    I'm planning on making a kind of a large robot exo-suit costume, where I would be wearing stilts and arm extensions, making me around 8.5 feet tall, with long arms and legs of course. This was a great peice to reference for how to actually create the armor peice after the framework is done, good explanation of how to craft and paint this foam to look like metal armor

    you should make all of it attach with magnets onto an under suit so you could take it on and off really quickly and easily

    • @Cosplay4usall
      @Cosplay4usall  Před 8 lety

      +youtube commenter or something like that Most of the suit is heat formed to her body so it actually stays in place by itself and simply slides on and off (the thigh pieces have straps attached to the waist piece). Magnets are excellent for some things, but if someone bumps you at a convention, it can cause the magnets to detach.

    Unbelievable work, I enjoy sketching and I am a perfectionist but this is outstanding. 9.5/10 the only flaw is the screw backing on the helmet injecting your eye, lol. This is just the best home made armor I have seen, how long did this take? -Side note, I would rather pay 1000 for that then 650 for the halo 3 deluxe chief set. Your daughter is extremely lucky to have someone who cares for them as much as you and your wife. Good on you...

      ***** Thanks! Actually, since we shot this video, we have cut the screw end down inside the helmet. Now it sits almost flush. No eye-poking going on here! ;)
      We worked on it, on and off, over a period of about 7 months. A little here, a little there. Working with so many parts, pieces, and various angles can make a person batty!

    Yeah I'm building my own Noble six armor problem is I have literally no experience with foam I picked up stuff I thought I'd need like;
    Foam (obviously)
    Hot Knife
    Hot Glue Gun
    Heat Gun
    I've been working on it for 3 days and I've used three sheets of foam on one forearm piece. I copied the templates down but they just overall didn't seem to fit well so I restarted and basically made it from scratch using a lot of trial and error. I finally have one mostly done but just all my edges look very poor and the seams are all open. I know it's my first attempt but I really want it to look good. My biggest issue is finding a tool that cuts consistently good and one which I can make decent angles with so my seems look nice.

    • @Cosplay4usall
      @Cosplay4usall  Před 8 lety

      +Stephen-zan Vex-ar A sharp cutting tool is the key to clean edges. Invest in an inexpensive knife sharpener (you can find them in Home Depot or Lowes, usually in the tool area). Then, make a slice or two with your razor/xacto, ect, take a swipe or two through the sharpener, and your blade will be nice and sharp again! We discovered this shortly after starting our suit and omg did it vastly improve our seams!

    I don't know if you guys tried remaking the suit, but one solution for the helmet would be to have the Google cardboard VR set. similar to how VR world's work, you can have a phone attached to a cardboard cut out so you can see out of both eyes. the camera will go through the one hole and you'll see as if looking directly outside. the resolution adjusts from little magnifying glasses on the inside of the cut out so it doesn't even feel like you're looking through a phone You would literally be building your own VR set for super cheap! I built mine for around 20$

      Foam. All foam. Various thicknesses of craft foam (from hobby stores, or Joann Fabric) and eva foam floor mats (sold at most home improvement stores, and online at Amazon, etc). For more info on building Halo armor from foam, visit this forum and start at the newbie section www.405th.com/forums/
