Step by Step DTF Epson L1800 Printer Manual Head Cleaning

- To all DTF Epson L1800 users, please learn and skill this Manual Head Cleaning method. It will help you save plenty of MONEY and TIME.
Before DTF printing technology, I use the Epson L1800 printer for my Sublimation and Photo Print job.
During that time, I am really scared to do Manual Head Cleaning. So, when the printer faces a clog issue that can't solve by performing head cleaning from Epson Drive, I need to bring it to the supplier place for repair.
The labour charges for repairing is High and it also takes a few days for that. Then all my job will be stuck. The worst is they keep asking me to change the print head. Yes. I agree that changing a new print head can solve the problem but it is very costly. Most of the time, can't earn back the cost of a replacement new print head.
As we know, DTF printers need more maintenance than usual. It is no choice for me to learn and master the skill. Then I only realise that all my previous replacement is unnecessary. Just perform the Manual Head Cleaning, then the clog issue can be solved. Inside this video, we also show you how to clean the Print Head Viper and Ink Capping Station where many people forgot about these two important parts.
IMPORTANT NOTE :
Just use enough FORCE to push the cleaning liquid through the print head. Over FORCE may damage the print head parts
With better ink quality, the frequency of clog issues may reduce. This statement is made based on my test result from 6 different DTF ink manufacturers.

Hello Henry ive done this method with my l1800 and then are cleared or at least they all spray out clean from the print head but whenni reinstall and run head cleanings i get a few lines of white and black but nothing else...why if it flushed clean
Hi Mr Henry, I've tried flushing cleaning solution through the nozzle but instead of it coming out from the print head, the cleaning solution came out from the other nozzle, is it normal?

Hi sir, I have a Epson L1800 pigment ink is install, I wanted to convert to dtf, can I used the same ink for CMYK that is still in the tank and just buy the white for dtf or replace all the inks?
Can not. It is different type of Pigment Ink.

Hi Henry, I follow the steps in your video flushing all the inks from the print head and put it all back.
But now when I on my printer, it will start doing head cleaning then end with two simultaneous blinking lights on the ink symbol and paper symbol.
On and off printer few times also the same and printer cannot print...
Checked in Google and few youtube videos from others, they said the rod is dirty and need to be cleaned.
I cleaned the rod and still the same.
I am stuck now...

Look like the waste ink counter indicates full. Get Epson Adjustment Program to reset the counter

For whoever does this method I DO RECOMMEND to unplug the cables from the printhead before you flush it. Trust me on this !
Anyone who says "Trust me" with no explanation on why to trust what they say seems a lil sketchy
@@DjVerasMusic or you can go the hard way and burn the printhead's motherboard. Nothing sketchy here, only your thoughts.

i am using my L1800 epson ptinter since 7 years .Nowadays i am not satisfying in print quality may be it needs head cleaning and i am afraid of damaging printer while i can do it.
Hello Henry. I have a L1800 printer and no matter what I did I couldn't unclog the magenta color. I don't think the problem is caused by the clogged head anymore. Because when I clean with software, sometimes 10 pores are clogged, sometimes 5 pores. When I clean it many times, magenta opens, I get 5-10 prints, but then it gets clogged again. Could this problem still be caused by the clogged head? Or could it be another problem? By the way, I usually do the head wash with isopropyl alcohol. Thanks in advance for your help.
Damper is consumable part. Try to get a new damper

I just purchased a L1800 last week. I couldn't get it to print white. I did the manual head cleaning like you suggested. It worked for 1 print. It was perfect. However, now I cannot get any white to print at all again. I did the manual head cleaning again, and it printed some white but not a lot. Do you have any suggestions?
Below is my practice to keep the printer healthy.
1) Daily Maintenance ( Please watch the video inside playlist )
2) Only perform manual head cleaning when method 1 can not solve the problem.
We must have correct mindset in this printing industry as below : NOT all DTF supplies ( Ink, Pet Film & Powder ) are the same. The only same is their physical foam. There are plenty of grade quality at market.

Hello Mr. Henry! I have a Epson L1800 and it worked fine for the first month..now everyday when I'll do the daily maintenance, the white ink dampers are darker as if they're getting mixed with other colors.. do you know what may be causing this? It prints perfectly, just the white ink seems to be getting mixed.

Personally i try more than 5 suppliers of dampers when i face thia problems. From there i learn that all look a same. But the quality and performance may varies.
Change print head is the last option because it is too costly.

Cleaning liquid in turquoise colour. Not the transparent. Get it from ink supplier
How often should it be cleaned? On average we do 50 prints every 2 weeks
Usually i just do the maintenance before i start that day of printing job
Hi Mr Henry, I couldn't get my white to print. I tried the auto head cleaning for about 4 times and it works for a few prints (5 prints) The next day, the same problem happens again. I tried your step by step manual head clean but it still doesnt work. Now the black and white colour doesnt appear. Please help!
Firstly you must perform the syringe maintenance method then do this manual deep maintenance
@@HenryTeoh I tried that, however I find it harder to extract the ink as compared to when I got the printer. The ink doesn’t seem to flow into the syringe

@@alvinglee8086 sounds like you need to replace the damper, many (milky) white issues are related to faulty dampers
How often you do this maintenance?
When daily maintenance can not solve my problem then only i do manual maintenance
Just wanted to know if you give me some advice my printer is printing lines in white did headed cleaning with solution and they they are not clogged the white is not coming out smooth
Try refer to my another video about using syringe to do maintenance before start the day of printing job.

When this happens to me, I will check the healthy of the damper. Damper is a consumable part for the printer.
My printer nearly 2 years old and each color damper already change 2 or 3 time but print head still good.

My L1800 doesnt have the Wiper next to the ink station. Is this normal?
Sure have. Need to use tool to flip it up
What kind of cloth do you use to wipe
Usually I use tissue paper.

My blue ink is the only color that gone. I did first cleaning like what you have showed, and it was fixed. Unfortunately, the color next to it, red that never a problem before is missing. I tried clean, head cleaning still the same. So i have done second cleaning, for all colors but now both blue colors gone. I really lose hope with this printer 😩
I face this problem before. Then i change damper the problem solved.
Anyway i try many suppliers of dampers. It look a same but the quality are vary.

Do nozzle check print. If everything is fine, mean setting at Acrorip got problems. But if the nozzle pattern are not complete, it mean head clog.

Bro... Until today i didn't cross by this problem. So don't have solutions can share.
This printer is a disaster. I spent 6hrs cleaning nozzle, flushed damper, shake the ink tanks, cleaned the print head and it still doesnt print white perfectly. Mine is only 2 month old and its trash.
I can understand your pain where I go through before.
What I can share with you is Not all DTF supplies ( Pet Film, Ink & Powder) are the same. The only same are their physical foam.
In the market there are plenty of grade quality suppliers. Explore it.

My printer has only worked right ONE time. I keep doing the things suggested and I’m getting nowhere.

Mine is less than a month old. Still using the ink that come with package deal I ordered. Now the white will not print at all. Have flushed the lines and cleaned the heads so many times and still can’t fix it. Any suggestions?

I cleaned my print head and refitted and now I can't power the printer, it is not turning on. I am wondering if I damaged the power board when I removed the power cable to move the print head into the centre.
As mention inside the video, when doing the flush must be careful. Don't let the liquid wet the print head mother board.
@@HenryTeoh I read on FB that a guy had similar issue when the cable was attached to the print head so I took the cable out and the power came back on. I think it was in at the wrong angle as I now have power but the head is still not printing. I used a standard print head ink cleaning kit off eBay, do I need to use a special DtF kit instead? Going to try and give it a go in the ultrasonic cleaning machine I ordered.
Usually the liquid I use is in turquoise color. If the liquid is a transparent color is for wet the print head will not using.
Can I use spirits as cleaning solution?

Change damper is first option. I didn't try ultrasonic method until now.

did you remove the white cables? That happened to me because it was not put back into the motherboard straight.
