Mike Rowe is probably one of the most underrated thinkers of our day, but is differentiated by the fact that not only is he a thinker he's a doer.
And he's not afraid to associate himself with " normal citizens".
I think he would make a great VP
@@gary_michael_flanagan_wildlife I would say POTUS,
Yes, I noticed! and I'm not alone.
Rowe is such a breath of fresh air
I love watching brilliant minds reminiscing and telling stories of other brilliant minds.
Never heard of Peter Tilden but love Mike so gave it a shot....WOW great show...
Tilden did radio in Los Angeles for a number of years and was a refreshing honest and funny voice.
There is a TWIX commercial, as I remember it, that I've only seen once, but it was great. Two guys sitting in the woods by the fire and one said Twix is so good, soft on the outside and crunchy on the inside, then the camera pans out to two bears in the woods and one says, so good, soft on the outside and crunchy on the inside.
😂
That was really fun to listen to!❤
I always enjoy what you share here on commment but we’re not friends yet, I have tried several times to send you a message but it’s not going through. So I decided to try it out and it went through, I will be happy to be one of your friend.💓 If you find this message embarrassing please pardon my manners.Thank you
The most memorable commercial for me was shortly after the Cleveland Browns left to become the Baltimore Ravens. It began with two guys dressed up for a football game, sitting side by side in a stadium with foam fingers, etc.. One guy turns to the other and says”Wow! Great seats! How did you get them?” First guy replies: “ Scalper.” Slowly, the camera pulls back to reveal the seating section which is empty. So the second guy says: “Gee! We must be early. Maybe it doesn’t start till 1 o’clock.” Meanwhile, the camera continues to pull back, slowly showing a completely empty stadium. Then, finally, the end field shows emblazoned with “CLEVELAND BROWNS”. Then you hear the Voiceover: “Got awhile to wait? Have a Snickers!” I nearly fell out of my chair laughing!
So anyways...this is Juliann and I have got to say that there is no one else on earth that can turn a frown upside down and bring my tears from sadness to joy better than you Mr. Rowe. I laugh so much when I'm around you I remember many times you couldn't look at me on the set without bursting into laughter you had to have me removed before you could get through the shot! I have an incredible amount of great stories to share about people in the industry,in fact, people in all industries for you. I could use the gig to catapult me into my next stages adventure. You owe me one for cleaning the fish vat for you. No matter how many layers I covered my skin with, I smelled like fish for weeks! Love your show(s) of course ❤ ~ your friend Juliann Green
Come on man -- we want, no, we NEED to hear Juliann's stories! Please!
Please help me get a work from home job writing for television. I need to work from home because I had several severe strokes last year and I can still and want to contribute.
@JamesBroadyeah we need you.water
😅😅😅😅😅
😅
I love Mike! I can listen to him forever!
Thanks for the stories about Phyllis Diller. I loved her. I’m happy to know how great she was behind the scenes.
Joan Rivers?
What a great podcast.... being a young boomer (65) I can relate ... much appreciated gentlemen
Mike the story about Joan and the chocolate chip cookies was very touching. You told it very well.
As he does every story he shares. Mike Rowe is truly a gifted man, on par with Paul Harvey.
Teared up!
"Joan without a net." - Mike Rowe ❤
Her one liners were the best and oh oh pleaeaesse !
Here's to Dexter 🥂
So sad about Dexter. I'm dreading the same day in the future for my dog Butch.
I've been through a few, but it gets tougher when we also get towards the end of the line.
I loved the whole interview. Talk for hours and the time flies.
We need more JOAN RIVERS today 😁👍🏻
Welcome MIKE ROWE 😎
We have that same honesty today. It's called man tweets.
Thank you for sharing about your dog, I’m so sorry for what you’re going through, I know the feeling all too well. 😞 This moved me to tears, but it was comforting in a way to hear. God bless you and yours 🙏🏻💖✨
Bless your heart, I feel your pain. I just had to say goodbye to Buddy after 20 wonderful unconditional years.
I’m going to hug my dogs tight tonight. They are getting close.
I am liking these longer podcasts of Mike's because he has people on that I have never heard of or ever seen before. Mike is great.
I love that your show gives us insights we’d never have. Learning about Joan Rivers is enlightening. The public who never met her had such a different view of her. Made me realize how you never really know - unless you know.
Another great episode!
So great to hear the inside workings of Joan Rivers. As a teenager getting home late from work, I would just unwind and laugh when she hosted the tonight show. Pure gold.
Favorite Beatles song,, "I Want To Hold Your Hand".. It was the first Beatles song I heard back in the early 1960's. I was a Sophomore in high school, driving my first car and the song came over my AM radio. I and the World had NEVER heard a song like it or a group like them and we were hooked!
I was 5. It's late at night, Mom driving is to visit Grandma in Nebraska, the sibs in the back asleep. I'm standing in the passenger seat singing and dancing to this while I helped her stay awake. I beamed as she complimented me over the whole performance!
Thanks for helping me recall that precious moment in my life.💜
I love watching and listening to Mike no matter what he does. Love his mom too💕🇺🇸
OMG I just did a spit take all over my laptop at the goatee joke!!
Great conversation! I had a flashback putting our 17 year old yellow lab 5 years ago. Please bring Peter back. Loved the conversation about Joan Rivers.
I never heard of Peter Tilden…very much enjoyed Mike R’s last book (suggest the audio version)…. Not sure how or why this podcast popped up… things happen for a reason…I’m feeling very alone, with my 16 year old dog who was diagnosed with diabetes and things shutting down… words can’t describe how express my love for this dog, my partner…when Peter brought up that he’s having to deal with putting to sleep his 16 yr old dog, I could not believe it…there is a reason this podcast showed up now, on my iPhone…thank you Peter, and Mike for your honesty, openness and words of compassion….i don’t feel so alone…thank you
Mike Rowe is a national treasure.
Here's to the faithful companion RIP until you meet again at the Rainbow Bridge.
A great show thanks for the laughs and interesting conversation.
Absolutely love Mike Rowe
I listened to Peter Tilden for years in LA.
Talking about having to let go of our pet,, we NEVER get over it. We may get another pet but we never get over having to make the decision to 'let them go'. Before I made the decision to let go of my Wife and my last pet Max I watched some CZcams videos on the subject and heard a vet say,, "Making the decision should be a day sooner than a day later. We must not overlook who is better for letting them go. Shall we make them hurt one more day because we're weak,, or shall we allow them go and avoid another day of suffering."
Mike and Chuck, y'all never disappoint. Your guests. Your input and humor. I will always watch y'all. No matter how long the podcast. Always worth every minute.
I always enjoy what you share here on commment but we’re not friends yet, I have tried several times to send you a message but it’s not going through. So I decided to try it out and it went through, I will be happy to be one of your friend.💓 If you find this message embarrassing please pardon my manners.Thank you
“Sometimes losing a pet is more painful than losing a human because in the case of the pet, you were not pretending to love it.” - Amy Sedaris
Thank you guys so much for finally putting the whole videos for the podcasts up. I love listening on spotify but watching the dialogue creates a whole new dynamic. Many thanks ❤
This is fabulous...
I learned so much about so many...
It's lovely to hear the love for Joan Rivers..
Thanks Mike... This is a top interview.
Rest in Peace Dexter 🕊️
Love Joan. I have a sarcasm deficit since she's been gone.
Saw her in New York, she was the best!
So true!! Miss her.
She was one of the few who could do sarcasm without rancor. What an amazing woman.
Good thoughts to Mr. Tilden and Dexter 🙏🐾
I admired Joan Rivers so much.😢 I miss her. Great interview. 👍👍
What a great interview. Thanks to you all.
Thank you Mike. I spend Saturdays in my shop listening and catching up.
Mike. I gotta say thank you. Thank You so much because It’s been a year and a half or so since I suffered a near fatal massive stroke unexpectedly. It left me clinically dead for 3 minutes. I was transported by medivac helicopter to a local medical center where the doctors said I was a miracle patient! I’m pretty sure I crossed over to that other side and had a short conversation with my grandmother who has been dead for 3 years now. She and I were extremely close my entire life. She practically raised me and I was grateful to be able to have the last conversation with her before she took her last few breaths and passed away peacefully in her sleep. I tucked in her bed as she did when I was a kid. When I woke up in the hospital i don’t remember this however but my family reminds me that I screamed out repeatedly over and over “Nan!” “Nan”. My grandmother was and will always be an absolute inspirational person in my life as I continue to recover from my traumatic stroke. I’m so happy that I randomly came across your video. It’s been very helpful and adds fresh fuel to my already self motivated personality! I’ve been working on my recovery along with writing a memoir of everything I’ve endured in my life. Along with writing my first ever major film script to in hopes that it will inspire others to never give up. Never!
No matter how hard life gets, I always seem to find the positive side of the worst situations ever. I really do hope to cross paths with you to once again add more fuel for my already self motivated personality. My dark humor has definitely helped me get through the worst of days as well.
I hope that you read this comment of mine because I feel like I’m talking to you directly Mike Rowe. I hope to hear back from you soon.
Thanks Mike.
Sincerely,
Matt Conneally from the lower upstate New York.
Isn’t this podcast great! Mike is such an interesting man with a unique capability…actually like his mom. Gifted, really.
Bless you on your recovery!
Glad you got to see your Nan!
Thank you Peter Tilden for revealing the real gem in Joan Rivers! ??Masks?? Other Cultures throughout the world have a different view of facial masks: #1) I have enough respect for you, whom I share this planet, to not share my illness with you and #2) I am smart enough to protect myself. Seems like arrogant American's missed the message... (Stubborn can silently slip into Stupid without warning ;-) THANKS! This was most relevant, entertaining and most informational! 👍
Actually intelligent Americans realized that masks didn’t actually prevent the spread at all and having the govt force you to cover your face to simply carry out your life isn’t ok.
Unfortunately, people like you ignored what you saw with your eyes when places that were fully masked still had Covid rip thru them. I’m not covering my mouth and nose because it makes you “feel better” when it’s not keeping anyone safe. Get a clue.
Love Mike Rowe! Def on my bucket list of person to have a drink with!
I loved Joan Rivers, your show as always, did not disappoint
A great conversation, thanks guys.
@7:00 my theory is the internet (connectivity) gave people an excuse to not connect in person because they felt the same gratification through digital means. There's less incentive to join a group when you can simply watch the benefits from the comfort of your keyboard.
Mike Rowe needed to be around people i think. Maybe not “needed” but it seems to feed something in him. Interest in people? Dunno. But he seems like a man who is interested in all of us. The little guys, too. Love that.
Oh i got/get no gratification from digital means. And i am not much for speaking in person. I do snail mail well - where i dare to be daring. Odd, i know.
Maybe digital works because we can be braver or avoid having to fully dress or go out when we don’t want to.
You got me pondering this.
The groups one would join, pre-internet, to share with people with a particular similar interest, are now found in social media.
The trade-off for lack of personal face-to-face interaction is a worldwide wealth of knowledge and experiences from a more diverse membership.
Joan (Rivers) Rosenberg was a lovely lady in person. Her on-stage persona was not the real Mrs. Rosenberg.
Annually, she would host 60 strangers at her home for catered Thanskgiving dinner. Anyone with no place to go could go to Mrs. Rosenberg's.
She gave her costume jewelry to: doormen, fans, pedestrians, anyone...."HERE! Take this! (removing jewelry from herself) Give it to your mother and tell her it's from you."
"Zoom is making their employees come back to work." That is deep 😂
My favorite podcast of yours to date!!! Timeless Brother!
God Bless Dexter, 18 years is a gift for sure. ❤
Prayers for you , family and your pup, Dexter, the love is real and pure.
Just came upon this and it was so interesting. Thank you for a great interview.!
Lifting you up in prayer in the loss of your furry loved one. Dogs are family.😔🙏❤️
Love this podcast, thank you Mike Rowe👍👍
I lost two dogs since I moved to my new apartment in 2020 can’t wait to move this year. No fault of this place it’s just memories. “A dog can show you more honest affection with a flick of his tail than a man can gather through a lifetime of handshakes” Gene Hill.
"poop"jug's", as a middle aged man who still vividly remembers the sound of a Gerber jar popping as it loses it's vacuum, thankyou for the PG potty humor. Really No Really.
OMG i remember WiFi-92 LOL. Thats going back to the 70's. I live in West Chester, not far from QVC.
Great. Great podcast!!!! Thank you so very much!
This interview was so much fun!!
We lost,when she passed ❤
First time seeing Mike's podcast and loving it.
The episode & subject matter kind of reminds me of something I recently saw that was infinitely more fun to watch than I thought it would be.
It was a video of the three guys in the band Rush having dinner at a quiet restaurant in Canada.
It was something I would've never imagined watching or caring about, but it was a wonderfully voyeuristic view of 3 men
who've known each other for over 50 years, having natural conversation.
Anyway, I mention because anyone who likes that aspect of this podcast, might really enjoy it.
Producer/engineer in the frame is super cool. Should be the standard 👍🏻
Thank you gentlemen
So entertaining. Thank you
Love you and your content. God bless you and your projects!
Boy did I enjoy your segment on Covid lockdowns and wondering who we really were or had become after that wretched time. Great show!!
Chucks Hair looks Amazing 😊👋🇨🇦
Thanks for addressing the topic of socialization vis a vis covid. So essential!
Ty , we do love our dogs, 🎉 i can feel your pain iv been there , there is a dog heaven there must be 🙏
There MUST BE because many to most of us were SOO ATTACHED to them it would be unfair for us to not be reunited with them in Heaven.
My Goodness Mike, love the Authenticity. As an Australian I didn’t struggle following the lines.
Good work mate.
Nick
So very much appreciate you
Talking about the side of Joan Rivers we didn’t know brought tears to my eyes
FYI. 37:50 Is The Joan Rivers Clip Love You Joan !!!
Went to a Pink Floyd show and had access before the show and decided to stand next to the sound board in the middle of the stadium, best seats ever, sound was unbelievable 😎
Excellent Pod Cast guys !! Hugs going out to dog lovers
Hey Mike!👋
That Lovely Harmony at the end made me want to subscribe Again! 😁🥰
Mike in San Diego. 🌞🎸🚀🖖
So sorry about Dexter Peter. Saying goodbye to a beloved pet is one of the hardest things a man will ever experience.
Second video I've watched today with someone talking about losing their dog. I feel ya Peter, it's so hard man. Had to watch my best friend Bongo go through the same as you mentioned just before Christmas.
Thinking of you and your family here in Australia 🍻
When you started talking about ad campaigns, my mind immediately went to "Real men of genius" for Budweiser. By no means were they high brow, but they were just fun.
Love these videos
“Jason aka Peter” Called Mike, Chuck within the first 8:45 of the show…love the comedy back…please Jason go on with your story. Love the humor and dialogue. Ha ha 40:14 makes three oh too much love this. Mike you are such a gentleman. Chuck must have been loving it hearing his name yet it is amazing knowing that Peter can not say his name it is because he is not worthy. Too much. Love the show. All jokes aside what a trio doing what they do. Maybe a secret man crush with Chuck. Too funny
Awesome show!
Clara Peller was the Wendy's little old lady. Clara Barton - a nurse. Love the podcast!
Great show
Peter Tilden says "Philly was small." Philadelphia, at the time he was talking about, was the #4 media market in the country behind NY, LA and Chicago. it was NOT "small."
It was entertaining and informative, so two out of three ain't bad.
Another great episode. However, I really wish you’d add the preamble to the CZcams videos. It would be great to not have to start over on iTunes & then pause to come to CZcams to watch the episode. Just a wish.
I'd love to see the Motel 6 ad today. ' Hi. I'm Tim Bodet and Id like to talk to you about Motel 6. If you're looking for a nice inexpensive place to stay with sex trafficking, drug dealing , overdosing and just a few murders. Think about staying at Motel 6 and we'll try to keep the lights on, but let's face it, some of our more nefarious clients bust the outside lights due to under cover agents trying to gather evidence. '.
Lol I can hear his voice
😂😂😂😂
😅😂😅😂
Thank you for sharing this on how we act as we get older as Peter mentioned about turning us into grandfather (in my case it is my father). I learned that what my wife reminds me always that we are all a body Christ and our behaviors effects everyone around us. Don't be a donkey..hee haw.
I still say, “Calgon, take me away”, and “Don’t cook tonight, call Chicken Delight!”
1:17:24 So educational! I never knew Clara Barton from the Red Cross was in a Wendy's commercial. 🙄
I don’t know if you guys ever read the comments but at the very end you were talking about some of your talk commercials I’m old, but I’m telling you right now if anyone asked me yet I would say Amazon with the little white dog and Lee Marvin singing I must’ve watched that 1000 times
My fav. "shake and back, and I halped."
Mike Rowe for president!!!
He wouldn't want that job BUT it would be fun to see him do a "Dirty Jobs" on that office,,, wouldn't it? 🙂
I grew up listening to WIFI FM 92 was a great radio station.
From KC Casum to erictile disfunction in 3 sec...thats gotta be a first 😂😂😂
The "hair" conversation reminded me of one I heard the other day...
"I just found my first gray pubic hair the other day. Unfortunately, it was in my cheeseburger."
l miss Joan Rivers , l met her at a showing of Rabbit Test in NJ. l told her l had a crush on her , l was in 8th grade , she said she had bras older than l was , l couldn't help it , l looked at her chest and turned it red . She laughed and tourseled my hair .
Lol... That darned power of suggestion! I had to chuckle😅
This Peter Tilden sounds just like Steve Allen. Im listening to the audio only and subconsciously i think Mike Rowe is interviewing Steve Allen.
Top ad - Apple ‘1984’.
