. Doc was kind and left me alone with him while he was being sedated. I held him in my arms and talked to him eye to eye about what a good boy he was and how much I loved him. He knew it was time, towards the end before he fell asleep, he leaned his head up and put it on my shoulder, like he used to "hug" me when he was healthy. To make matters worse my cat died (16 or 17 years old) like 45 days later. This year... it's been rough, ugh. I buried them next to each other., which I'm sure the cat hated, haha... man, I miss them both so much.

Lyset you’re post made me cry because my dog does something similar, it’s where she just rests her head on your chest and looks up at you. I spoil her so much, as she was a rescue. There are times, like right now, where I just start crying thinking of what will inevitably come one day.
Rest in peace Ursoc. Your sacrifice will hopefully be worth restoring Ardenweald.

Play Ori and the Blind Forest and Ori and the will of the wisps (especially the second game). The entire game feels and sounds like Ardenweald and it's my personal favourite game of all times.

Only issue I have with this video is this sacrifice isn't Ursoc's own, despite the speculation that he would have accepted it. Duty and sacrifice are immensely powerful, but not when the sacrifice is unconscious. It unfortunately is more like human sacrifice justified for the "greater good" by someone who doesn't have a voice to consent to it.
