If you have to take the glass it is important to get that stock push bar out of the way. The most effective way is by striking closest to its end and hitting it as horizontal as you can. This is its weakest point as you will strip the threads of the mounting hardware. Some will hold up better than others as you can see in this video.

Honest question: during the breaking the glass demonstration, if the door has security bars on it and you have to wait for the saw anyway, wouldn’t it be better to just not break the glass? Even if you could muscle the security bars out of the way with a striking tool is it worth the expended energy when you could just wait a few seconds for the saw and cut the lock? Obviously the best is to think ahead and have these tools on hand but inevitably guys may occasionally forget. So in that situation would it be better just to wait? Awesome video!

k12 just as quick if you have it ready just saw the bolt, just reactive before using and have a back up plan. also if done right it can save money on the repair $50-80 for new lock vs $200-400for a new door
