One of the funniest double entendres I've ever heard!!!
The guy in the beginning who gives her the secret is voiced by Hugh Jackman, and the robber where guy gets his glasses in the beginning is voiced by Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. Ryan Reynolds had a big influence on who was in this film, all his friends wanted to make a cameo lol.
Also, the voice of Keith's (Revenjamin's) mom with the vacuum cleaner was Tina Fey.
He did the same in Deadpool with brad Pitt jaja Ryan Reynolds is the goat
And the anonymous gamer that comments on Blue Shirt Guy was John Krasinski.
Just goes to show what an awesome guy Reynolds is!

They literally made the shot in a window of 10 min in his schedule

This movie is surprisingly heartfelt for a film about videogame NPCs. The director has made some surprising films with loads of heart such as the Night At The Museum films.
Hadn't been so moved by diegetic video game characters since...sheesh, the sprite comic Kid Radd.
That chris evans scene wasn't planned, chris just happened to be in the city for the day so ryan texted him if he wanted a cameo and he said sure and he showed up, filmed, and left all within 10 minutes.
@Frogger Ryan told Ryan to text chris because he thought it would be a funny cameo... why would someone have to tell him to text his friend that was in town?

I didn't have too many expectations of this movie. Ryan is a goddamn beast but still...I expected a midly amusing romp through MMOs with lots of inaccuracies. This movie blindsided me, torpedoed me right out of the water. It was sooo much better than I thought it would be and dang if it didn't make me a little bit happy.

Fun Fact, Mary: Millie (Jodie Comer) also played Rey’s mom in The Rise Of Skywalker. Speaking of which, she was also in a great film this year called The Last Duel, with Adam Driver, aka Kylo Ren. 🤓
Saw a BTS about the film and it was written consciously channeling the same vibes as The Lego Movie and Scott Pilgrim vs The World where allusions to real world issues are mixed with stylized video game aesthetics and tropes. Succeeded where Ready Player One tripped. Also, this serves as a big middle finger to execs ruining games (and movies) putting profitability over creativity.
In a way it's Tron all over again.

Taika Waititi and Ryan Reynolds worked together before on Green Lantern, which was a notorious flop. They both have a great sense of humor about it though because when doing interviews for this movie, they both were all "yeah it's great to finally work together... for the first time ever." interviewer: "uh didn't you work on Green Lantern?"

Yeah, this movie was unexpectedly wonderful and extremely charming. Definitely exceeded my expectations for it. But I guess when you can stick Ryan Reynolds and Taika Waititi in the same flick, you're gonna get SOMETHING good. :P
Also, RIP to the great Alex Trebek. I couldn't believe he had a cameo in this movie.

The person who played 'Dude' is actually that built, they just had to swap Reynolds' face onto his.

Maybe you didn't noticed but the part when Guy makes it to the new map, and a the slow tone version of "Fantasy" starts playing, it's actually actress Jodie Comer (Millie) singing. She did a feature for the cinematic version of the song and her voice is fantastic. It's sad they didn't produce the whole song for the soundtrack...
I took my gf to go watch this on our first date and we loved it so much. This movie and Shang Chi hold a special place in my heart because of her ☺️
As a huge MCU fanboy I almost lost it when Guy whipped out Cap’s shield and The Avengers theme played and then I actually lost it when Chris Evans showed up 🤣🤣

This movie holds a special place in my heart and the fact they added Chris Evans as a cameo it has become my all time favorite!
Man, everyone in my family LOVED this movie, even our two teenage girls. It was amazingly well done, and so satisfying of a story. We really couldn't be happier with how it came out.
One other movie that you should watch if you haven't already is Sing 2. They really took the story of Sing up a massive step, amping up the things that worked and doing away with the things that didn't. I'm SO happy that it is finally available to buy, and not just available to rent.

I watched this film a couple of weeks ago, and even though I'm not a gamer I was familiar enough with the tropes to really enjoy it. Ryan Reynolds was as usual hilarious.
What the sh*t? I laughed so hard and I was surprised to see Chris Evans make a cameo in this movie.

Nice to see a gamer's perspective on this show. Originally watching it, I wondered if some would have a closer perspective. I now also wonder why you weren't cast in the show. +1 on the glare.
I've seen other "gamers" review the movie and say it's not realistic enough. I didn't really care that it wasn't perfect. I thought it was still a fun ride.
I did not expect a blockbuster to have a *general strike* as the big turning point in favour of the good guys. Excellent.
Easily one of the best summer films of the year. Free Guy was such an amazing surprise of the film. ❤ I always love rewatching it.

Sometimes in gta5, I would shoot and when the npc’s start running, I would jog behind them just to see where they would run to and eventually they would just start walking

The funniest part is that Chris wasn't even supposed to be in the movie he was walking by near the set in the area Ryan saw him and asked if he wanted to be in it

One of the few standalone movies in recent years that took my high hopes and totally surpassed them.
And the Avengers / Star Wars bit had me cheering hard.
I just learned that Chris Evans was in town filming something else and Ryan offered him a cameo between his shoots. Chris jumped at it, came over, hung out, and filmed his 5 seconds.

I really love Ryan Reynolds commitment to method acting, when playing his persona.
A lot of the scenery is straight out of Vancouver, where I live, so it was fun recognizing various places.

Highly unlikely. I'm willing to give you that in the future there will be NPCs that are AI and do have their own lives, but I can't believe that there would ever be a time in which *every* single filler NPC that just spawns in an area to fill it with people would have a full "character" behind them, aside from a few, very specific games or game types that cater to that feature.
Especially so when AI rights start becoming an issue.

I disagree with your closing statement about Milly dating Guy in game, if Keys programmed Guy based on his love for her, I say Milly should dive in and program a character in who’ll love Guy just as much as Keys loves her (of course with some help from her Keys and Mouser as her programming skills may be rusty after not doing it in so long), if Guy is a Love Letter given life then make him a Gal that is a response to his letter that was given life XD
