- Pittsburgh Mass Mob's Tour of the beautiful St. Mary's Catholic Church in McKees Rocks.
Designed by William P Ginther, this church is still spectacular today. Join David our historian as he walks us through this gorgeous church, another one of Pittsburgh's hidden jewels, deserving to be rediscovered today!

Very sad the Altars (high and side) fell victim to the "fruits of Vatican II". I'm sure they were splendid as begins a church such as this.
Although the influence of the French Gothic style is evident (as opposed to English or Italian Gothic), I'm not so sure I would classify St. Mary Church as "Flemish Gothic". If anything, I would simply say it is American Neo-Gothic (or maybe Gothic Revival, although I don't see anything particularly English or Victorian in the building as one would expect in a Gothic Revival styled building). I see what you're saying about the twin spires and their connection to Cologne Cathedral, but that this church is "modeled after" Cologne Cathedral is a bit rich. Nevertheless, it is (or at least was) a lovely church. Sad to see it in such a state of decay. It is also regrettable that St. Mary Church fell victim to the ravages of the Vatican II iconoclasts.
