Rebuilding this SUV Overlanding Camper into Luc's new full time home. Before this 4x4 FJ cruiser was rebuild Luc had lived inside for over a year. Through that experience living off grid in the truck camper, Luc decided that he wanted to start a rebuild. This truck bed camper has a bed room, tons of under storage, triple slide kitchen, closet, and a full Jackery Explorer 1000.

I would recommend drilling vent holes for the Jackery. Nice set up
The ingenuity that went into this build is just amazing. Beautiful results.
Wow this is heartwarming. We love Luke as your BFF and now you are doing something really special for him in return! 👏🏻 👏🏾 👏🏼
That was both a very interesting and inspiring video. Interesting to watch the absolute maximum efficiency being made out of a small space. Inspiring to watch individuals in their 20's, 30's, and 50's all working together towards a common goal.
FYI, when you buy your sheeting, just stain it as a 4 x 8 sheet that way when you get done and you’re ready to finish your final product are you have to do is touch up staining
Thats a really good idea. I'll have to try that next time.
Plus it has more time to dry and stop off gassing. All that fresh stain in a tiny space might hurt his breathing. 🥺
Luc, amazing design and execution. I like your choice to stain rather than to paint. Congrats on your new home. Happy and safe travels.
Rare to find a build that's spacious, efficient, AND beautiful. Congratulations on the wonderful build!
Nicely done, but you need to secure your books and the Jackery. The latter need ventilation too. Good luck!
The "pull out game" is strong!👍🏽
WOW!!! What an amazing build, Glad to see the young grasshopper learning from the old masters :)
This reminds me of the Flintstone episode where Fred and Barney were converting Fred's FlintMobile into a camper.
Of course they used slate and tanned hides instead of plywood.
Not only an awesome design & build, but a great job of showing the build as you progressed through it.
Super fantastic Luke, may your travels be all you hope for and more !
Y’all have amazing talent for this. You should be proud.
That Jackery 1000 is the best $400 bucks I ever spent
Great job guys. I am sure Luke will enjoy his new home while he is on the road.
Your new house and your friends are a blessing. Happy trails.
Man I love this build. Such great use of space and excellent functionality. Y'all killed it!
Amazing. I'm 74 and would love to do something similar to my 2007 Nissan Xterra SUV! It would also need space for a standard poodle! What a creative team you are.
Great job on the rebuild, Luc. Thanks for sharing, and enjoy.
Nice job! Nice to have teamwork and tools:)
The only thing I didn’t get was the placement of the cooler. I like to have a coffee and morning meditation before I face the world:) Wish you Happy Trails:)
Luc, you and your friends have really laid it out well, it is fantastic and so functional - safe travels.
awesome work guys and im glad luc got his camper to
OMG!!! That is such an amazing buildout for Luke’s rig!! The design is perfect and layout is perfect! I always love seeing the “floor plan” of builds like this and it always makes my jaw drop. Super beautiful build and super amazing friends. Much love to y’all ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Glad he will get to enjoy it for years to come.
Navigation Nowhere definitely! All the building was super sturdy and sound. Y’all did an amazing job!!
yes, i do agree Luke did a great job on the build I wish him luck on his journey
Bro, I really like the way you edited this video, explanation segments were dope flowing right into the work and the advertisement flowed right in to your video. Of course the project itself came out Fire!! But I enjoyed the flow of the vid. Cool story bro.
Very cool, congrats Luke on your new home. Love watching you guys get crafty.
It was a fun build out. Gets me excited to get back to the bus build.
Use the gap by the wheel wells for your window covers for night and privacy/stealth and add a bungee or a belt to stop the books from flying off the shelf when you put on the brakes
Nice!! My dog and I are headed out camping today in my GMC Yukon.
That’s awesome! Camp in what you got
Awesome OverLoading Build
That is awesome! We have an FJ and thought about doing something similar, for now we are using a pop up camper but are looking at the idea of a skoolie down the road
Wow. Can’t believe all of this in an FJ. SICK!!🙌🏽🙌🏽
Great concept, construction, woodwork, build & use of space ! Thanks for sharing 😃
This is a masterpiece of tetrocity! Looks great and really functional.
Great job guys, and a really good use of all that space! 👍🏻
Each build you do is,GREAT!!!!!! You have the best ideas.
Thanks.
Just lovely awesome job thanks for sharing 🤗
That thing is awesome! I wish that I could live that small. I love FJs! Great job the build looks great!😊👍👍
Some good engineering going on in this video... great build. Happy trails Luke.
BAD ASS!!! Guys this I think may be the best I’ve seen so far out all the systems I’ve seen here on CZcams. I’m going to have to change I’m going to have to change my design now, glad had not started the build yet.
wow that is one cool setup wow very neat congrats Luke 🛠️🇨🇦🛠️🛠️👍👍👍
Now we need to rebuild your tool carrier.
nope it works just fine lol 🛠️🇨🇦🛠️👍👍👍
Supervisor Dale did a great job on this video!
Love the FJ, good video with tips/tricks to consider for my own project. All for a 4x4 RV for offroad and winter camping like MAV in a simple pickup (maybe a Tahoe/Suburban).
You guys did an awesome job on that.
Amazing just the basic stuff and can still give stuff away and you have some good mates there as well. Go well 🙏🏼
Great video..I enjoyed watching the whole process..😃
Man I have an FJ and would’ve bet it was way too small to do anything like this with... now I’m rethinking life 🤔
Have an FJ Too and would love to do this to mine. Avid camper. Wonder if I could offer him $ to do mine??? This is great!
While I love the design, a small interior design oversight was the wood should've been white-washed with a gray stain instead to match the interior of the vehicle. Love the creative process and ingenious ideas implemented! 😎👍
Great job. Love it. Have a wonderful adventure. 💪🙌
Very impressive guys. Job well done. Congratulations!
Luke, that's fantastic! Congratulations on your new place.
Awesome build..the best I’ve seen ever!
Well done, I never knew there was so much room in an FJ.
I know. I was surprised as well once we started measuring and gutting it out.
Your Jackery unit is going to overheat Stuck inside that box. You can’t block the airflow on its side. It’s going to fail on you a lot sooner installing it inside that box
I have to agree about the possible overheating concerns. I'd suggest some design of cutouts on each side of the Jackery with louvered venting or screen covers. With as innovative as you two are, I'm sure you'll come up with a great solution.
I agree. He should cut holes in the plywood or something for ventilation.
It’s a sweet build, Just trying to save him a powerless night down the road and possibly having to purchase another unit. That would suck. I just know in my experience anything with with a fan and louvers needs to be vented. Whether it’s a fridge , Power supply, even a hairdryer.
@@theshadow7205 For sure. I know my Inergy Apex needs ventilation on both sides.
It really depends on what he's using it for. It won't get very hot at all charging with that panel. And if he's rarely drawing 100w from it for more than 30 seconds, heat won't be an issue.
Really close layout to what I have in mind for my Commander 👍
Absolutely amazing
Awesome! 👍🏼
Impressive + cozy. Good job 👍😎
Impressive work gentlemen. Given the square footage and what you managed to fit into it, pretty sweet. Could it have been done differently, as some have pointed out here, sure. But since it's Luc's house and he's the one that knows what he wants and needs in his own home, looks to me like it turned out perfectly. Luc, enjoy the travels in your updated home.
That is the fun part about these custom rigs. They are custom to the person living in them. The vehicle represents the person.
"Bob's Your Uncle," 🤣 Those across the pond will be proud! Anyway....
The modularity of this conversion is what's uncommon in these builds. That's really smart forward thinking.
I hope he is very comfortable and has many great adventures. Stealth is Wealth!
Came out really nice. Enjoy 👍 like the jackery1000
Thanks, It was awesome we were able to get one installed in Luc's rig.
Awesome suv build conversion!
Thanks!
Amazing build!
Great job boys!
Thanks ! It was a fun build
Would you happen to have the plans for this build? I think it’s perfect and would like to build this in my FJ. Perhaps a “floor plan” on a different website?
Incredible design! Love it!
Great build
Ummm…. Cardboard makes a great template…. But dang!!!!! Ya all ARE AWESOME!!!! Fantastic build!
You guys are just awesome! I love watching how you build and what you build!! And I am a grandma!!😂
Ugh now I want an FJ....and a mini schoolie...and a big Schoolie!!! Gahhhh lol great job Mike Luke and of course Dale!
I want to see how the sleeping set up looks with him in it. Pretty neat but I was wondering how he could fit. Does he fold forward the front seat entirely or how does this work? On camera the length looked relatively small. Or maybe it’s just me anxious and itching being nearly 6 feet
This build is amazing
Great build!!!
Wow. As a Journeyman carpenter. WELL DONE. i enjoyed every minute of your Instructional video. Very well laid out. I will say, i viewed this as to get ideas to do the same. I am on same plane. As far as creativity. I will say it was a joy to see the comradeship and working towards an end Goal. Way cool.
It came out amazing. Love all the finishing touches. Hard to believe how much room is in it. Love the Hudson Bay blanket, they are awesome.
I'd like to see more of the final build.
Amazing. Just a couple of tweaks and it would be perfect. If the door was on the other side you could add a drop table and possible a holder for a collapsible sink bucket. Also if the cooler was on a slide that dropped down so you can see in and access easily this would be the next upgrade I would work on.
Nicely done
Love the build.
Really cool job guys 😎👍
Thanks!
i wanna know how you get a beer out of the Yeti when you're chillin in your bed? Cuz that's important. Reading a book, watching a movie and .... ahhh I want a bevy
Great build enjoy your life on the road 👍
Awesome job bro
That’s a great bugout rig.
Impressive build, guys. Can we see how Luke is gonna fit on that sleeping platform? The FJ doesn't have much length back there without all that extra stuff you placed in there. I'm 5'10" and can't lie down straight in the back of an empty FJ.
Awesome build! Luke has great vision! He could definitely do this for a living. If Toyota were smart they would snag him to do a design for them. The only thing I see missing is possibly another paracord to hold the books in place so they won't spill out. You guys work so well together. Wish you both nothing but the best!
Thanks, we added all our mounting straps in the closet the next day. Didn’t make the film. Haha. I’ll be putting out a full finished tour soon.
@@navigationnowhere Awesome. I really like that Luke created his build around his experiences. That's what I plan to do in my shuttle bus build. Going to put in the infrastructure and then go camp for a week to see what I use and then build to that.
That’s the best way to do it. Figure it out first before you have to rebuild and spend money.
Cool Build..
Nice build. I want to do something like this with my Tucson.
***..Génial .. de toute beauté .. thanks A LOT for sharing your knowledge .. God Bless you guys./ Much love from Québec ***
This is so cool and think it would be really cool to be able to take your home off road and really stay anywhere
Good job& I really like the music
Great job, looks nice!❤️this is lady from California 😘✌🏼
Wow! What a great build, and teamwork #empowerment
Looks AMAZING I have a 2001 Isuzu trooper would love to build it out. ♥️👍♥️
Really real build with a lot of plus features in a small space. The only suggestion would be a slide out for his cooler. They get heavy after loaded with food & ice.
Luc, the Bean Outsider
He does look like a young mr bean😂
I also live fulltime in my FJ Cruiser
The only things I'd add... A lip, bungee, net or door on the front of the bookshelf, to keep books from falling out. Ventilation for the Jackery.
Nice Carpentry!! Impressive. Wondering how you learned. Again well done gentlemen!
Awesome!! I want the 1000 jackery !!!! Want to win it, would be awesome!! I love my little one, but need more, more, MORE!! Haha ❤️👍
