One Acre Napa Valley - Yountville AVA Episode 9 - 1st Pruning of the Young Vines

First pruning of the young vines on March 21st, down to 2 buds in the new "One Acre" Yountville vineyard. This technique will allow the root system that developed last year to put all its energy into just 2 buds and push strong shoots that will develop the trunk and structure of the young vine.

They can be a little vulnerable with 2 buds, but they usually push much stronger, and the angel cut was something I was shown, I try to do that on all my pruning cuts.
Doc Farwells is a great product and I like to use it too, it just depends on the cut.
That is great to hear about your sister, I am always impressed by the knowledge and tasting skills of sommeliers. Thanks for sending her a link when we get underway.

It is very nice to hear from you, happy to hear you enjoyed the videos, hope that they help a little when you get your vineyard in. Just wanted to share what I had learned and what helped me as I went through the process.
We filmed another video showing the growth of the plants since pruning, but we have been so busy we just haven't had time to get it up loaded yet. Hope to have it soon.
