Great video! I am the guy who bright up Malta during your 1 million subscriber live event a couple of months ago. Malta was a trip of a lifetime for us. I would also suggest don’t miss out on visiting the Hypogeum and other spectacular historic archaeological sites around Malta! Malta has some of the oldest and most important sites in the world!!!
Don't forget the very fine silver jewellery they make here , also the fine lacework
(Melanie here) My husband is Maltese and we have been to Malta twice ( last visit -October 2023). We really enjoy staying in Mellieha Bay (have done a hotel one time and an airbnb) which has a very nice beach area. We toured a bomb shelter in Mellieha that was a moving experience for my husband since his father would go into those during WW2. Also, I can definitely recommend - Mdina (interesting, peaceful walking around) and eat at Fontanella (worth the wait for the view and the food - pastizzis and cakes are fantastic among other things). Also we had a great tour of Valetta. Get pastizzis at Manuela (certified authentic). Ferry to Gozo is reliable and then use the hop on hop off bus on the island.
Yes, go to Fontanella! We had the bacio cake there. It was so good we came back twice just for that, which was a 40-minute bus ride.
Being originally from Valletta, I always eat at Eddie's when I'm in Malta, at least once.
Where is Eddie's? We will need to check it out the next time we are there!@@1960ARC
@@davebonello1944 you walk down Kingsway from the top end of Valletta, then you come to a large square to your right, just past two red English phone boxes (hope they are still there) you will see loads of tables and umbrellas.
I always had the chicken kebab(watch for the odd bone).
I'm from a rather notorious street not far from here, straight street also know as the gut.
There is actually a book called Strada Stretta about the street.
My Father having been a drummer in a band appears in this book along with o other family members.
My parents were there also during the war
Don’t forget to use public transport as its a flat fare of €2.50 I had no problems when I was there
I second this. A 5-day pass is only €20 and really worth it.
Hire a car, the public transport is awful.
It is much better to rent a car
@@maitecalvo-fernandezgalleg1999 rent scooter, don't be chicken
It's so great to see Mark totally gushing about a place. This makes me really really want to visit Malta, especially since the big siege there is one of my favorite stories in history.
Enjoyed your video. I visit Malta often can I also say, you don't have to drive. Public transport is very cheap and ultra reliable you can go from one end of the island to the other for less than 3 Euros . Then get the ferry to Gozo (a cheap alternative to the tourist boat trips). Also Mosta is lovely to visit especially the church and the unexploded bomb from World War 2. St Georges Bay has a lovely sandy beach and on the public transport route too. Im from the 🇬🇧 UK .
My earliest memory of travelling to another country is from a family holiday to Malta when I was 3, which proved to be pretty memorable in its own right due to to the fact that our ferry back to the mainland from Gozo on the last day was cancelled, which led to my first (and only) helicopter ride, since that was the only way to get to the airport in time for our flight home.
Be aware that buses can be unreliable in country areas, being infrequent and prone to cancellation or being full up. Also, they mostly stop running by around 10pm, so plan your evenings accordingly. The narrow roads and the heavy traffic also mean that Malta is dangerous for cycling: so much so that you seldom see anyone on a bike. Apart from that, Malta is a beautiful place.
I found the Maltese liqueur Bajtra, traditionally made from prickly pears, to be a nice souvenir to bring back to my family last time I went there 😊
Also, the best pasta I've ever tasted was in Malta 😋
We went to Malta 3 months ago and the first thing that hit us was the fact there's almost no birds in Malta :)
I saw plenty women in the video….
What do you mean no birds?
I absolutely fell in LOVE with Malta and plan to return (I went in the off season and it was still warm and wonderful)
I would avoid peak season (June, July, August) as they very hot months, especially August. I usually visit from Australia around, mid April or May. Otherwise September is good too.
Your video convinced me to add Malta to my list this year. Thanks, Mark! I'm sure the locals appreciate you for showcasing their beautiful country!💪🏻🇲🇹
If you speak Arabic, you speak Maltese. I visited Malta and was shocked, it was as easy as understanding another Arabic dialect 15:29
Very similar to Hebrew as well
Sorry but Maltese is not an Arabic dialect. Yes it's heavily derived from Arabic but it's a separate and unique language. In fact we Maltese only understand a few Arabic words mainly numbers and days
@@christinecamilleri6558
I had no problem speaking and understanding Maltese people.
Yes Arab speaking persons understand us a lot but not vice-versa. I think it's that Arabic is faster than Maltese
naturally We are used to different Arabic Dialicts. I know a Maltese college at work how was able to completely understand our Arabic Dialict after few months living in the country.
Love Malta. One don’t is: Don’t visit Mosta church without going up dome.
No word about the movie locations or Popeye village?
I think missed you also the Island Gozo and Camino that are nice to visit by ferry.
The bus is a good way to travel and prizes go up a lot in the summer not to forget.
Malta is top of my list for this year. This video was so helpful, thank you 😁
For archeology buffs, there are several sites across the island not to be missed, particularly the Hypogeum. History of these places is still largely unknown which makes them so interesting!
Also, go for a hike along Dingli Cliffs 👍🏼
So many! So true!
Good Job Jocelyn. I had to Facebook another U.S. CZcamsr to warn them about flicking the switch on U.K. sockets when they came to London.
Malta in February is wonderful! Warm, not crowded & swimming at Golden Bay is possible.
Nice!
Hey Wolter, great video bro. Yes, I love Malta went there in 2016 with a couple of friends and I really enjoyed it. Really would love to go back again. Cheers from the UK.
One of the best countries 🇨🇦 ❤️ 🇲🇹
ayy! Happy that you made a vid on my country :)
Thank you, Mark.
A helpful video about one of my favourite destinations.
Malta has so many layers of history it is worthwhile taking some time to explore the island and discover other areas than the very popular ones.
In Valletta we boarded the Hop on Hop off bus and appreciated the opportunity to travel round and hear about the island - if it is still running I would recommend the tour.
Amazing video! I loved Malta.
Great video! I loved Malta and also bought glass while I was there 😀
I had a trip to Malta planned for March but it was unfortunately cancelled due to an airline strike. I hope to go in November/December though. Fingers crossed!
Hey Mark, great video
I loved Malta and Gozo. I did have a rental car, and its busiest around Valletta but not so much elsewhere, and took the car on the ferry to Gozo, car is the best way to get around there..
When in Valletta, a visit of the upper or lower Barraka is a must, amazing views.
This gentleman did a great job in his short talk about my country and he is right about Kinnie. You can actually order passtits online in the UK.
I've never been to Malta but I've heard a lot about it, my sister has been too - great video of tips!
I love Malta so much! I went last year and I'm going back later this year and I cannot wait.
Regarding the humidity, I didn't think it was all that bad in September. It was quite hot (30 C/90 F) but not so humid. I was quite comfortable in the shade. Now, it could very different in the summer for sure. And winter, apparently, it can feel kind of damp and chilly from the humidity but it never gets bitterly cold.
This was a good video for anyone who hasn't been to Malta yet because clearly he is enthusiastic about being there (something I relate to so well).
Great timing! I am going to be there in May!
Have fun!
me too
I love Malta! It's my favorite destination so far.
Visited Valletta in Feb. awesome place. Recommend
Had a nice holiday there, good cheap reliable public transport too. And the boat to Gozo
I love Malta ❤ Been to Valletta twice
Bring some Maltesers home
Well, looks like I have another place to go visit. Looks lovely there. I really liked the church's
Glad to help you find a new place 😀
For souvenirs it’s also colourful nougat, kinnie drink, coasters with mosaic and cactus liquor
Thanks for sharing the location. It has always been a mystery. It is basically a chunk of the UK below Italy 😂 Interesting.
Malta was a British colony until 1965
At which point, it very nearly got incorporated into the UK proper. British government of the day backed out of the agreement due to the Maltese economy not being strong enough.
The QUEEN LOVED IT. WHEN SHE WAS A NAVY WIFE WITH PRINCE PHILIP XXX
Malta was a British possession, not a colony.
Never a colony. It was a possession won off Napolionic France 0:41

Omg in the first 24sec of your video you showed my belated grandparents street. Thanks really surprised. That's gzira opposite the gzira health centre. I now been living in UK since 2012. My grand ma passed away 8th Sept😢 2022 at 4am
Nice
This is a great Facebook travel page. He keeps it brief, but thorough. I'm not seeing one on travel in Hungary, is there one? And a link, please?
Being from central Florida I look allways always lol I've seen folks drive down the wrong direction on a1a.
Thanks for this. I'm going in may
So am I! 29th April to 5th May. I'm looking forward to those pastizzi's 😂
Great video. You forgot to mention our unique prehistoric megalithic temples.
I would love to go here soooo badly small island that seems great
This place sounds very interesting. Not sure about eating rabbit...😊❤
Tastes like chicken. Really. I grew up on it
Hey Mark,
I'm going to Malta in May with my dad. He's in a wheelchair and while I noticed some ramps in your video, I'm aware that not all of the old buildings will be (fully) accessible. Do you have some tips for traveling with a wheelchair, like places that certainly aren't accessible, or places that surprised you.
I had spag bol the first time I visited Valletta
My Uncle moved to Malta a while back
The main carnival time in Malta in Valetta is in February and in August in bugibba.
The only reason why it is affordable is because the US dollars is so strong now! C'mon, prices are almost the same than in Canada and in France 😅.
Those wrascaly wrabbits yummy 😂. I already have my water shoes
Malta is amazing !!!!!!!!!!!! Xxxxxx
When I've been to Malta it was on a cruise so we used transformers to charge stuff anyway lol
Good timing as I am looking to go soon. What strikes me is high the prices are for Southern Europe. Is it that expensive because they speak English / were colonized by the Britts? I call it English speaking taxes, i.e. the reason why Belize and Jamaica are more expensive than surrounding countries.
I couldn’t take kinnie 😖 now Cisk! yes had some😉😉
I’m guessing that traveling to Hati is off your list for a while Lol!
Can you recommend a resort which is more chilled vibe
Odd question - any chance malted milk balls have some connection to Malta? The English creation is called Maltesers and there they speak Maltese. Malta was an English territory when the candy was invented… just coincidence??
One of my candy favs.
❤❤❤
Ohhh i just came back from malta 😂
Think mark's been round the world more times than the sun😂
I'd say don't come in the summer. It can get stupid hot and when I was there the sea was 28 deg C, that's way too hot to be refreshing.
In Malta now. Thanks for info. Staying in Qwara -St Paul’s Bay - too noisy for me. Would love to be where there is less traffic noise, less partygoers and a smaller hotel. Weather great. Next time hotel closer to Valletta.
hmmm DONT wear black tshirt in the hot humid sun....
When it comes to grocery shopping, ITALIAN is the main language here.
So they speak Maltese or English? is it like Eire where they speak Gallic as a second language?
I love your videos as I'm to old to travel and it makes me feel like I'm traveling.😂 I should have waited until the end of the video.
Official language is Maltese but most speak English . Sign posts, menus are in both .
Maltese is an Arabic mix.
It's very easy to be an English speaker in Malta. Everyone speaks English (unless they're older - in that case they might not speak it so well) and speaks it better than a lot of native English speakers do.
Kinnie is awful, one bottle is enough for 10. Maltese sausage is awesome. Try the pastry called a Wudy, frankfurter with cheese inside in their delicious pastry. Also deep fried ice cream is easy to find.
Factoid: you may notice a cross in the top left of Maltese national flag, which represents the George cross that was awarded to the tiny island nation by Britain for the courage of its people in resisting the massive barrage of the Nazis. Ps good job Wolter, all bases covered.
The ‘Dont’ is don’t go there after May and don’t rely on the public transport. Weather is great, sea is beautiful but boy it’s a bit third world 😬
It's not 3rd world at all. The public transportation just isn't all that reliable because there's so much traffic. That doesn't make a country 3rd world. They have all the typical "comforts" of any European country, except for great public transportation (it's still better than public transportation in most US cities).
You don't mention the wonderful coastal walks and stunning scenery. You can get away from it all and not see another soul for miles
I think that horse at around 2:00 was lame please choose carriage rides carefully xx
Why they hate tree's?

Don't RULE NUMBER ONE: MARK..
DON'T WEAR A BLACK HOT AS HELL TEE SHIRT AND STAND IN SUN, GIVING A VIDEO
Husky size clothing come in black or Hawaiian floral print. Hence my 🫠
What's with all the negativity - all the recent "DON'T" videos? You should stick with more positivity like your earlier videos. Even in this video, you talk about so much fun stuff to do, but I wonder how many people are turned off by the "don't do this" attitude. Nice video BTW with LOTS of things TO DO when traveling to Malta.
Don't feel bad if you eat rabbit? Yes, you should. You should always be by eating animals.
Malta is disaster
