And there in lies the problem with so many people...they can't handle brutal honesty. Simon is the only judge I've ever respected right from the very first season of American idol, but he was forced to tone it down because the delicate little flowers were getting broken petals from hearing him speak his brutal opinion. That's what made the show so entertaining to begin with.
In many cases he tells truly delusional people exactly what they need to hear.

Its mainly because the parents want to say that she is really good and has pushed her to this to prove herself, but in reality, she's just not a good singer and she needs someone to brutally tell her that she is not good enough, which is why i respect Simon in this situations
i felt bad until she walked out and the first thing she said was "none of them liked my dress" when her dad, who made it for her, was standing right there. instead of talking about her own bad singing she blamed it on that. no empathy towards how he must've felt at all

@@marionmaier8152 not to bootcamp, the problem with her was that she was trying to sing like a baritone while being probably realistically being a soprano, that clearly wasnt her natural singing voice. Till the time one cant find their natural singing voice, its going to be tough to get them to do anything right

@@Luv_kaylaaalol that's def the reason, it's based on him saying that and not rlly bc of believing or not. I aint a follower of religion but the gospel was nice to hear, I respect that kind of talent, choir work like that is very nice.
When you practice at home you need to turn off the radio or whatever you are singing to, sing it acappella and record play it back and listen to it.
I use to do that, as a teen. I had a couple cassettes that had a tract without vocals...I'd record myself sing with it, then record myself singing harmony with myself. Play it back. Also record a capella. I don't have a solo voice...but it still helped me to be the best I can be, and I did go on to sing with a ladies group in my church.
I was 7 or 8 when I started recording myself. I think I was 8 when I learned how I sounded on a recording was how I sounded to others. That was rough...but I continued to record myself and then work on improving. Initially I couldn't stay on key to save my life. At the time my dream was to be reporter and be on the radio. So I practiced that mostly, but singing as well. I was homeschooled and had a lot of time on my hands lol.
This is exactly how I found out I couldn't sing as a little girl. I have an okay voice and I can sing in tune, and I'm probably better than at least 50% of these people, but I would never ever ever think I could do this as a career. These people truly are delusional, especially the unattractive ones. I mean come on! So glad they exist though. 😂

I've studied opera for over 30 years. I sing for myself..I would never have the nerve to do this. So I applaud those who get up there do great or get ripped apart..because getting up there is half the battle. My heart broke for Emma. Her parents are awful. Living vicariously through her and she's not good. Shame on them for putting her through this!!

I think her family enjoys her singing and truly didn't realize she is average. She is lucky to have people who love and support her. I hope Emma finds something else she enjoys.
Hmm, very interesting to me, actually! Admittedly it seemed confusing reading the two of you practice singing but dont want people to necessarily hear the result of your hard work. But if you find joy in music and singing, it's wonderful that you want to learn about it and keep it personal! Why not?!

usually they get destroyed because most "singers" only sound good to their personal group but they go on this one of the shows and the brutally honest judges rip them a new one.

I knew from the start, that Simon's "meanness" was somewhat of an act. He's actually a great judge and seems to have a good heart. In show biz, one has to get used to criticism much worse than Simon offers AND if he is impressed, he is truthful and encouraging. He seems to have mellowed a LOT since the birth of his son. Also, as "sharp" as his criticism is at times, he is not without compassion and sensitivity. His tears are sincere and speak volumes to me. Bottom Line...Simon's programs have presented some rather amazing talent from all over the world, which creates inspiration for many, that is a needed ingredient for the show and the world! ☺
Simon should have asked Ant to do a solo. Seb completely ruined his chances. Their mother must of made them take him 💀

Eh sometimes- maybe even mostly. I think there's a few people that he's just unnecessarily cruel to. Some of the pig headed auditioners deserve it, sure. But the kid he called "useless" wasn't "true." Yeah he was a bad dancer, but that doesn't
make him a useless human being. And the kid was very well mannered before Simon said that. The kid responded poorly, but Simon was just unnecessarily mean there. There's some singers that were at least decent singers and he says they're the "worst" he's ever heard. It kind of gets old hearing him say Everyone that he doesn't like is the worst.

Why do all the bad auditions have the most confidence?
Because they literally can't hear how bad they are. Tone deafness is a real thing! Plus, they likely have had people compliment their singing just to be nice, all the while knowing there was no pressure of them actually mwking it. On the flip side, trained singers have spent years analyzing themselves and receiving constructive criticism from people aiming to help them be better.
If you know you're bad you try to improve, if you think you're great you keep doing it wrong.
When you have talent there's no need to laud it from the roof tops.....That talent reveals itself.

They're not just confident, but also arrogant. I think that distinction is key. If you're very passionate about pursuing a talent, very few things can stand in your way... but arrogance is one of those things.

MY Absolute favorites so far have been Josh, who sang "Jealous", a Labrinth cover, and that Precious, Brave and Immensely Talented and inspiring Jane ‘Nightbirde’ Marczewski, who sadly, has since passed. She touched my heart and soul like no other and her music is playing all over the world. I am still so sad about her passing. The original she performed, "It's OK" almost had me convulsing in my crying. I will never forget that beautiful Angel! I believe that anyone who has had the privilege of hearing her story and voice will remember her as well! No doubt, she touched the hearts of millions!! SIGH!💙💙💙💙💙RIP, Sweet Angel!

In all sincerity, I've been rather impressed with some of the spectacular talent I've enjoyed and when little kids blow the roof off with theirs, it's what I enjoy most about X Factor and shows like it. I was never very interested in these shows before I began viewing clips on You Tube. I think that when we watch, it also nourishes our own creativity. I so enjoy being entertained by more talent than lack of talent I've seen on the show. So my NO is now a rousing YES! 😊
