  • In response to the NATO summit in Washington, political economists Radhika Desai and Michael Hudson discuss how Western governments are losing elections and ignoring their own people in order to expand the proxy war against Russia in Ukraine and beyond, while seeking to impose control over the majority of humanity in the Global South.

hey, I am from Germany and people don't protest because they are constantly (in our case) shamed for what happened in WWII and that is kind of their argument for everything and why everyone is just accepting anything (doubling electricity bills, growing crime, inflation...) they constantly make us feel responsible for everything happening around the world whilst we (the middle class) have to increasingly work more for less and are bombarded by news and tweets on not that important subjects (like gender discussions etc.) and actually propaganda against russia, china etc.

Over 2000yrs ago, the Chinese and the Greeks of Bactria fought the 'War Over the Heavenly Horses'. The Chinese won the war but three civilizations (India, China & Greece) encountered each other and aligned like 'Orions Belt'. This laid the paving stones for the Silk Road and it seems history is rhyming, this time its Russia, India and China coming into alignment.

They don't care about the Indian people. They don't care about the moral reordering of the world. They don't care about western imperialism as much as how they can become PART of it.

Always glad to hear from 2 really heavyweights Dr Hudson and Dr Desai. And thanks to Ben Norton for hosting this channel.
I've 1 simple theory on human behaviour. There are 2 basic human types : the marauders/robbers or the makers/cultivators. Throughout thousands of years in history, the peaceful cultivators and makers live in peace, until those marauders/robbers desire what they see in these neighbours, why in to rob/raid/destroy. Same scenario play out over and over again until now, it's the same thing now for those robbers to want to break up resource rich Rus, and rob them just like they are trying to rob Ukr rich black earth.
Only solution is for the makers/cultivators to be stronger to protect thenselves against robbers.

The dialogue between them just keeps getting deeper and deeper. It was interesting to see Desai address Hudson's use of the line about financial capitalism and to narrow it to rentierism. I have seen many criticisms of Hudson on the use of this phrase in reducing capitalism from the contradiction between labor and capital to just we have the wrong sort of capitalism. Honestly I see Hudson's framing as a stop on the way to the development of the productive forces where the relative positions of labor and capital are tilted differently in different countries where the non-western countries (third world and socialist) have a better slope than the West countries.

OTAN is an offensive alliance to maintain unipolar hegemony … the current fight over Ukraine & possible opportunistic fight over Taiwan, are about maintaining nuclear threat with impunity & destroying the effective nuclear deterrence of the “Great Power” rivals (so that the rivals may be threaten with nuclear annihilation with impunity).
What “right” has one to the power to threaten annihilation upon others?
… in truth it is a legally & morally an asymmetrical fight: on one hand there are actions to maintain & extend the unbridled domination of others with impunity, on the other there actions, one may called, defensive actions, against domination & to effectively maintain one’s sovereign independence.
Is it ok for your next door neighbor or from across the street to get guns, arsenals of guns, & point the guns at you, your family & your house from his side of the fence / his house?
Is it ok for your neighbor to amass weapons at his house & point them at you, your family and your house? & then say loudly that HE is having EMERGING CONFLICT with you? & he has the RIGHT to amass weapons & point them at you, & you are just to go about your own business.
Is this a right of self-determination of your neighbor?

As we know, Russia is heading the BRICS+ meetings this year with more than 100 meetings planned on various topics. Recently a meeting has been held focused on a BRICS+ legislature. A legislature is a structure to formalize decision-making by a large group of people representing varying points of view. All representatives equally discuss & debate various proposals for plans to be pursued.
If BRICS+ members choose to create a legislature to discuss & agree upon plans for the group, the rest of the world can choose to agree with the plans or not, but the plans can go forward for the group. If the rest of the world generally approves of the direction the BRICS+ legislature is going, different nations could ask to be included in the legislature. In time, it could be that this decision-making body becomes a replacement for the UN. Obviously, it won't have an elite "security council" with veto power. In this way, nations of the world can discuss, debate, use diplomacy & shared interests to create choices that benefit the whole.
